Are You Paying Enough Attention to Your Tesla's Battery?
9 Things You Should Know Before Buying Model Y Juniper 2025. Tesla Will Not Tell You About
The first critical mistake Tesla Model Y owners often make is not paying enough attention to their battery. Frequently charging the battery to 100%-except for models with LFP batteries-can be detrimental. Most Tesla vehicles, including the Model Y, use lithium-ion batteries. Consistently charging these batteries to full capacity can reduce their lifespan and impair the regenerative braking system. When the battery is fully charged, the regenerative braking, which recaptures energy during braking to extend driving range, becomes less effective, leading to increased brake wear and reduced energy efficiency. Even Elon Musk has recommended maintaining a charge between 30% and 80% for vehicles with lithium-based batteries.
9 Things You Should Know Before Buying Model Y Juniper 2025. Tesla Will Not Tell You About
Keeping your battery at 100% for extended periods is harmful due to accelerated aging at higher temperatures and voltages. Chemical reactions within the battery, such as the formation of a Solid Electrolyte Interface (SEI) or Cathode Electrolyte Interface (CEI), occur more rapidly with more energy, gradually decreasing the battery's storage capacity. Studies show that storing a battery at 100% charge in temperatures around 50°C can result in a 40% capacity loss within just over six months. For long-term storage, Tesla advises keeping the State of Charge (SOC) at around 30%, ensuring the battery's longevity when you’re away for weeks or months. However, this concern is less significant in colder climates.

Charging my Tesla to only 80% makes sense for battery health.
Be carefull
Didnt know charging my Tesla to 100% all the time was bad!
If it is LFP, go for 100% is possible
To make a vehicle whose paint chips so easily so that the buyer has to fork out even more money to buy PPF is simply greed on Tesla's part. It might as well be painted with water color paint for little kids.
Tesla paint is not bad, but paying a few thousand for PPF is a necessary step that every Tesla driver should take. Tesla haters are out there, and they are ready to key your car at any time.
@@adamtech999 My point being is that PPF should already be on the vehicle before it leaves the factory. If Tesla can give Elmo $54 billion they certainly could've done this as well. If you think that the average Joe can fork over yet another few thousand after already paying for a new car you are breathing some rarified, elitist air. Or you should just admit that Teslas are for the elect and beautiful people, not for the huddled , unwashed masses. And THAT is why there are "Tesla haters".
Thanks for telling me all the reasons to not buy a tesla. 🤗
Happy to help!
Charging my Tesla to 80% instead of 100% makes sense for battery health.
If depend on the battery on your Tesla. Not every Tesla got the same battery you know? If it is LFP, then feel free to charge to 100%
