  • I went out to the Comal River in New Braunfels, Texas and filmed the entire stretch starting at Landa Falls by Wurstfest and ending at the San Antonio Street Bridge just after the Tube Chute and Float In.
    #Comal #ComalRiver #ComalTexas #NewBraunfels #FloatingRiver #TubingRiver
    I used the DJI Mavic Air 2 drone to capture the complete aerial view of that first half of the river and filmed two angles of each segment: one looking straight forward at a low altitude and one angle looking straight down to capture a bird's eye view of the people floating in tubes.
    There were some random angles I captured as well when I was out there so I used those shots quite a bit towards the end - I just thought it'd be missed if I didn't include them.
    I shot it all in 4K at 23.976 frames per second and colored the shots as well.
    I lived in New Braunfels from 2019 until 2022 and shot tons of footage with my drones while living there: I plan to slowly release these videos, especially as changes are made to the landscape to show the before and after. For example, I shot the construction (as it took place) for Wurstfest's new building and Marmon Mok (the architect) hired me to create a start-to-finish video. I recently shot the new parking lot on Hinman Street by Wurstfest so I'll make a before and after video for that stretch of road.
    Let me know if you like this video, I'd love to hear your thoughts because I plan on finishing the entire river to make a second video from the San Antonio Street Bridge to the Last Exit for tubers. I can even go all the way to the Guadalupe River if you think that's necessary.

    How long is this river and where does it start?

    • @cdmit27
      @cdmit27 3 месяца назад +1

      It's only 2 miles long. Shortest river in the state of Texas.

      @NomadicGear  3 месяца назад +1

      @@cdmit27 Exactly, very short and it starts in the Comal Springs sorta by Landa Park - it's not really an accessible area like the rest of the river is. You can go to Landa Park and kayak/canoe around but it's not really a swimming area. in between Landa Park and the Springs is an island that you can swim around at but you actually have to live in that neighborhood to access it. I grew up going there because my great Aunt lived there but haven't been there since the 90s (they sold after a huge flood). So basically the best access point to start the river float is in the video at Landa Falls right at Wurstfest.

      @@NomadicGeardo you mean spring island? It’s been accessible to the public for a while now. I know there was controversy about it. Dont know about the other island in the area though. But hinmand island and spring island are both accessible to the public considering you can find parking.

      The comal is very short as stated. Landa falls has the longest float. As OP stated thats your best bet. Im local and believe they are the best outfitter. Float is about 2.5-3 hours depending on your stops, flow, and crowds. Other option is to get in at hinman island or prince solmns park. Just pay for parking there, then pay your river fees and get in there , and get out at the last public exit near schlitterbahn (its marked on google maps). How you get back to your car is up to you but using an outfitter is easiest way. By using an outfitter you park at prince solms($20) or go to landa falls(free parking there btw) , use their tubes, and they give you a ride back.

      @@jakesingleton7692 Woah, I had no idea about Spring Island - at least I think that's the island I'm thinking of (has a wading pool and a canoe rack that I remember from my childhood). That's great to know!

      @@mattcal6423 Glad you enjoyed it! I actually couldn't tell you the artist - I have an account with ArtList.io and use a bunch of their music on there. There's no way to Shazam it and I'd have to find the file but it might be on an older drive somewhere. Look into ArtList tho and you can scroll around!

      I'm not sure but I bet this rain has browned it up quite a bit. I'm sure it's flowing great though.

    How deep is it

    • @NomadicGear
      @NomadicGear  Год назад +3

      It can be 4 feet at times and it can get deeper throughout - not sure how deep but it ranges: probably 6, 7 up to 10, 12 feet.
