Love using Gulp Minnows! Got hooked on em last year and arguably the best minnow plastic out there. My best version of the gulp minnow is the Gulp Minnow SMELT. Caught many fish on them and many more to come! We from NC and tried Fort Loudon Dam last week. Killed some white bass and big Ole slabs. Gonna come back this up coming weekend on the warmer days and try and slay them. Tight lines Mr. Greene!
This is one of the couple of channels that I let the commercials play all they want. He earned it and I cringe when I click the skip button out of habit. Your Alter ego and the closing music have such powerful energy that man it feels Good! Thank you!
Love your shows. My husband Mike watches you everyday and new episodes. We love learning new things on how to fish for crappie and other. Great job. Love u and Elmo. 😆
Thanks Richard! Your videos are the only fishing videos I watch on RUclips. Best ones hand down in my opinion. Thanks for kind of showing how you were jigging it dropping to the bottom then coming up a couple feet slowly raising tip up and down. I’ve never got a very good/confident feel for straight up and down vertical fishing. I love your videos but sometimes I wonder your techniques on how you are jigging your baits.
Little late this year, but next year in the fall going into winter if you keep an eye on Berkley's website or the Pure Fishing Clearance Outlet one you can pick up several of the Gulp! and Gulp!Alive minnows in different colors.
I'm a big fan of Richard Gene, thoroughly enjoy all ,and I mean all, video's. It's like you take us with you in all of them.... So, I'm always fascinated by the precarious placement of your drinking cups/glasses... Its a smooth person in a boat who moves around a boat with ease the way Richard does... I would have knocked the drink over early in each video. Congratulations :)
great video and yes i love the Berkley Gulp Minnow .in the 2'' ''smelt'' and that is a great spot to fish but i walk out on that little walk way and throw to the piller across from
Hey Richard, cool channel you have. Very informative and fun to watch. There was a man named Ernie Lee that had an early morning show on a Tampa TV station. He also ended his show with," y'all get out and go fishing when you can cause it's good fer ya" I watched him every morning. So keep up the good work
Enjoyed the video Richard as always entertaining and informative. I get a lot from your videos, I'm glad tour willing to share your knowledge and experience with others to help their experiences on their lakes. Great job!
Maybe this is a dumb question but imo would be an interesting video. Why use a right hand retrieve on a bait caster and a left on a spinning reel? I use right hand on both. I just cant get used to reeling with my left hand.
love it..have some of those berklys an inch long gonna try for bluegill too..but that looks great..wrap them boys in a fifty fifty flour and cornmeal mixture..the crappie not the minnows..and frryyy tthheeemmm babies up
I fished with ol' Elmo when I was younger. Lol he liked to hunt to. What's so funny is I'm not kidding. My dad's old friend Elmer. Always good for a laugh. Keep it up love your shows.
That’s a good spot. I’ve caught some good one there and also some big stripe. Only get over there a few times per year. You know it’s flooding when you see that grass washed in there like that. Thanks for another great video.
Question, Mr. Machine; WHY are long rods favored for crappie fishing when shorter rods that are much more flexible for soft-striking fish readily available?
How do folks get into those weeds? My trolling motor is useless in weeds like that and my outboard wraps up too. I've used my paddle and gotten into spots but getting back out took a lot of effort. Any tips for getting into those spots?
Quick question for you if you're fishing in lakes small lakes do not have Shad what else is something really good for to look for I would appreciate any suggestions you have for me and maybe what type of lure to try just getting started in crappie fishing thanks
davonne225 he usually keeps the big ones, no?....that’s backwards, let them grow to get bigger and keep the size genepool and eat a few of the smaller/midsize.
Richard I love your video's as they are always informative. Could you tell me how big these gulp minnows are? Also what pound test are you using in this video. And finally is it possible to land say a 5 or 6 pound fish on 4 pound test? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance for your answers.
I landed a 15-20 pound carp without a net on 4 lb.. I wouldn't recommend it. The fish had zero fight left in it when I released it, even after reviving it for a while. Use a heavier line if possible so they have some energy left when you release them. If you're going to eat it, do whatever you want.
Damn good video Richard Gene! Extremely tough looking conditions. All the ice is starting to melt up here so our waters look like that for awhile..... awesome too see you catching Crappies🖒
Its all about the ALL-STAR rod! I use to like All Star rods until they quit making them in the USA. Now they are just an average rod. You have one of the original.
You tha man Brother Gene! I have 2 questions. 1. How long are you usually out there to make a 15 or 20 minute show? 2. If you had to fish in heavy brush, how would you rig up a jig weedless? Thanks.
Thanks for another great video. I see you where using. Baitcaster this time round. I’d sure appreciate it if you do a vid on the technique of casting one of those. I haven’t figured it out yet....I get a lot of backlash..
chad ..load one up with ten pound mono..get a good sized bullet weight..and keep your thumb lightly on the spool and line..even when you cast..you will slowly learn to cast it..and if your weight or lure hits something wen you cast..backlash...wen the bait hits the water or rite before..put your thumb on the spool..took many days of practice for me too..primary for bass is what i usem for..i do have a small one for crappie too
it does..but nobodys perfect...im like an ole pitbull..ill just keep tryin..they work well for catfish also if using a heavy rod and a big sinker..the more weight the easier it cast.
I would like a video showing how you find crappie on your fish finder!!! What to look for and stuff like that... if you have a video already direct me to it! Thank you
I use these to catch crappie and they are 100% legitimate! I definitely like the fact that they last longer on the hook. You can catch multiple fish on one lure.
my goto setup is a thick uglystik with zebco 888 and 35# line in waters i know nothing about and various light setups when going for pan size fish. be nice if i knew anyone that take me out in a boat while i'm in eustis, fl. area.
I’ve binge watched about 20-videos. Man I’m “hooked”
He's easy to binge watch that's for sure!
Watch Richard Gene when you can, because it’s good fer ya.

