    No... You're not an audiophile. Far from it. Edifier makes good value products - but they are no where near the performance levels of those KEF's. Start by sitting infront of the speakers... fix the echo in your room... be consistent on your feedback. Nothing can sound a thousand times better and a minute later its marginally better. You also need to educate yourself on how good sound actually sounds.

      Funizweclive fair points, but in all fairness you need to educate yourself as well.
      Edifier makes the Airpulse A80, A100, A200 & A300.
      The A100 are half the price of the Keff LSX and in my humble opinion are equal in performance and my personal prefference goes to the Airpulse.

      I'm even surprised that there's a response to this, after so long. And incase my comment was taken out of turn, I wasnt trying to sound smart or troll the comments. I made the above comment out of experience, not guess work. I own a few Edifier products, including the above mentioned and have had the Kefs. So using that, as well as my experience of being in the audio hobby for about 2 decades... I'm not just rambling. But, I'll respect your - preference. 👌🏾🙏🏾

    Your only argument for the KEF sound is "they sound a 1000 times better"??? That's it, we have to watch 12min of video for that conclusion? If you haven't got the tools to measure the sound at last talk about how the present mids, highs and lows. I just do not understand why you would pay 2k for those, for $1000 you can get an insane pair of speakers connected to like a $200 amp that will have way more connectivity and controls than those, and speakers that will blow those out of the water. If you are a true audiophile, thats the way to go. The KEF/all powered speakers are more just for convenience sake than true audio quality.

    • @chrisspear7644
      @chrisspear7644 6 лет назад

      you are missing the point of an active speaker. Using active crossovers and EQ means you can get so much more from a speaker than using passive crossovers and a single amp channel. Its the combination of streaming, DACs, active EQ, dynamic boost/limiting, phase-corrected-crossovers, and 4 seperate amplifiers all inside a pair of LS50s that makes them special. much more audiophile than say, hooking up a $200 amp to a pair of passive speakers.

    I find your tech videos very interesting, however I couldn't help but notice you saying that the "[KEF LS50s sound] one thousand times better [than the Edifier R2000DBs]", then seemingly contradict that. When later referring to sound quality you said "the KEFs take it again, but only marginally". Which one should I believe? Am I missing something?
    Oh also, an RJ45 ethernet cable, which is the kind the KEFs use, should be able to carry data over 100m or so. It might pick up a lot of electrical noise on the way though, so it's best to use a high quality, well shielded cable if you wanna run it that far.

    There is something wrong here : the Edifier sounds sharp, clear and dynamic. But when you switch to the KEF, the sound is very compressed and blurred and not punchy at all. I know the KEF LS50 should sound much better than that. Did you use the exact same mic position and settings for both pairs of speakers ? All I can say is the Edifiers, as they were recorded here, sounds much better than the KEF, which should not be the case.

      The edifiers default setting is dynamic mode. This is its dsp which allows it to sound artificially more dynamic with boosted lows and highs. Switch it to classic mode and it will sound flatter like the kefs.

    Once you set up a speaker you never go near it again...so all that touch screen crap is clickbait bollocks...the source is 90% of your final sound the speaker is a delivery system so marginal gains in sound and the top end sounded muggy enough on the KEF's (which is probably more down to matey boys ability to tune them properly) makes them expensive gimmick speakers There are speakers in the €500 range that would blow them out of the water minus the gimmicky controls

      You still can compare the difference because its recorded the same way but you can never hear how those speakers sound real life.
      You got some videos from chinese/japan audiophiles on youtube that recorded some super awesome jbls/kefs and stuff like that with very good sound recording (they also walk around and recorded stereo sound )
      It is possible to make decent speaker compairing videos for youtube (at least a lot better then this review is what I wanna say).
      Ive heard some simple edifier speakers that did cost just 120 euro's and they actually sounded very good for their price and made from quite decent material too.
      They didnt even distort with gain on max wich surprised me.

    This is a terrible video demo - the music during your playback was mono.
    The amazing stereo imaging and depth of the KLH would be obvious as hell in person.
    Also, you chose wildly compressed electronic music, again nothing that would ever show off the merits of a high end, truly dynamic speaker. Good speakers make acoustic music sound "live and visceral" rather than "electronic hi-fi".

    Don't let the moaning shites get you down mate. I hope you're having fun doing this videos. We all know that today's mediocre music media will never sound any good whatever you do, or play it through, but if you can make a bit of cash with hifi reviews, then go for it. I admire your enthusiasm.

    If you're going to review hifi/audiophile gear, your audio has to be on the better side of decent. It's not. The reverb from the room is atrocious. Please spend some money on room dampening.

    Edifier does not have a big heatsink because it uses a class D amp w/c runs cooler over the competition :) Sound over performance, Edifier is the perfect choice. Cheaper but does sound great for the price :)

    Actually The kefs do not do airplay. More a Hi-Fi streaming solution, Roon endpoint. You have to sit in front of the speakers to really appreciate them, especially the image the coax driver of the kefs can deliver. The kefs have a Truly amazing soundstage.

    I hate to say this, but we cannot possibly comment on what sounds better from a recording from your microphone, compressed by RUclips through our speakers or headphones. On the other hand, you cannot possibly comment on what sounds better from sitting at a desk BEHIND the speakers you're listening to. At one point you mentioned the USB port on the KEFs and said "not sure what that's for..." - without researching I'd guess it's for firmware updates via USB thumb stick - but the point is - do the research before shooting a video. You have a nice setup there with the 'man cave' style office and clean looks and you could do so much better if you think about how to present your reviews. I'm not saying stop, I encourage you to get better.
    Remember the type of product you're reviewing - KEFs are very high quality products on the whole - your audience are going to know what they want a reviewer to be looking for.
    Please don't take this as negative, I'm trying to be constructive. You could have a really good thing going here mate.
    Good luck!!

      @@hellobooom price ≠ better audio. I've never been blown away as much as the 802 D3 did, and they were even standing in a huge conference center. I heard the Wilson Audio Sasha 2's in a much better listening setting.. they are WAY over priced for what they sound like. If you buy anything from WA you really don't care about the audio as much as the bragging rights.
      Nothing beats the price/performance B&W gives imo. Even their lower end stuff is amazing. Heck why do you think a lot of car brands use them as their premium audio setups.

      What is the explanation of Edifier superiority?

  • @ronsenzel9056
    @ronsenzel9056 5 лет назад +6

    Appreciate the review but I can't say your an audiophile. If you were listening to both speakers to see which sounded better you would have positioned yourself in the sweet spot in front of the speakers. Sitting behind the speakers doesn't give you any real idea of what either speaker truly sounds like. Also, there is no way for people to tell the difference between the speakers while listening to them on youtube. Each will sound the same for the most part depending on the speaker / headphones of the viewer. All in all, the Kefs are an amazing speaker if you can afford them. There are good options for far less, like the Elac Debut line of speakers if you can power them effectively.

    I have the LS50's and they are awesome - I chose to go with the non-wireless versions in gunmetal grey. Don't hesitate to buy these speakers - they love my Zep, my Mahler and my Miles.
