James Vango was the weaver whom created the materiel for Queen Victoria’s wedding dress, made using Brocade weave. This was my great great uncle. He also made and repaired clothing for the opening of Parliament every year. A letter from Prince Albert was also sent to James cousin congratulating him on his 60th wedding anniversary with 23 grandchildren, I have the actual paper clipping from the above event, also stating that it was his uncle whom wove the silk material in Brocade weave for Queen Victoria’s wedding dress.
Blue is the traditional color of purity and innocence and often worn for weddings as it was associated with the Virgin Mary. This video does not even mention this, nor does it mention that Queen Victoria chose it, not to symbolize purity, but because it was Alberts favorite color and the orange blossom was his favorite flower. It was designed to please her soon to be husband. It later became connected with ideas of purity because of the Victorian ideas about it and white became a popular wedding dress color because it was worn by the queen.
A few fun facts - The christening gown was used for all the royals, until this newest generation. An exact replica was re made for Prince George, and is now used for alll new Royal babies. New lace was made at great expense to ensure it was as close to the original as possible. Also her wedding gown had a deep 16" flounce of the Honiton lace around the hem of the skirt, which was removed and gifted to her DIL's wedding gown, upon Berties wedding. After the Victorias wedding though, the mould/frame of that pattern of Honiton lace was destroyed after the lace was finished, so as to ensure no copy would ever be made.
Only seen drawings of Queen Victoria’s wedding dress. When I saw the dress on the mannequin, the sleeves reminded me of Princess Diana’s monstrosity wedding dress. Wonder if that was the designers’s inspiration for Princess Diana’s dress.
No the designers sat down with Diana and drew sketches finding her likes and dislikes. It's called a consultation Both have done videos. Personally I loved Diana's gown and millions of women around the also did as all similar dresses. Being both a hairdresser and a dressmaker. All the women came in for the Lady Di cut and later Princess Diana's shorter hair. Most people speak positively about her dress stopping work to watch on the television
OMG. I was thinking the exact same thing!. Not a huge fan of Victorian clothing but Dianna’s wedding dress looked like a gigantic textile monster that was consuming her.
I like your video, however, whilst describing Victoria's ensemble a photograph of Queen Victoria's eldest child Victoria wedding photograph was on screen.and i was confused by this.

That’s amazing!
It's a beautiful dress but what struck me more was just how Princess Beatrice resembles her, especially her eyes.
She so does look just like her! Ive never thought about it before but wow good point

Christians are known to steal other ideas and claim it as their own. Easter - Esther - Pagan.

It was indeed a dreadful dress. The second, backup, dress made by the Emanuels was so much prettier.

@@averydebrouwer-leslie1673there’s no accounting for poor taste.
The photo at 2.20 is her daughter Vicky I think
It is indeed.
Diana's gown looked a lot like this one

The photos of Victoria and Albert were taken at Vicky's wedding and just after. The photo of the bride is indeed Vicky and *not* Victoria.
Some of those photos are of Victoria the princess royal not queen Victoria
She chose white because it was the most expensive material to produce at the time
No white cream you said both
It was a cream gown with cream satin and off white lace. Not white
Now go watch Fact Feast and see how people were living under her watch. 😊
Does anyone know why Victoria chose white above the norm of the time?
I just posted it was because white was the most expensive material to produce at the time , can't remember what doco that came from .
because it was the best color to show off the lace
Poor woman wore their best dress to get married in.
And who copied her wedding dress? It was Diana.
Victoria's dress was beautiful. Diana's dress was a lost fight with a bed sheet monstrosity.
It's ROYAL Not VOYAL!!
It's THRIVING Not PRIVING!! Why Can't You Talk Right??
Tag the time of the video… let me see 😂
I did have a cold during this video but I still hear thriving 🤷🏼♀️
