I really hate the term "Golden Age" when it comes to Doctor Who because I just don't think it can ever apply because each Doctor's era is so different, Doctor Who is all about change so I don't think there can ever be a "Golden Age"
Why no Wilfred...... I can only think of 2 reasons why no Wilfred. 1 They didn't finish filming all the scenes with Mr Cribbins and have had to cut him from the episodes...... I hope not! 2 They have something super special for his farewell.... Please let it be so!!
I think they’re just waiting to save him for the specials. They probably didn’t have the scenes they wished they had so they’re just keeping it all for now
@@NS-ks5qc I heard a rumour they had plans in case he did pass before they finished filming. Not sure if they are true, however, if they are, I doubt they'd just cut it.
I mean the Star Wars shows have really good CGI (unlike Marvel), but because we can see a definite upgrade in Dr Who's CGI from over the years, it makes more of an impression.
It goes to show how mad MCU CGI has gotten over the years, when Doctor Who... DOCTOR WHO, of all things, has better CGI. The show renound for having bad CGI
The reason the Doctor has this face this time is all because these events have something to do with Donna. He needs to be someone she would recognize when her memories come crashing back. My theory anyway.
For one reason or another, that has to be true. Either the Toymaker finalgled it or some bigger destiny. Or maybe the future Doctor himself did it in order to deal with the upcoming situation?
For Wilfred, it's definitely because he has a key role in the plot. According to Russell T. Davies he was able to confirm all of his scenes before he unfortunately passed away. Russell confirmed this in a reply to a comment on one of his Instagram posts :)
This trailer is AMAZING and I’m so excited to see David tennant and Catherine rate again….. however I do think the chances of a 11 or 12 appearance is very very low at this point
When Donna said 'let's go & kick it's arse', it was like she's never been away, like she's never forgotten her adventures with the Doctor. Donna's went from just being daughter, grandaughter, wife & mother to being all those wonderful things, but with the added advantage of friend of the Doctor again, which is as it should be. What happened to Donna & the Doctor should never ever have happened.
I still totally feel that Donna is going to survive and keep her memories this time. I believe that fourteen is going to be forced to regenerate to save Donna. How it's going to play out I don't know. Unless it's a 12 and Clara thing and the Doctor is forced to forget his best friend this time. Which could be why he screams why does it have to be this. It's reminding him of what he went through with Clara.
EDIT: New Trailer PROVES Doctor Who's Future Is Brighter Than Ever - watch here! ruclips.net/video/UF6UinVUIpw/видео.html We’ll have more trailer coverage coming in the next few days, so keep an eye out for that! In the meantime let us know your thoughts and theories about what might be happening with the Doctor, Donna, the Toymaker, or anything else. There’s so much to chew on!
It's really quite a feat how you manage to speculate and waffle on for 14 minutes about absolutely.......nothing. lol You "did" pick up on number 47 as a Star Trek connection though. Gatwa also looking good with that tache. Hope he gets to keep it coz it gives him that "Beverly Hills Cop" vibe.
I wonder if The Toymaker will trap The Doctor inside one of his games, where The Doctor encounters versions of himself to serve as cameo appearances from the likes of the 11th Doctor 9th Doctor (I wish) and maybe even some companions Also offtopic and I know you guys have done rankings of Christmas specials, but is there any planned rankings for ALL feature length special episodes of the modern era. Christmas, the 2009 specials, the new year specials and Legend of the Sea Devils and Power of the Doctor.
As BIG a fan I am of David TENnants Tenth Doctor, I was a little disappointed to not see Ncuti show up post Whitaker regeneration. But, I understand the reason why, and, I do hope he does get a proper regeneration scene himself.
I think in addition to Marvel, RTD is also drawing influence from shows like 'Stranger Things' for his second stint as showrunner (like how he used 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' as an influence on the revival during his first tenure).
She didn't sleep through the Racnoss, she was there helping the doctor not die, or watching the doctor be taken away after dying depending on which timeline you're in. Bit of an oopsie but we'll let you off! 😂 *EDIT* As stated by @markosborne7776 , since Donna's memory was wiped, as far as she knew, she had nothing to do with the event in question. Therefore, the Racnoss event is yet another that, in her mind, she slept through. Have a great day!
I think Sean was referring to the alternative timeline from "Turn Right", where Donna didn't go for the job that led to her aborted wedding to the Racnoss spy from "The Runaway Bride". She was home the night of the Racnoss Invasion in that reality and wasn't there to pull Ten back from his Time Lord Victorious-style need to obliterate the Racnoss.
@@generalilbisshe was out in town on a Christmas night out as that was happening, then witnesses the doctor’s body being wheeled into a UNIT ambulance.
@@generalilbis I think you've missed my point but that's okay! Sean was talking about how she usually sleeps through alien invasions, but unfortunately, to illustrate this he brought up the one occasion where no matter which timeline you're in, she wasn't actually sleeping through that one! In fact, in the Turn Left reality, not only was she actually there to witness to the Racnoss attack, but was the only one in the group of people to recognise that it was indeed a web and not a star. Later, she was actually on scene when 10's dead body was put into the vehicle and was present to tell Rose Tyler that he is dead. In summary, Whoculture got this bit wrong. Other than that, a fantastic breakdown of the material provided in this magnificent trailer!
Back in 1966, the 1st Doctor said he'll likely meet the Toymaker again. In that story, the Doctor effectively cheated and won the Toymaker's game, destroying his realm in the process. I wonder if the 14th Doctor yelling 'Why does it have to be this?!' is referring to their last encounter. As in, why does the Toymaker have to go to such a huge, damaging scale. Maybe the Toymaker is back to make sure the Doctor can't win, claiming the universe as his new realm. Also, I have a feeling that the 14th Doctor is going to sacrifice a regeneration to save Donna. Somehow making Donna regenerate, or giving her one of his lives, so she can 'die' but also 'regenerate' into a version of herself that can live while safely retaining her memories of the Doctor. Bearing in mind, a while ago Chibnall said that some of the 60th anniversary stuff coincidentally sort of links to a premise he introduced in Power of the Doctor. Maybe throughout these specials, the 14th Doctor is still weak from post regeneration. Perhaps he uses some of that fizzing regeneration energy to save Donna, and give himself a new face - Ncuti Gatwa. That final frame of him could be this spoilery hidden green screen effect; he might well be with the Guardians of the Edge. It would explain why the BBC social media promos keep calling DT the 14th Doctor and NG just the Doctor. I think there's gonna be 2 14th Doctors.
