A few days ago, I finished watching Initial D. It took me 5 months to finish, thanks to all the other real life interruptions I had to face as a 12th grade student during a global pandemic. After the final episode, I dropped a tear of happiness and sadness combined, well mostly sadness combined. Thanks to MOVE's iconic Initial D outro played at the end and the final scene of "86-239" being shown, I came to realize what my experience and my feelings about watching an anime had been about. I immediately went to Instagram to write an entire story to thank the anime for its effect on me the writer, all the vehicles used, all the great songs we passed through, the inspiration behind the anime, Keiichi Tsuchiya, the DK of Japan, and finally the anime, once again. This anime is truly underrated, overrated only in memes, created by all the normie Initial D wannabes who didn't see the show yet and spams DejaVu and Running in the 90s memes. TBh, I kinda forgot my main motive for writing all this here, but anyways, thank you for creating this video, I always wanted to see a full review bout how this criminally underrated anime can change our perspectives about cars and they way we think about such.

Haven't watched the series yet but the entire manga was incredible. For me, the side characters really brought back memories of being young and single, with nothing to do in the after-hours or weekend but hang out with buddies in the same situation and obsess over a shared interest. Wish Bunta was given a little more attention but a flashback story after Takimu's final race made up for it. Quiet, cool and supportive dad.
Stage 5 & 6 was "not as good" compared to the previous stages because: - Unnecessary Mogi replacement with Mika like Wtf? Why can't Takumi be a lonely driver until the D was finished? - Most of the races feels blands (Except Ryosuke v Rin, Keisuke v Go), there are not enough epic moments compared to Stage 4. - Why is Shingo Ae86 the final opponent for Takumi's legendary Ae86? - Shouldnt the Ae86 v Ae86 be include in 5th stage instead of Final stage? - Most importantly... Where was Keisuke v Takumi rematch??????!!!! They have been building the rematch hype since Stage 1, Stage 3 especially, it's why Keisuke rejected Kyoko because that's what driven to train extremely hard to one day beat Takumi. Edit: The ACTUAL final stage should have been a rematch between Takumi v Keisuke in Mt. Akina. I don't even care if Takumi uses the Impreza if his 86 blew up against that stupid brat Shingo.
@@danskyl7279 I have to respectfully disagree. Mika was a great addition representing moving on with life. It was unfortunate how things ended between Takumi and Mogi, but it would've been unhealthy to get back to a relationship that already failed once. Instead, Takumi finds someone that he's a lot more compatible with and someone that really understands what it's like to pursue the top in one's niche.
i'd like to point out another reason as to why the word hero could be linked to shinji that wasn't mentioned in this video...to stop project d's dominance, he was the last man standing to oppose project d's desire to create a legend with a perfect undefeated record, the reason people in-universe don't outright hate project d is because they are respectful towards their opponents, they want to achieve excellence in their craft, they want to prove dominance by defeating other racers in their home courses and taking lap time records but will not be cocky about it, even then, they could be seen as bullies and villans by others who don't want their prides stomped
Hopefully MF Ghost gets an anime adaptation, and we’ll get the right voice actors for lots of the reoccurring characters from initial d that shows in MF Ghost
I still vibe very hard with Kozo Hoshino. It's been 3 years since I last watched Initial D and I still do the DORIYAA thing when I enter a corner in the arcade or in real life. People calling me a fucking GT-R fanboy doesn't help as well (even though my ultimate favourite car is in fact a Porsche Carrera GT)
I appreciate this video existing, for highlighting a series so close to heart. 5th and even final stage to me feels a lil weak, but indeed still special. Especially with Ryosuke Shinigami's mini arc. I'd love for you or most others even, to pay attention to Second Stage. Honestly. The battle with Sudo is something else, I feel. For reasons I can barely explain as of now.

Initial D is my all-time fav sports anime. I was not interested at cars and togue racing at first, but my cousin introduced it and next thing I got hooked.

initial d is super popular among 18 y/o dudes who just got their license and bought a 90s civic cause hey couldnt afford any better than this, I am one of those little honda bros, it helped me justify my car as not just rusty cheap car but a hobby, and kindled my interest in cars and motorsport in general. not me, nor any other initial d lovin japanese car enthusiast would ever consider going near disgusting chinbeard fedora types of anime, but initial d and wangan midnight gets the pass

It’s funny that I saw this video for the first time today on December 17th / just before Christmas. I truly hope that inital D takes off again and humbles the new generation of “car scene” however I’m not saying it’s dead. And the most unbelievable part is that because of initial D, I became a karting driver. The techniques really do work. (except for heel and toe for obvious reasons) I learned to depend less on the steering wheel and controlling the kart with the pedals. I started sliding minimally, so that I can maximise the rotation. And the reaults speak for themselves. I won the last 4 races I took part in

Last year I did an entire multi-media zine project about Initial D for a university course. It was one of those projects we were given all semester to work on. I spent the whole semester watching and researching the show and absolutely fell in love with it. While other students did projects on stranger things and grey's anatomy, I chose something different, something that spoke to my soul as a young car fanatic.

Initial D is must watch anime for anyone who likes cars. I finaly got to starting to watch it and in 3 evenings I went through the first stage. Also I'm trying to take in some of the driving technices but it won't be much use before I get some better tires in the front and not some cheap chinese ones. Poor student who loves cars, you all know how it goes.
Initial D is the story of a legendary drifter who delivered tofu on mount Haruna as told. Many of the things depicted actually did happen, concerning the locations, teams and cars. Only things to change were the names. Everyone thinks its a story of Tsuchiya, but this isn't true.

Those Eurobeat soundtracks are killers. I listen to those while driving and working out. Overall Initial D is the best sports anime for me.

Initial D is must watch anime for anyone who likes cars. I finaly got to starting to watch it and in 3 evenings I went through the first stage. Also I'm trying to take in some of the driving technices but it won't be much use before I get some better tires in the front and not some cheap chinese ones. Poor student who loves cars, you all know how it goes.
Just the first stage in 3 days? I watched the entire series in one day lol that's how much I got hooked by it
