Get the Thinkstation, add the PCIe riser, add a PCIe to Oculink, Oculink eGPU and you have a gaming system that's upgradeable.

Don't discount the HP Prodesk/Elitedesk lineup. They are more upgradeable and have more front i/o out of the box than offerings from Lenovo and Dell (HP has two USB 3 A ports and a USB-C, plus mic/headphone jack on the front). Including a replaceable module in the back that can be VGA, a third display port, HDMI, or a rear USB-C. Other rear i/o is the same as Dell/Lenovo. The HP also has upgradable RAM, M.2 slot (2x M.2 in newer models), E key M.2 for wifi, as well as regular SATA.
Overall I think the HP is the winner if you can get one at a good price.

The Prodesk really isn't a bad little computer. It's true it has a lot of perks but I just have such a tough time recommending HP for anything.

If you ever visit a hospital, take a look under any desk at a nurses' station and you'll see these computers mounted there. They're also found on all the COWs or WOWs that I use. These computers are the perfect size for the job.

Agree'd! Easy to service and tuck away!

The "magic word" here is "convenience" -- you are trading performance for the possibility to do infinite amount of projects and interesting things with it.

Interesting take. But not everyone needs infinite possibilities - sometimes people just need a tiny computer to do office tasks!

My newest is the MeLe Quieter 4C for about $270. It's about the size of your smartphone.

Calling the amazing and reliable "Amazon" mini PCs JankIy makes it feel like you are either ignorant, or paid by these legacy companies. Sure you can get junk of any kind from Amazon (or anywhere else.) The good manufactured mini PC brands are leaps and bounds ahead of the models you are touting, and often for a MUCH better price.

Agreed, the many ryzen minis available right now are just incredible values. Long term bios security patching is questionable as is the security of the base OS they usually ship with but, for home use, a quick clean install of a known-good OS is really no big deal.

Definitely paid for. You should have seen the bag of cash they gave me to crap on the janky amazon computers that have the reliability of a Yugo and the speed of one too...
"The good manufactured mini PC brands" - exactly - the GOOD ones, not the JANKY amazon ones. Thanks for confirming.

Can guarantee you there will be no long term BIOS patching on them. But I do love me a GOOD QUALITY Ryzen mini.