i mean since the extended media is canon there should have been plenty of encounters in between so it shouldn't be about that unless they are just saying that this is the toymaker before those other meetings
The Doctor had encountered the Toymaker before the events of The Celestial Toymaker (I belive the New Adventures books, possibly Lungbarrow, have him encounter this during his time at the TimeLord academy) and he had been supposed to be in the cancelled second season of Colin Baker story The Nightmare Fair (later novelised from the script and then adapted for audio on Big Finish) as well as there being several encounters within Big Finish, for a villain that's only had one appearance in a mostly missing 1st doctor story has quite a lot of interest!
I definitely think that is a part of it! Cause we see him screaming something about "...me" at the Toymaker. I think it's something along the lines of "your fight is with me!" I have a feeling it is!
I can't tell you how excited I am to see Donna again. If the Celestial Toymaker was originally supposed to be the transition for the first regeneration from Hartnell to Troughten, it makes sense he'd be the one to bring about the regeneration from Tennant to Gatwa. It could just be that Tennant is there to save Donna and restore her memories and that "destiny" is the reason for regenerating into Tennant for a short time.
Personally, I'm glad we've not seen any shots of The TARDIS, The New Sonic Screwdriver or Wilf and I'm glad we've not been told HOW Donna gets her memories back. Because these are all special scenes that need to be seen at the time for true emotion. And I'm also happy that we're finally go back to London. I know we've had London a few times in Moffatt and Chibnall's era but this is a proper homecoming. ☺️
I wonder if the tenth doctor, at some point during his run (possibly onscreen? Possiblyduring the donna season) Came across and ruined the toy makers plan.... unknowingly (so it was never referenced explicitly), and so with some re jigging the toy maker has re worked his plans and has made the 13th regenerate into look of the 10th, or creates the look of the 10th in 14th form as part of some kind of revenge, hence the clothes changing during regeneration and them looking similar to the toy makers outfit in some shots?
Also worth noting that the Unit helipad we see is the same location where Mel Bush can be seen in the reveal picture for her return, so she may be in the 60th or at least involved with Unit in series 14
@@Lumibear. It's heawily implied, that at the end of the "child's" (or Ruth's) run with Division, they used the Chameleon arch to rewrite her physiology and turn her into a proper Gallifreyan Timelord, including the 13 lives limitation. That's why at the end of 11th's run he needed a boost.
Sorry Guardian, but no, the current comicstrip in Doctor Who magazine - Liberation Of The Daleks - which runs up to the first special being screened is effectively canon. The following is a quote from issue 548… “Russell T Davies, our new showrunner, has long admired the DWM strip,” (says the title’s editor Marcus Hearn) “And that’s why he’s granted us the honour of telling the Fourteenth Doctor’s first story in an adventure that dovetails with the most recent episode. For the first time in our 43-year history, the strip is now in lockstep with the television series’ continuity.” Russell T Davies said, “From day one, I wanted to increase ties between the show and the magazine. I love it when we’re in sync! A lot of people will be thinking, David’s not the real Doctor, he’s a trick, an illusion, a flashback. But no. He’s real. And DWM can help us underline that.”
Just met John Barrowman yesterday at Comic Con Africa! He was so kind and gave his time and attention to me! Never thought it would happen as a long time Who fan!
I must admit, this is the first time I've looked forward to a Doctor Who story for some time. Can't wait to see this three-parter and what comes after now that Russell T. Davies is back in control of the show.
Near the end of the trailer you could hear Jodie's gasp when she regenerates as Ncuti appears, maybe she has a brief cameo near that scene when Ncuti appears
I think they only used the sound from her regeneration specifically for this trailer, as you can also hear the TARDIS in the background, which is odd, honestly. Maybe it's a mix of sounds from regeneration, TARDIS flying and other stuff.
@@Croftice1 yea, probs, but I would be nice to see Jodie again, even if it has been less than a year since we last saw them, maybe if she does appear, even for a brief cameo, RTD will give her some awesome writing for her for once
I'm getting more and more convinced that David Tennant isn't really David Tennant, and is actually Ncuti to everyone looking him. That is to say Jodie regenerated into Ncuti, but for the Toymaker's game, to really get at the Doctor, he wants to put Donna in danger, and how on the edge it would be if everyone but Donna thought they looked as they did when they were with Donna. But everyone is actually seeing Ncuti. Explains why the clothes regenerated, because it's the Toymaker's "SHIMMER~!" and why Donna doesn't immediately die on seeing him. She doesn't remember Ncuti after all, she remembers Tennant. Also explains Ncuti's "What the hell is going on here?" line.
Here’s my theory about Donna: She finally regains her memories and the doctor (or some other powerful event) splits her with her memories in one body and a Donna without memories. Also the memory Donna turns into a Time Lord.
It is a possibility, though you ,do realise , that could bring Dr who to an end !!! You know like, Donna and Doctor, becoming kind of Adam and eve for galafrey??
Although, I wouldn't want to believe they'd do that , As like in the episode with the gangers Working around toxic waste . It covers discrimination, when the avatars ,gain awareness ...... and the doc , ridicule s them for it
YEAH a new WhoCulture video always makes it better. I… definitely missed some of this stuff! The trailer is really cool looking though, I’m excited to see Donna, Sylvia and Wilf return.
Trailer looks great! Regarding David not regenerating in Jodie’s clothes it’s a trivial detail but in my opinion, its not like Jodie’s clothes were extremely feminine that David would appear to be in drag🤔 Personally, I always enjoy seeing the new doctor in the previous ones clothes because it symbolizes change and the unfamiliarity as the new doctor has to rediscover themself
On one hand I really wanna see Billie Piper make an appearance as Rose rather than just as The Moment, however I really feel like that would take away from Donna's return completely. Regardle😮ss there is no way that Donna's daughter being named Rose is just a coincidence so maybe well get a reference to her being her namesake, possibly Donna mentioning that she named her daughter after this wonderful woman who did great but that she cant remember how she knows her for the life of her, due to The Doctor constantly mentioning her and Rose having saved her life, or even just as simple as she liked the name Rose but doesnt remember where she got it from.
I don't believe the Doctor regenerating into the new costume excuse for a minute. Firstly because I don't believe RTD would have any issue with that, second because RTD wouldn't change something so ingrained into every regeneration unless there was a plotline reason, and finally because the Master had already regenerated into Jodie's costume 30 mins earlier.
