    I don't understand why this concerto is far less popular than the first one. That opening, with the piano and the orchestra interrupting each other until the first theme is stated, is very powerful and original. And the lyricism of the second movement is just beautiful.

      You mentioned it indirectly: The third movement is far less interesting than the two first.

      @@kliberalsing Yes, surely less interesting than the first two movements and also less interesting than the third movement of the first concerto. But still I think it's an overlooked piece.

    after revisiting his first yesterday, i became aware that he wrote multiple piano concertos only earlier today and i gotta say i am very intrigued to acquaint myself with this

      Two main concertos, I love both. The Serkin and Hough recordings are very nice. This one is clean but a bit anaemic.

      ah, ill have to check those out, i found this one enjoyable but it didn't really seem to have the drive of the first one, even though with an opening theme like that, it certainly should. will listen to those later today, thank you for recommending :)
