i gotta say bobbys perspective here though understandable is really hurtful personally, about 6 months before i was born a few doctors my father was friends with asked him to get checked out for a mole he had. about a week later the mole was diagnosed as melanoma. If his friends had not told him when they did he would have been dead within six months and i would have grown up without a father. Be as hurt as you want but if you had not been as lucky as my father you could have genuine been dead in a few months, start leaving ego at the door instead of asking for apologies

I like that Ethan doesn’t bullshit and actually challenges them about having an unconventional break-up. A lot of Bobby’s friends avoid talking their opinion about it, but sometimes it takes a blunt person for you to reflect on your decisions. I think that they are going to regret having this purgatory of being together, but not being “together.” Breakups are supposed to be horrible, and trying to do it this way doesn’t make it easier, it just postpones the cost of two people going their own way. If I’m wrong about this, that would definitely change my perspective on these kinds of situations. I’d love to hear if anyone has a different perspective!
breakups are only horrible if one or both parties make it horrible. obviously relationships are extremely personal things and when a relationship is ending, its very easy for past resentments to come spewing out and make shit way worse than it has to be, but if both parties respect each other enough and don't have resentment for each other, this kind of breakup is totally fine and doable. i don't understand people that aren't on good terms with any of their exes. i've dated people that have been like "yeah all my exes are horrible awful people" and i just don't get it. every one of my exes, i dated because i thought they were cool and good people, and they never stopped being cool or good even if they hurt me emotionally in some way. i'm at least on good terms with the vast majority of my exes, most of them i'm still good friends with and talk to regularly. i had a particularly shitty breakup when i was in my early 20s and i acted like a fuckin baby about it. a year later and we were great friends again. a decade later and we're still great friends. the only ex i don't have a positive relationship with anymore someone that severely emotionally abused me for 2 years. unless every single one of your relationships was an abusive one (highly doubtful), i don't see why you should have such a nasty breakup filled with resentment.
This is the perfect break up for Bobby. Not so good for Khalyla. For Bobby, he no longer has to rub her feet, have sex with her, feel guilty about not hanging out with her when he doesn't want to, he can play video games all he wants, and she can't complain to him about any of it. With her still around, he gets the parts of their relationship that worked for him and no longer has to deal with the parts that didn't. For Khalyla, even though they are "officially" broken up, she's still in a relationship that doesn't work for her. She needs to move on for her own happiness.
@@Zvox thank you! I don’t understand the need to hate an ex ppl have. Obviously if there was abuse/multiple cheating etc. that changes things. People grow, and sometimes it’s not together and need to go their separate ways. Then again, I am really really big on who I’m dating needs to be like a best friend, bc when that inevitable ‘honeymoon stage’ wears off, you need to be able to enjoy each other still. Also, communication wise, being best friends helps that in so many ways IMO. While I’ve gone down the same road as them and stayed living together and everything stayed the same minus sex/romance, I wouldn’t recommend it, it makes it really hard to move on. I am still very good friends w my exes. They are guys I know I could call and they’d be there no questions asked and vice versa. But, after breaking up, I think it’s best to keep distance for a few months to let oneself breathe and take steps to move on.
Also, I’m always weary of a guy that says all of their exes are ‘psycho bitches’, bc while I know not all relationships are healthy and some end badly, the common denominator is him. Makes me question why he would feel the need to put another down, make them the evil one. I’ve been called the crazy psycho bitch by one guy, who I didn’t even actually date. This guy, while he likes to say that ab me, is the one who was arrested and charged w stalking and battery and kicked out of the army w an other than honorable discharge bc of what he did to me. Just seems like a lot of the time a person who feels the need to actively trash every single ex is deflecting.

I like that Ethan doesn’t bullshit and actually challenges them about having an unconventional break-up. A lot of Bobby’s friends avoid talking their opinion about it, but sometimes it takes a blunt person for you to reflect on your decisions.
I think that they are going to regret having this purgatory of being together, but not being “together.” Breakups are supposed to be horrible, and trying to do it this way doesn’t make it easier, it just postpones the cost of two people going their own way. If I’m wrong about this, that would definitely change my perspective on these kinds of situations. I’d love to hear if anyone has a different perspective!
breakups are only horrible if one or both parties make it horrible. obviously relationships are extremely personal things and when a relationship is ending, its very easy for past resentments to come spewing out and make shit way worse than it has to be, but if both parties respect each other enough and don't have resentment for each other, this kind of breakup is totally fine and doable. i don't understand people that aren't on good terms with any of their exes. i've dated people that have been like "yeah all my exes are horrible awful people" and i just don't get it. every one of my exes, i dated because i thought they were cool and good people, and they never stopped being cool or good even if they hurt me emotionally in some way. i'm at least on good terms with the vast majority of my exes, most of them i'm still good friends with and talk to regularly. i had a particularly shitty breakup when i was in my early 20s and i acted like a fuckin baby about it. a year later and we were great friends again. a decade later and we're still great friends.
the only ex i don't have a positive relationship with anymore someone that severely emotionally abused me for 2 years. unless every single one of your relationships was an abusive one (highly doubtful), i don't see why you should have such a nasty breakup filled with resentment.
This is the perfect break up for Bobby. Not so good for Khalyla. For Bobby, he no longer has to rub her feet, have sex with her, feel guilty about not hanging out with her when he doesn't want to, he can play video games all he wants, and she can't complain to him about any of it. With her still around, he gets the parts of their relationship that worked for him and no longer has to deal with the parts that didn't. For Khalyla, even though they are "officially" broken up, she's still in a relationship that doesn't work for her. She needs to move on for her own happiness.

While I’ve gone down the same road as them and stayed living together and everything stayed the same minus sex/romance, I wouldn’t recommend it, it makes it really hard to move on.
I am still very good friends w my exes. They are guys I know I could call and they’d be there no questions asked and vice versa. But, after breaking up, I think it’s best to keep distance for a few months to let oneself breathe and take steps to move on.