Exactly, seeing a man (the Master) in the costume of 13th Doctor is no shame or anything, David could've done it with no issues, that excuse has to have a storyline reason behind it, not the simple "I didn't want David in Jodie's clothes" crap, that RTD said. That's a very very cheap excuse and it doesn't work for me. David could have survived a few minutes in those clothes. There's also a wardrobe in the TARDIS, so not like 14th had to spend the whole 60th anniversary wearing the previous regeneration's costume, would he now? The biggest issue I have with the situation overall is David being officially acknowledged as 14th. He's only there for the 3 specials, not even a whole series for god's sake. So if he was just an accident, a previous Doctor called back somehow to resolve some stuff about Donna, then the change of his clothes would also make perfect sense, if it wasn't a proper regeneration. But it is and that's where they screwed up big time. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad David is back and all, but him being an official 14th Doctor for only 3 episodes, really sucks. Ncuti was officially announced as 14th, but because of his busy schedule or something they had to call David as a substitute for the specials. I get it but making him officially 14th Doctor and pushing Ncuti to be 15th. Well it is, what it is.
Well, technically speaking, if there's a story reason for the costume change, RTD, *wouldn't* want David in Jodie's costume. So he's being totally truthful in a deliberate misdirection way. With the added bonus of making people lose their minds... 🤣
@@ChristianJull Fair enough. But what if it's not? What if there's no in story explanation whatsoever? Still I'm more concerned with the messed up official numbering, rather than clothes. Yep the clothes regeneration doesn't make sense in universe, but it would be easily forgiven, if it wasn't a proper regeneration, like some sort of accident. They could easily do that, but chickened out for some reason. We have to wait and see. They might surprise us.
Oh, I can't describe how much I've missed this ... what a joy, seeing the Doctor and Donna again. Welcome back, Russell T. Davies, David and Catherine ...!
speaking of star trek reference to "47" I wonder if Rule of Acquisition 47 has any relevance to Who; "Don't trust a man wearing a better suit than your own.". Ha ha.
or 4 add 7 is 11 and matt smith said he would come back if asked? but i wouldnt mind either way i love 11, 4 and 7 and i think its unlikely 11 will return
Or it would be a poster for the real documentary "room 47," which is about people who try too hard to find symbolism in films (in that specific case, Kubrick's.) lol
I noticed that, in the scene where the Toymaker’s sitting in the gun platform on UNIT Tower, he’s already taken a shot at the Shard. So, maybe he’s shooting at random targets in London and the Doctor’s trying to get him to focus on him. Also, I thought the Doctor was doing another “I don’t want to go!” when he’s looking emotional and telling Donna he doesn’t know if he can save her this time. Anyway, fan theory, I wonder if this time it’s Donna sacrificing herself for the Doctor (as she’s obviously still got that Metacrisis timelord energy inside her). Maybe she’s responsible for helping him regenerate into the Fifteenth Doctor.
I'm not convinced that Tennant is the 14th Doctor.... I think that this is Rose's Doctor... Toymaker manipulation swapping both Doctors at the point of regeneration...and would explain the clothing change and it would explain the focus on Donna he is the Doctor/Donna
I feel like that would just over complicate things without adding anything. When they regenerated the Doctor was surprised to be back in this body, metacrisis wouldn't because it's their only body.
My prediction: Donna is going to yell at The Doctor that she never asked him to save her in the first place and how he stole the best thing that had ever happened to her before immediately shifting back into momma bear mode ready to kick the entire universes arse if necessary. 🥰
@@chromedahomie yeah because the doctors adventures happened to Donna in the past that doesn’t change them being the best thing that had happened to her
10:14 I’d also like to point out that 14’s clothes aren’t exactly the same as 10’s with the tartan trousers and blue coat. Obviously he’s keeping a very similar style but it’s interesting to see that Neil Patrick Harris is wearing very similar if not the same tartan. I think it must be related otherwise it’s just a really interesting choice from the costume team
Donna Dies. 1. A character is usually portrayed as near perfect to get the audience to love them in order to make the biggest impact when they die. 2. RTD's Doctor Who has ALWAYS been a tragedy. Think of bad wolf bay. Remember the "journey's end" episode, the "family of blood" episode, etc. 3. The Doctor's comment about not being able to save Donna sounds like foreshadowing. 4. The point of bringing back David & Catherine is to get fans re-hooked to the show. This is most easily accomplished by creating a huge emotional reaction to the story. Hence... Donna dies, and the Doctor travels with her child. Which is an attempt to transfer the emotions we will feel over Donna's death to her posterity. They'll probably even have her child use some of Donna's speech patterns etc to get us emotional hooked to the new companion. 5. If we are emotionally hooked to the new companion, and the new companion accepts the new Doctor, the audience is more likely to accept the new Doctor as well. 6. All of this makes it more likely the audience will continue to watch just because of the emotional impact. It's all physiological manipulation. "Only the emotional damage is real."
I have no idea what's coming next -- I am afraid Donna will die, and that will make me very, very sad. I hope RTD will pull out a miracle for Donna. I love the thought that the Doctor will sacrifice himself for Wilf AGAIN! I mean, that would be so poetic and perfect. Anyway, thank you and I can't wait to take the 3 special journey with you!
I'm hoping with my entire being that Donna dying will be a sort of red Herring where it's a risk throughout to play with the audiences' emotions and will be avoided somehow in the end!
In season 7, episode 4 - The power of three, the cubes first became active for "47" minutes - also happened to be the first episode Kate was in Dr who I think - coincidence 🤔
I wonder if Ruth Madeley's character will be UNIT's new scientific advisor? Given the Doctor tells Shirley Anne Bingham (Madeley's character) about Donna's mind wipe, perhaps she helps to counteract said issue?
My reaction to the trailer was pure emotional turmoil! I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, scream with excitement! I genuinely can't wait for this to air, I'm definitely gonna have the tissues on standby as I know I'm gonna cry!
Since how long ago this was all written and shot I wouldn't call explaining the clothes change retroactive. This that are done for a meta reason can still be explained in universe at the same time.
11:19 see when I first watched the trailer I was convinced the "if I can keep you safe this time" was added in post and the "I dont know" was probably in reference to his identity.
I would give an entire paycheck to sit and watch 60th Anniversary Special with Sean in person. There is so many things I never notice, and I am very excited.❤