When you hear "he rurnt my jig" you know you're having a good day.
ooooooòòoòiiii
Thanks Richard! Your videos are the only fishing videos I watch on RUclips. Best ones hand down in my opinion.

Gulp alive is the best bait on the market. I like chartreuse 1" myself on a 1/32 oz. Lead head.
Richard Gene, what type of boat is that? Any links to point me in the right direction? Thx in advance. ..
Hey Richard, cool channel you have. Very informative and fun to watch. There was a man named Ernie Lee that had an early morning show on a Tampa TV station. He also ended his show with," y'all get out and go fishing when you can cause it's good fer ya" I watched him every morning.

Enjoyed the video Richard as always entertaining and informative. I get a lot from your videos, I'm glad tour willing to share your knowledge and experience with others to help their experiences on their lakes. Great job!

Question, Mr. Machine; WHY are long rods favored for crappie fishing when shorter rods that are much more flexible for soft-striking fish readily
available?
Energy whoo! gotta love it!
How do folks get into those weeds? My trolling motor is useless in weeds like that and my outboard wraps up too. I've used my paddle and gotten into spots but getting back out took a lot of effort. Any tips for getting into those spots?
I catch slabs on 1 inch shad color gulp minnows under a float. Crappie here hit at 6 feet in 22 feet of water. Bait fish run shallow here.
Thank You Richard I will give that a try, great video and info!!!

Have you ever fished big bear creek on pickwick lake
Glad to see you keeping some crappies and not throwing them all back. That's come good eatin.
davonne225 he usually keeps the big ones, no?....that’s backwards, let them grow to get bigger and keep the size genepool and eat a few of the smaller/midsize.
Another Great Video Richard... Thank you!

Check out 3 pound Crappie Fishing. Great channel as well. Thanks
Are the gulps worth the price ? they are like 7$ a pack here.. A lil steep compared to my usual tubes for 2$
Hey Gene I had some of those gulp shad that were a little bigger and the eyes come off very easily. You having any problems with them?
Thanks for another great video. I see you where using. Baitcaster this time round. I’d sure appreciate it if you do a vid on the technique of casting one of those. I haven’t figured it out yet....I get a lot of backlash..
Chad Randolph I don't think u want to practice with that jig. See how he pulling off
chad ..load one up with ten pound mono..get a good sized bullet weight..and keep your thumb lightly on the spool and line..even when you cast..you will slowly learn to cast it..and if your weight or lure hits something wen you cast..backlash...wen the bait hits the water or rite before..put your thumb on the spool..took many days of practice for me too..primary for bass is what i usem for..i do have a small one for crappie too
Don Ellzey thanks for the advice. Practice makes perfect, right? 👍🏽🤓
it does..but nobodys perfect...im like an ole pitbull..ill just keep tryin..they work well for catfish also if using a heavy rod and a big sinker..the more weight the easier it cast.
thats just an opinion.
What part of Alabama are you from. I’m from around Birmingham.
I would like a video showing how you find crappie on your fish finder!!! What to look for and stuff like that... if you have a video already direct me to it! Thank you

As always u don't disappoint-- great video Richard-- might that be a ALWELD boat !??!!
Best outro ever!!
