The newspapers used to cover brides and their weddings. In the early 60’s my Aunt and her friends still described the exact kind of lace when their dresses were wrote about. So it was 20 years later when lace came back in style (Princess Diana) and no one knew how many kinds of lace there is anymore.
@ 1.49 That is not Queen Victoria, but her daughter Victoria von Saksen-Coburg and Gotha ,the Princess Royal and later the German Empress and Queen of Prussia🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀
Though fabric was becoming less expensive with the Industrial Revolution and the rise of mass production via textile factories in Britain, most people could not afford to, nor was it quite yet the custom, to make/buy a dress like that (with that much fabric) and only wear it one time!! So Alexandra reusing her wedding dress would not have been looked at as unusual!!
In those days people didn't smile in photographs because they would have to hold it a long time. It took a longer time to expose pictures on to film. It was easier not to smile.
I love Victorias dress but I would wear Alexandra’s dress this very day but the dress on display isn’t pretty at all. The voluminous skirt with zero adornment matched with the ornate bodice is just disjointed.
VOIAL?? Oh, you mean ROYAL!! Everyone of You Narraters can Never get a Proper Pronunciation Right. Why is that?? I Always "MUTE" these types of Videos.
Ya know, this is why we are starting to see pure bred dogs with all KINDS of health problems that are getting WORSE!! We have gotten to the point that you have to travel out of COUNTRY to find another dog of the same breed that has sufficient distance between biological relationships to safely breed them!!! The “royal” families were likewise getting DANGEROUSLY INBRED!!! At least William and harry broke the cycle! I just paused the video and went down a rabbit hole when the narrator said Mary of Teck was granddaughter of George the 3rd!!! Her ancestors were all monarchs of GB going back CENTURIES!!!
Always loved Queen Mary’s style.

OMG again, Alexandra’s dress and veil, unbelievable
It's was queen Victoria who started the trend of white wedding dresses
Omg, it’s exquisite. Love these Monarchs, unbelievable.

i thought so..
At 17:51 That is not Queen Mary's wedding dress; it is a gown for her presentation at court. It also appears again incorrectly.
Queen Mary didn't shy away from daring necklines! 😂
K….

Queen Mary considered smiling in a photo undignified.

4:57 in the video, is that Victoria’s ACTUAL dress or a replica???? Does her dress still exist??
Her dress still exists. It is in the Royal Collection so maybe they don’t want it on display all the time
Did Queen Mary ever smile?.
She did, they are a few photos out there. She actually had very good teeth!
That Queen Mary of Teck was One Homely Looking Women!! Stern and Ridged and I'm sure Frigid as a Block of Ice!!
You should read her bio. and then comment.
Why are you showing that unadorned dress, not Queen Alexandra's wedding dress, which had lace and several flounces. Get your pictures straight.
It says that Alexandra had her wedding gown transformed into an evening gown so that she could re-wear it. The original no longer exists.

No, it’s Queen Victoria’s. If you go to 1:34 you’ll see an almost mirror image of it. Same necklace, hair, flowers and veil.