'I have these dreams that I've lost something lovely' is how I've felt about this show for too long now. I'd like to think it's RTDs meta narrative for the specials.
The shot of David tenant running on the unit building if u look closely it cuts to a wide shot and you can see no ONE. Is actually behind him on the helipad, but when ur cuts to a close shot Donna and Kate and the other women is in the back, and they look clearly edited in, I hope u guys see this ! @who culture
Excellent review. I have 2 issues with Russel T. Davies. 1) Kills off to many people. 2) Continually destroys London. Now knowing Disney is involved and there is a shot of Stark Tower I wonder where this franchise might be going. Will we get a hundred spinoffs that we can all pay extra for to stream.
Must confess, as soon as I finished rewatching the trailer for the third time, I mentally started a timer for Sean or Ellie to drop a new WhoCulture video to guide us through it. Was not dissapointed, and thank you Sean for breaking it down. It matters so much for us to have true fans doing this instead of uninvested reporters reading scripts. You guys are the White Guardians of Who Culture.
The shot we’ve seen of 15 in his regeneration outfit has a heavy donna vibe in what he says and how he says it, with the rumour of the doctor splitting during his regeneration im calling it now, donna regenerates into 15
10 years ago I was near the movie theater and they were playing something called Dr. Who 50th. That's all the marquee said. I bought a ticket on a whim and sat down. I walked out of that theater converted and immediately started adding Dr. Who dvd's to my Netflix Queue. I hope there is at least 1 person who falls in love with it the same random way I did.
11:57 honestly Sean I was thinking the same thing as you before you even started that third theory I too thought of the “bait and switch” being a possibility but imagine this what if this is how the 14th Doctor Regenerates what if he saves Wilf again but what if both of them got enough of a dose of radiation and the doctor’s sacrifice was pointless Edit: also what if “47” plays a role not just for the 60th but actually shows up throughout Ncuti Gatwa’s whole first season not getting resolved until the finale kind of like how the name “Saxon” first appeared prior to Series 3, or alternatively how “Bad Wolf” resurfaced at the end of “Turn Left” and played a significant part in setting up the Series 4 Finale
This is the most exciting thing to happen to doctor who in a long time. I wish that Russell T Davies, David Tennant, and everybody else involved in this reboot just wanted to do it forever.
I can honestly say, with my hand on my hearts❤❤, that I thought that... upon watching each of the trailers from the beginning, that the 60th anniversary villain was the Celestial Toymaker. May the moon of Poosh land on me if I'm lying...
Tharries pointed out what sounded like Jodie's gasp just as Ncuti appears.. I'm thinking of the alternative reality that the monks created in Extremis & The pyramid at the end of the world... The toymaker is shown looming down as a massive puppeteer,, ➡ Has he created an alternative reality to stage a bizarre revenge...and the Tennent doctor has to break the paradox created, similar to The wedding of River Song..He has to cease existing for the true NEXT Doctor to emerge ...Hence his anguish .. (Room 47, made me think of escape rooms too, the 47 on helicopter is a clue, )
The grunt that appears in the Ncuti Gatwa scene sounds like Jodie's grunt, so could he regenerate back into Jodie, and then into Ncuti, as if David's fourteenth doctor shouldn't have happened
I think they just used a mix of sounds they had at hand, so naturally Jodie's regeneration. Pure coincidence with no connection whatsoever. You can also hear the TARDIS in the background, which is odd. When 13th regenerated, the TARDIS was already landed, stationary, so engines were off at that time.
If I remember correctly, in Journeys End, Dalek Caan prophecised that one of the Doctors companions would still die. That still didn't happen......maybe until now. I'm wondering more whether the doctor can reverse Donna's metacrisis to either himself or Wilfred Mott and one of them sacrifices themselves to save Donna.
I haven't been this excited about Doctor Who since- well, since The Day of the Doctor if I'm honest! Thanks to Shaun & Ellie for all you're doing to spread the news 😊
"That's a lot to ask for for Bernard Cribbins to do", truer words have never been said considering the man's been dead as of July 27th of 2022... May he rest in peace.
I reckon that Donna is on borrowed time. What if the Doctor can only temporarily halt her mind burning when she gets her memories back? His saying he may not be able to save her this time would make sense when you consider the above. Donna wanting to kick arse would be her making her death have meaning like she wanted in "The Fires of Pompeii"
I was going to call this a reach but now after writing it all out I'm banking on this!! 'What?' We know Doctor Donna existed. It could be that that part of the doctor and his energy (that was in Donna) is the version of the regeneration that we are seeing. A kind of intermediary between Jodie to Ncuti and that this is that DNA and energy recombining with the doctor. 'Why?' This could explain the clothes change, why Donna doesn't seem so Doctor Donna, why Donna isn't dying, how this version of the Doctor is back and why Destiny is still happening to Donna. While it might sound far fetched there are a few reasons and explanations as to 'How?' It'd be hard to understand how it happened but we have the Celestial Toymaker around, Donna is having strange dreams and it's the first time that the Doctor has regenerated into another doctor ON EARTH since the David Tennant.
I mean the one thing that could be explained by the clothes changing is the fact that while Whitaker's Doctor battled the Master that switch may have changed the Regeneration matrix that the doctor has used all these years; just an idea...by the way Cheers...
Reading some of the comments. A thought has appeared. What if the Doctor was pulled out of the regeneration midway and given an old body to fight the Toymaker? Then returned to the regeneration when he was finished. That would explain the scene were Ncuti was going "What the hell is going on?" On the thing about Donna. 1 She called her daughter after Rose Tyler. I think it was to do with the her emotions at the time. It could have weaking "The Door" in her mind enough to let a name come out. 2 Maybe after Donna had her daughter. The essence of the doctor is now between the 2 of them and it is at a level that Donna can remember the Doctor without dying. I could be right in both, Wrong in both. Partly right in things about Donna. However it does not matter, it is in the fun of what we think is going to happen.
I have been a Dr. Who Fan for a very long time, and I do not understand why BBC could not let BBC America pick up the new 3 Dr. Who 60th Anniversary Specials with David Tennant and Donna Noble, as this to the, Only Way, I will ever see this new Dr. Who Special. Thank goodness for a small bit of it on RUclips.
@@sheersternfeld1914 exactly, and the shots of interior where they say the tardis ran away. It looks alot like a cyber ship. Maybe the reason we haven't seen anything about special 2 is because the cybermen are back and have a new design maybe

