- Hi Guys!
In this video we talk about what my NASA Internship was like as well as my development as an engineer throughout this experience.
Imposter syndrome is very common among new engineers and I definitely wasn't an exception. Hope this video helps.

Que orgullo🇲🇽🎉 Muchas felicidades Kat por todo lo que has logrado, éxitos y bendiciones siempre👏💫
Great! Thank you for sharing your story Kat!
I love your confidence and ability to communicate effectively. After seeing the podcast on creativo im hooked on your journey. Being a first gen Mex-American from a immigrant single mother from Tecate B.C and having a similar background really hit home. Thank you for sharing those struggles. BTW I love you sweatshirt I'm currently serving in the Space Force. Congratulations again on all your accomplishments its a pleasure to meet you and I can't wait to follow you're progress your a real celebrity. Animo!
Loved the video! It was very informational and knowing that I’m having this normal feeling of imposter syndrome before my internship is great to hear! I know I just have to get over the hump that I’m feeling and this video helped a lot. Though the internship I got will be challenging, I feel better knowing what to expect out of it!
Super inspirational video❤️ love it
Love your videos, thanks Kat! 🤗
THANK YOUUU🤗🤗
Such an informative video...✌️

I just got an internship with NASA. This was helpful.
Good luck!!! You got this!🙌🏽
Same!
I got an offer jpl recently thanks for the video!
Kat me inspiras. Yo me gradué en Panamá como ingeniera aeronáutica. Espero algún día poder trabajar en Nasa ☺️
Felicidades!
🙌🙌🙌
Is wonderful your history... Is the reason for follow a dream.
This is asome! but look im hear to ask a few scientific questions did they brief you on 👽did they having any living life as organisms on other planets? Were we seeded? Where do the Anunaki come from and last but not least great job!!! 👏😊
I’m so happy for you to go to space and making POC woman represented in STEM!!
Love video. I wanted to ask how many years did it take you to get your bachelors degree and what help you motivate yourself to keep going. At the moment, I'm study electrical engineering and I'm taking classes like calc 2 and physics. My next question is how did you manage those classes even if there were challenging.
And also do you mentor students and if so could you mentor me?
Thank you so much!
Ooofff a long time! 😆 I went to community college for 3 years, then transferred to UCLA for another 3. At CC I decided to do an extra year because I actually retook some math classes in order to strengthen my foundation. At UCLA, I decided to take the extra year to spread out my coursework so I could also do internships at the same time.
The entire EE major is extremely challenging. There were so many moments when I thought I’d never make it. I think what helped me the most is the fact there was nothing else I wanted to do! My biggest tip would be to be as organized as it makes sense for YOU. We are all different and operate differently. Some people do okay blocking out time for specific tasks. Others do better by creating large picture goals. Whatever that looks like for you, you need to find out. Time management and self care will be most important.
I’m currently working on starting up a mentorship program. I should be announcing it in the coming weeks ☺️
@@KatVoltage Thank you so much. I'm definitely interested in your mentorship program.

Are those projects required more mathematic and physics or you just use your knowledge from what you learned?
Mostly Electronics knowledge, the math and physics are a part of what you need to know for electronics. I learned a lot on the job about the engineering side (:
how can we get an interahip at nasa?
Congratulations I just saw u got picked to go to space
Aww, JPL doesn’t offer Highschool internships 😞
They host challenges/ competitions for HS students though which may be a fun thing to do!

I know you’re not in HR and I’ve already checked the NASA website but why is it that you have to be a US citizen for NASA?! 😩
It’s more of a rhetorical question but as a DACA holder it just sucks to not even be able to be considered for internships let alone a career 😢
That’s because NASA is a government agency and the NASA IP is property of the US government. JPL is actually a lab run and operated by caltech so they accept permanent residents and foreign nationals on occasion. The JPL Visiting Researcher program has no citizenship restrictions. Hope this helps! I understand it’s frustrating.
