Browsed through your whimsical play list for inspiration and found this lovely couple of birds. So accessible in technique and easily recognizable as typical garden birds. The rock wall and other background make this very doable for an afternoon break from chores. Love how the set on wet looks in getting the birds to come to life. The speckles really add with not too much bother. Thank you.
Lots of good "stuff" packed into a "little" tutorial! The enjoyment of listening to you and your thoughts and making decisions as you go.........the look of the birds wet on wet before the embellishments, the stone wall (I LOVE the look of that!), the idea of photocopying for testing things, the easy way to draw a butterfly, and the look of the embellishments (I like those curving vines) - both versions, with or without - are appealing. (And you are NEVER boring! These tutorials are always such a peaceful and relaxing part of my day!)
Diane you worry too much! i come here for a bit of whimsy.. whimsy is what made me click on your thumbnail.. You can't please all people so don't let it throw you into a 'tizzy'... I enjoy watching you paint listening to you ramblings while i drink my coffee in the morning.. Sometimes i'm doing a bit of painting myself in the studio and i start a video of yours for a bit of company.. Do your thing because thats obviously what we all like.. Love your birds here.. AND absolutely LOVE your idea of making a photo copy to do the birds a different way.. I'am often of two minds when creating something.. Hugs! deb
Hi Diane, all of your videos are fun to watch, and this one is particularly delightful! First of all, you are such a sweet person to try to save the little birdie. I am so sorry it passed away. On a lighter note, Peter and Paula are absolutely adorable! This video has so many funny little moments in it! You literally had me chuckling out loud several times with your comments. For example, when you said that outlining the bird's eye with a white gel pen will work out well...unless you are filming! 🤪So true! I love your sense of humor! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!
What a wonderful memory you have conjured up for me! My mom and grandma were from England and I heard the little Peter and Paul refrain many times! Thank you!
First of all, thank you for trying to save the little bird. You are such kind people. Really like these chicks and rocks are great…with so little effort! Shows how good you are! I need to work on mine!🤪 ❤️
Yes... the extra lines in white add a really nice touch to the overall look & I prefer it. I do the save with my drawings, too - make a xerox copy to try my image with different mediums before working directly on the original. Good tips to share & beautiful work!
Thanks so much for your generous support - and sorry about my tardy message! (I'm still getting used to this Super Thanks feature and I've only just spotted that this comment was connected to a Super Thanks donation)
So sorry about the little birdie. Diane, I really like your style and the way you teach. I love hearing the animals in the background and the conversations you have with your family. I love your accent too. Your Southern USA friend, Bonita.
Lovely little birds, and the colours on the wall look fab! I use the same trick of photocopying my work to test out ideas! Thanks for another great tutorial 🥰
Love that Noturno (sp?) for the rocks. It really is the perfect color for shade or moody nights. This series is so refreshing - it inspires me to paint every day, no matter what. Thank you for taking the time to share with us! (Taking a photo copy to see if embellishments will enhance or detract is brilliant! I’m doing this now, as well.)
This IS cheerful! Love Peter and Paul. I'm trying not to be discouraged with our weather affecting my paper. It's very hot here....Must need more water on my paper? That's a delicate balance for me. Thank you so much for all the birdies.
Hi Denise, you don’t have to do it wet in wet. You could just paint wet on dry. If you’re having too much trouble with the drying I mean. I’m not sure what else to suggest. Even with the air conditioning you still have high heat and low humidity?
@@DianeAntoneStudio yes. We don’t over use the AC. I think even that is drying to the paper. My leaves yesterday were drying before I got to the next one!!! I’m using Arches. Think I’ll try Etival!!!
Glad you like the tutorial but you can use any paints - if you are in the market for new beginners paints I always recommend the Kuretake set. They make painting so much easier! This is a link to the 48 color set, but there are smaller sets too. amzn.to/3zZX8Kn
Beautiful Dianne. Great demonstration....I love your humour too! Thanks for sharing. I'm laid up with flu so enjoying watching and trying my hand at a bird a day!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Yes much better now...we've had a horrible flu going around Sydney. Oh yes, tx also for the tip on how to warm the tape so it will come off and not peel the paper.
Awww sorry about the birdie outside…you tried, that’s all we should do but I like you memorialized live dickies… those colors are certainly quite rich. I love the Peter and Paula❣️😆 Can you use the brush cleaner soap to wash stains off your fingers? When I used to do oils, I had a special kind of pre soap that would keep the oils from staining my hands….I found that it was developed for mechanics working on cars…they probably still make it. You know as a cook in the Army, we never peeled potatoes…the KPs always did it, in a machine no less…anyway love the birds…thank you Diane. 🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️👍🏽Mia
Now you come to mention it, I remember that my dad used to use something called Swarfega for rubbing into his hands before he started working on the car engine. It was supposed to help the grease to come off afterwards. I wonder if that's what you are thinking of? What a good idea, I should get a potato peeling machine!!
He was a newborn chick, fell out of the nest (or was he pushed) but he had a deformed wing and twisted neck and couldn't feed, so it was a case of letting him go in peace to a better place... :((
@@DianeAntoneStudio nature is so cruel and yet so beautiful, at least you sent him on his way poor little thing. My neighbour did the same yesterday it is the time of year for baby birds :((
Hi, I love this picture. I've just started water colour painting for the first time. Could you tell me what pen's you use please for your outlines as I can't find them in the description. Thank you 💗
Diane, You NEVER bore me! I love your talking about anything and everything and teaching along the way!!!!!😊

RIP little birdy bless your heart for trying to save him 😪. Love these pretty birds ♥️
Thanks Jodi!
I love that way of creating a butterfly! Thank you! I think even I can manage “3”s!
You're never boring! I love all your stuff!!! Makes me happy!!! And we could all use some happiness these days.❤😊

Hi Diane
An old wives tail
Try washing your hands with salt very little water. It gets rid of a lot of vegie smells and stains
❤️
This would make a really cute greeting card. I’ve tried to send you a picture of my version of your painting but I don’t know how to attach a photo.
Hi, thanks Carolyn, but you can't attach a photo on here, try our Facebook group Learn to Paint Watercolor?
I just ❤❤❤❤ your channel. Next month I'm going to subscribe to more of your content. BTW... do you have a book out?
Not yet!!
I would be first in line for that book!!! ❤️