12:04 More likely that Wilff will sacrifice himself for Donna. Probably as a means to remedy the Metacrisis in Donna. While Donna lives on with her memories intact, she loses the Doctor portion of the DoctorDonna fusion. Wilff may even get to experience Donna's memories of travelong with the Doctor, something he's sort of longed to do but knows he's far too old to do. It would be a bitter-sweet but plausible way to save Donna, and Wilff would do it to save Donna in a heart beat. Even faster and with more conviction than he did so for the random guy in the Radiation chamber. Nothing, not even the Doctor could stop Wilff from saving Donna if given the choice.
I have a funny theory : in "The celestrial Toymaker", the Toymaker was the creator of his own world in wich he was bringning peoples to play his games. The doctor tricks him and his world was destroy. May be he created a world just for the doctor and bringed some of his friends too. He waited for a regeneration to transform the doctor in an avatar who looks like Tenth (that explained the change of costume in the regenaration). When the doctor will got of this world, he will be Ncuti Gatwa who really is the 14th..
I wonder if the part where 14 is yelling is another "I could do so much more" moment. Is he realizing how incredibly short this regeneration will be? Or, going along with the rose petal thing, is the Toymaker somehow making him relive his loss of Rose?
I can already hear 2 of wilfred's lines in my head. Upon seeing the doctor: "it's you...the Bloomin' 'eck you been? World's gone mad since you left! Upon encountering the antagonist aliens: GERROUTOFIT YOU BLOOMING ALIENS!
I don't know, people always try to attach so much significance to the number 47. It shows up a lot in film and TV, not just in Star Trek. As someone who used to work as a grip, C-47s are what we called clothespins. And I always assumed that the references to 47 were mostly a joke, in reference to clothespins. Nothing magical or mysterious. It's just when they need a number to use, they use 47 for no other reason than to have a laugh. There's even one episode of Star Trek TNG where they are talking about the computer and even say 'subroutine C-47' making it almost all too obvious. It just kind of became tradition to use '47' but it really just comes from clothespins, which are used a TON on set for all kinds of things. So the use in Doctor Who here is more likely just keeping with that tradition than any direct reference to Star Trek.
I have a theory but I think tom baker may have a little cameo in the 60th. The title of the first episode of the 60th is the star beast which is also the name of a fourth doctor comic that features beep the meep..... the wrarth warriors also make an appearance in the 60th and they were in the fourth doctor comics too. If they are gonna include these characters plus name one of the episodes after a 4th doctor comic book, then it's highly likely the 4th doctor is gonna make an appearance somehow. I will be very surprised if he doesn't make an appearance becuase everything is just pointing towards him being in it in my opinion. You can't include beep the meep and not have the the 4th doctor involved if you know what I mean...
Theory about 47: Up to this point RTD has been showrunner for 46 stories (10 in S1, 10 in S2, 9 in S3, 10 in S4 and 7 in specials), The 47 could simply mean that these 3 episodes are story 47.
Don’t think they’d bring back Tennant and Tate to go with another downbeat resolution. Despite appearances, I suspect Donna will be able to regain her memories and survive. Have a feeling RTD will want to start his second tenure on a more upbeat “let’s go!” sort of tone. The Celestial Toymaker does seem to have Mysterio overtones though. That, along with Avengers inspired UNIT base and number 47, does seem to be RTD playing out his geek wishes.
I wonder how much of trailer is from Wild Blue Yonder? My guess is most of the footage is from episode 1 and 3. Would be nice if there is an announcement very soon that The Celestial Toymaker has been found and will drop prior to the 60th or there is an animation of it that has already been done...
Another note: in that shot of the shade from the Unit building and the toy maker on the gun, it actually appears to be on fire and has a chunk out if it. Maybe the toymaker shot out that bit with the gun he's on
Interesting theory one could be that Wilfred could be sacrificing himself to save Donna either for her to remember the doctor or that something happens and Wilfred sacrifices himself to save Donna in some other way
I said it last night, I say it again, it looks like we are entering another Golden Age of Doctor Who, what a trailer!
All we had to do was brace through the winter of discontent, and the sun seems to be rising again ❤❤
Their hasn’t been a golden age since the first 4 doctors. But if you enjoy it more power to you . 🫶🏼
@@brynstarkiller7419First 4? Which 4 are the first 4

