A pass is always a relief. I usually go for breakfast in Spoons. After an hour put my reg in the gov MOT site and keep refreshing it till I see the pass, fail, advisories or whatever. I'm better prepared for the garage receptionist 😉

the best thing you can do is practice practice practice ther were no colledge courses around in the 60s when my dad was learning he taught himself so get ya welder switched on and practice and practice easey

Most of them place's would rather throw them out than give them away... luckily for you he has some common sense 👍 Now to find a top, id look for some plywood and screw a sheet of metal to it for the time being. I got a scrap tumble drier and cut the metal sides and top off it, came in handy for practicing welding thin sheet. Don't pick up a washing machine, too much concrete in them 😂

Hi Simone..well done she passed...you have to take the front bumper off to get the headlights out...The rear arms always rust on the 75...its poor quality steel and the salt gets at them...i waxoyled mine when the car was 3 years old... ...Bob...Paignton......

I wouldn't be worried about waste when it's not your metal, I'd weld everything i could get my hands on, it's all practice and ask the tutor what course to continue with. Considering you are there to learn car welding I'd stick to mig as that's the gear you've got....

Just chop up ur practice plate..........to make new plate ........

That T joint weld looks good Simone , To stop the plate from warping , is to put weld stitch metal on the back side to compensate Stick to M.I.G for the moment give that ur full concentration, T.I.G is frustrating as ............in the beginning like everything is but T.I.G next level !!! Frustrating!!!!

Main thing to look out for with welders is that they work on 13amp plug. Dont buy unless you are sure it does. Hope things pick up for you, life is hard and you are not the only person who'd like a job that brings in the cash and also keeps your mind occupied. Been out of work for 18mts after being made redundant and it was good at first but you start to not have any structure in life. I'm 56 now and want a job that excites me, not just a McDonald's type of thing if you know what I mean. Let's hope something comes along for both of us next year......

I think where there is a will eventualy there will be a way simone, keep doing what you are doing when you can . I feel that there is a big chance you will get to where you want to be .I mean you tube is a good thing . Lots of people in the work place are there to be dealt with or put up with unfortunately. Water treatment , what specificaly ?. There are lots of things you can do from a van . I over think if i wasnt doing what im doing now i guess i might struggle , as we get older we get more set in our ways . I wish you all the best simone . Coded welding would be where the money is . The weather has been crap had to buy 3 fence pannels today . Hope you do get tc sorted. And a way of mobile welding .

if you don't need tig and stick keep it simple and get a blue clarke mig (pro 90, -150 te etc) cheap secondhand and reliable, stay away from the red clarkes as they are chinese and not as well regarded. i started diy welding over 30 years ago with a sip mig and later bought a clarke 151en which is gas/ gasless so doesn't come with a bottle but has the gas valve in the trigger and gas hose and the clarke is much better. it coped really well over the seven years it took to do my cortina as i had to make most of the panels. take things one repair at a time and it will all come together 👍
