Biggest series I've been excited about for a while!!!

    *spoiler warning*
This Is just an observation but the series took away time that could have been used to focus more on the relationships of the avatar gang and redirected it to introducing azula, mei and Tylee. Yes it was great to see them so soon but it took away some much needed time I feel that the core avatar gang really needed. Sokka and Katara do actually get a lot of foundation built on their relationship together, however by the end of the series it feels like both of them have only actually known Aang for just a week at the most, when in the animated series it's meant to have been at least a few months. I understand they had to cut down on the content when adapting the series and they did mention some of the adventures of the gAang in a passing moment in one of the episodes to allude of their travels. However, it felt kind of cheap especially when Aang is then claiming to be protective of his friends by the end of the series although we haven't actually see them experience much together as a group group. The series kept trying to separate the three of them into their own little side quests and then bring them together for a quick minute and then separate them again to solve their own stories. It is clever when trying to cover multiple stories at once and Introduce characters however, it's pulling away from their experiences together and their interactions with eachother like disagreements on eachothers stances in the situation. Of note the only 2 disagreements I can think of that the gAang had with eachother was 1 between sokka and Katara and their argument over Jet and Sai and who is actually the bad guy although Aang doesnt really hold a position in the argument and it is kind of redolved without him. The second is at the end of the series when Aang agrees with Pakku about Katara not fighting because of his protectiveness of his friends but as I already said it feels cheap as we haven't seen them really go through much together to grow closer.
That is to say I really did enjoy the show and thought that for anyone who is a big time fan of the original there are definitely moments in there that will pull at your heart strings. Overall it was enjoyable I just felt like they were trying too move too fast and forgot to fully lay down the foundation of the core trios dynamic which caused parts of the series later on seem more clumsy and clunky.

People give too much credit to the original creators. A trusted source said they wanted to change major world building elements and the story, and that original fans would’ve hated it if they had stayed.
This is adult ATLA imo. I’m fine with them losing some of the cartoon goofiness for more realistic reaction to a world at war.

They changed it but kept it the same. Same characters, different situations. I can understand changing the story a little but it took away a lot of the charm the show had. Loving it either way. Thanks for the review.

Well the original actors are gone but I hope they come back because I heard they are going to make a movie of The Last Airbender and then it must be that Aang and Katara and Zokka and Zuko are older so that's why I hope that the same actors return to do the older voice of the last airbender

solid 7/10. They messed with the spirit world way too much and made it boring. It's supposed to be one of the coolest, most mysterious parts of the show. Also they made Ko way less scary with the script changes, the face stealing spirit is a mummys boy? ok.. Also I understand the budget issues doing something like the Northern Air temple arc but then they should have just left Tao and his dad out the show entirely. squeezing them into Omashu was dumb and made no sense. I did grow to like Iro in the end but the casting is objectively not great and wtf is with Azula!! they messed the whole character arc up by trying to introduce her a season early. Literally they were so close part a few CG things form doing a perfect job but I guess the show runner wanted to put his own stamp on it and stopped it from reaching its potential. Season 2 they need to just keep to the canon and they'll make everyone happy.

@@ronnies732 i did enjoy the series I just had problems with it too. It was never going to be perfect but I enjoyed what they did. He will likely have trained via a time skip by book 2 which is fair, but if the point of the show is Aang learning all 4 elements, it kinda sucks we didn’t get to see him learn any skills at all. Katara and Sokkas changes I stand by not liking, being motherly is a direct result of Katara’s backstory, and without it in the show it feels like she has no defining character trait, she kinda just exists. Sokka they did good with but I just miss silly goofy clown Sokka but that’s personal preference

I'm a fan but you were disappointed because you didn't simply watch the show and take it as a alternate take off the og show
You had a particular show you wanted to watch in your mind
So when the changes happened it was immediately bad to you
There are wag worse series on netlfix alone than this show
Disappointment comes from creating expectations , you were never going to like this show becase yoh had your own show jn your mind
The show exists and is good
But what's the point of making a tv series and keeping everything the same
      The og show still exists
      That would be redundant

Why is aang such a bad actor? Why are they changing the colour of katara and sakka? Why is sakka not witty and jofyul? Why is the colour scheme during BENDING fights dark? Keeping the storyline and the world building the same was IMPERATIVE. Which is why the show-writers even joined in the first place. Because otherwise, you'll get a bad show. We expected a high quality show that paid homage to the original, because the original has things no other show has, why ruin it? The characters are awful, the world building is poor, the CGI is rushed. @@shippendales8543

@@olela6018 ya man, the other dude is right. He makes a really great point that "you had a particular show you wanted to watch in your mind." The show turned out great. Not perfect but great. I think all the argumentative points you're making don't make any sense and sound like personal issues with the show rather than real critiques. Most of the changes they made to the original show made sense. Some of the changes, not so much I'm not gonna lie. I felt like this series could've been stretched out to at least 2-4 more episodes more. Would've helped with giving the writers and actors more time to properly tell the original character's stories better, by allowing them to contain all the original story elements, bits, sidequests, character building, and bond team avatar all shared.