They probably didn’t have the scenes they wished they had so they’re just keeping it all for now
Definitely option 2. They won't want to detract from the fact that this will be his last on screen performance. R.I.P to a wonderful human being.
Hi they did apparently film all they intended to with Mr Cribbins.
It's probably because of Bernard Cribbins death in July 2022, and they want to respect him by leaving out his character.
@@NS-ks5qc
I heard a rumour they had plans in case he did pass before they finished filming. Not sure if they are true, however, if they are, I doubt they'd just cut it.
I find it ironically funny that as Dr Who goes on Disney+ for international audiences, it will probably have the best CGI of all the shows on there.
The show renound for having bad CGI
best CGI since... I dunno, the space ship model from Trial of a timelord? lol which, not gonna lie, still holds up.

My guess is TARDIS knows that Donna is important and telepathically influences the Doc to re-use 10's face.
For Wilfred, it's definitely because he has a key role in the plot. According to Russell T. Davies he was able to confirm all of his scenes before he unfortunately passed away. Russell confirmed this in a reply to a comment on one of his Instagram posts :)
Also they want Wilfs appearance to tear out our heart strings. He is beloved for a good reason.
This trailer is AMAZING and I’m so excited to see David tennant and Catherine rate again….. however I do think the chances of a 11 or 12 appearance is very very low at this point
I think 11 is a lot more likely than 12

