even the freight is prepaid on CFR/ CPT incoterm, the risk and responsibility transfer from the seller to buyer when the goods are on board the vessel.
FCA and FAS is wrong explained in this video! FCA means that the buyer has to pay the Origin Port handling! Also concerning the origin Freight forwarder/documentation fee is up to an agreement between buyer and seller for FAS, FCA and FOB. The C-terms are also not appropriate explained as the risk and the costs are splittet! This list is not really thought through.
I'm working with an overseas company to export my good. I need everything paid in full up front. Is there an Incoterm for that or how should it be stated?
Hi James, You could sell on any Incoterm but you will have to make sure that you get payment up front. You can add notes like '100% payment before delivery' or '30% deposit upon confirmation of order, 70% balance before delivery'. The best thing to do is create a Proforma Invoice, include your bank details, and state your payment terms. Then the customer can pay to your terms stated on the document. You can state the Incoterm and payment details on the quote, proforma invoice or commercial invoice document www.incodocs.com/features/
Please don't confuse, INTERCOMS mainly are for distributing obligation on the parties in particular transaction, there is no INCOTERM which will make the buyer to pay up front,BUT,you have to include PAYMENT IN ADVANCE clause in the international payment term. As you might be knowing that there are mainly five terms which can be included in the international payment, namely, cash in advance, open account, documentary collection, letter of credit and Consignment.
Good video. Thank you. The International Chamber of Commerce, a body regulating traffic across countries, finally announced #Incoterms 2020. The reason behind the introduction of a new set of rules is likely to be the minimisation of disputes, which might more often arise from the changes in trade practices and regulations - for instance, #Brexit. Here is a short article providing an overview of Incoterms 2010 and spelling out what actions (if any) you should consider taking to reflect some new changes in Incoterms 2020. palazzolawboutique.com/incoterms-2020/