Or they are playing it safe
The fact that Gatwa is smiling as he regenerates makes me think things go well for Donna

We’ll have more trailer coverage coming in the next few days, so keep an eye out for that!
I wonder if The Toymaker will trap The Doctor inside one of his games, where The Doctor encounters versions of himself to serve as cameo appearances from the likes of the 11th Doctor 9th Doctor (I wish) and maybe even some companions

Jodies gasp and regeneration noise plays in the ncuti shot as well. Could well be an important detail
*EDIT*
As stated by @markosborne7776 , since Donna's memory was wiped, as far as she knew, she had nothing to do with the event in question.
Turn Left episode she does.
Once Donna’s memories were wiped, as far as she knew she missed it. That’s what Sean was talking about.
This is the first time Who has got me excited for several years. Please please please let it not be a disappointment.
I hope the Toymaker is just as frightening as the first. Yes I am old enough to remember watching it and he was frightening for a 9 year old
i mean since the extended media is canon there should have been plenty of encounters in between so it shouldn't be about that unless they are just saying that this is the toymaker before those other meetings
I think it's something along the lines of "your fight is with me!"
I have a feeling it is!
Hmmm, that's a really well put together theory. Well done, my friend!
Now this is how i like doctor who to be. Full of action, drama, suspense, dark and horror like
This feels like my favorite kind of Doctor Who again ❤
Me too cant wait to watch again
I think Wilf will take the hit for Donna some how which will also break the Doctor
Ooooh that’s brilliant 😢
I think the fourteenth doctor sacrifices himself to save Donna and that’s how he regenerates into 15.
That does seem a strong possibility! Echoes of when he sacrificed himself to save Wilf.
Doctor could be using his regeneration energy as it has been less than 12 hours.
I thought that, PLUS he’s protected by Chibnal lore now: infinitely regenerative.

Sorry Guardian, but no, the current comicstrip in Doctor Who magazine - Liberation Of The Daleks - which runs up to the first special being screened is effectively canon. The following is a quote from issue 548…
“Russell T Davies, our new showrunner, has long admired the DWM strip,” (says the title’s editor Marcus Hearn) “And that’s why he’s granted us the honour of telling the Fourteenth Doctor’s first story in an adventure that dovetails with the most recent episode. For the first time in our 43-year history, the strip is now in lockstep with the television series’ continuity.”
Russell T Davies said, “From day one, I wanted to increase ties between the show and the magazine.

Clever theory and makes sense.
seeing it live on BBC ONE was amazing, I can't wait for November 23rd!
Here’s my theory about Donna:
She finally regains her memories and the doctor (or some other powerful event) splits her with her memories in one body and a Donna without memories. Also the memory Donna turns into a Time Lord.
that would be a paradox you cant have 2 of the same person in the same space time continuity unless they are twins
or her "exploding" ends up being a regeneration....and we get her coming back as Doctor #16....... 🙂
Nah, doing the time lord angle again feels like she just never gets away from it. Bit repetitive. I'd rather we stay away from turning into
It is a possibility, though you ,do realise , that could bring Dr who to an end !!!

Isn't it already establishing the parallel world she's trapped in, the gateway in Torchwood (at the time) has been closed, permanently?
There's a rumor that Wilf mentioned the name Rose to her to pick when she transitioned.
@@andrewmurray1550 when has doctor who ever been permanent
When Hartnell regenerated into Troughton his clothes changed with him.
Rule #1: RTD lies.
Oh, I can't describe how much I've missed this ... what a joy, seeing the Doctor and Donna again.

I feel like Tennants final words might be the opposite. I think he’ll It’s time to go or I want to go
I'm not convinced that Tennant is the 14th Doctor....
Interesting idea would make a great story one day maybe
My prediction: Donna is going to yell at The Doctor that she never asked him to save her in the first place and how he stole the best thing that had ever happened to her before immediately shifting back into momma bear mode ready to kick the entire universes arse if necessary. 🥰

Donna Dies.
God it's like Catherine Tate just walked back into the role, she's brilliant
My reaction to the trailer was pure emotional turmoil! I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, scream with excitement! I genuinely can't wait for this to air, I'm definitely gonna have the tissues on standby as I know I'm gonna cry!
Since how long ago this was all written and shot I wouldn't call explaining the clothes change retroactive. This that are done for a meta reason can still be explained in universe at the same time.
I’m so glad they haven’t ruined any mr Wilfred Mott appearances for us!!! RIP SIR Bernard Cribbins ❤
11:19 see when I first watched the trailer I was convinced the "if I can keep you safe this time" was added in post and the "I dont know" was probably in reference to his identity.

'I have these dreams that I've lost something lovely' is how I've felt about this show for too long now. I'd like to think it's RTDs meta narrative for the specials.

Saw it last night, and got sooo excited. It looked absolutely brilliant! Was waiting for you to upload a breakdown so I would know what I missed.
11:57 honestly Sean I was thinking the same thing as you before you even started that third theory I too thought of the “bait and switch” being a possibility but imagine this what if this is how the 14th Doctor Regenerates what if he saves Wilf again but what if both of them got enough of a dose of radiation and the doctor’s sacrifice was pointless
Edit: also what if “47” plays a role not just for the 60th but actually shows up throughout Ncuti Gatwa’s whole first season not getting resolved until the finale kind of like how the name “Saxon” first appeared prior to Series 3, or alternatively how “Bad Wolf” resurfaced at the end of “Turn Left” and played a significant part in setting up the Series 4 Finale

The number 47 could be a "warning" artifact of the TARDIS, in much the same way as the recurrence of the phrase "bad wolf" once was.
"That's a lot to ask for for Bernard Cribbins to do", truer words have never been said considering the man's been dead as of July 27th of 2022... May he rest in peace.
The real reason was RTD didn't want him wearing the costume but I imagine because of that, he's got an in-universe reason too that he wrote
'What?'
We know Doctor Donna existed. It could be that that part of the doctor and his energy (that was in Donna) is the version of the regeneration that we are seeing. A kind of intermediary between Jodie to Ncuti and that this is that DNA and energy recombining with the doctor.
'Why?'
This could explain the clothes change, why Donna doesn't seem so Doctor Donna, why Donna isn't dying, how this version of the Doctor is back and why Destiny is still happening to Donna.
While it might sound far fetched there are a few reasons and explanations as to 'How?'
It'd be hard to understand how it happened but we have the Celestial Toymaker around, Donna is having strange dreams and it's the first time that the Doctor has regenerated into another doctor ON EARTH since the David Tennant.
That would explain the scene were Ncuti was going "What the hell is going on?"
On the thing about Donna.
You got the Runaway Bride as the wrong reference my friend 😂 she was there for the Racnoss. Love the video though! ❤❤
I think the Blue Energy could be the doctors regeneration hasn't finished just like when he had his hand chopped off
Like when Melody regenerated and everyone was shooting at her. After a regeneration, your body is kinda indestructible.
@@sheersternfeld1914 exactly, and the shots of interior where they say the tardis ran away. It looks alot like a cyber ship. Maybe the reason we haven't seen anything about special 2 is because the cybermen are back and have a new design maybe
That's what I thought at first, but the slow-motion clip sure does look more like an energy shield of some kind rather than regen energy.
@@wallacewallaby5782 maybe they are bringing classic regeneration with all the different colours back maybe
@@strandedfoxnation1.145 It's not just the colour but the size of the effect which is not focused on just his hand, but appears to be a large rectangular or square shield. You can see the bright glowing edge of it behind the Doctor's head.
Nothing, not even the Doctor could stop Wilff from saving Donna if given the choice.
not sure if anyone noticed but at about 7:55 the shard was on fire
I have a funny theory : in "The celestrial Toymaker", the Toymaker was the creator of his own world in wich he was bringning peoples to play his games. The doctor tricks him and his world was destroy. May be he created a world just for the doctor and bringed some of his friends too. He waited for a regeneration to transform the doctor in an avatar who looks like Tenth (that explained the change of costume in the regenaration). When the doctor will got of this world, he will be Ncuti Gatwa who really is the 14th..
The shot of the Toymaker tossing up rose petals is an obvious reference to the similar shot in the film 'American Beauty.'

How wonderful was that trailer? How good did Tennant look? How much of a Quatermass vibe did you get (or was that just me)?
I’ve been waiting for this!!!!!!!
Exactly. Imo it’d be a crappy way to start 15’s run, dealing with grief and guilt over the loss of Donna. They both need hopeful outcomes.
I wonder how much of trailer is from Wild Blue Yonder? My guess is most of the footage is from episode 1 and 3. Would be nice if there is an announcement very soon that The Celestial Toymaker has been found and will drop prior to the 60th or there is an animation of it that has already been done...
Is there any significance to the license plate around 0:43? I cannot read it but was wondering if some type of hint…
