- Hi I’m Steph! A DIYer, author, and podcast host. I live in Tallahassee, FL with my two adopted greyhounds. Both are retired racers adopted from Greyhounds as Pets in Jacksonville, FL.
I adopted Mac in 2018, and she was born 2014. I adopted Tosh in 2020, and she was born 2017.
Together they are Mac & Tosh (yes, that is a reference to my favorite computer, the Macintosh)!

So glad she is on the mend! I swear greyhound skin is like paper and I’m amazed how easily they bleed from just small cuts and scrapes. Our girl torn her dewclaw off at the dog park the other day and just stood there wagging her tail with blood running down her foot like “What?” So glad we have a first aid kit just for her.
Oh my goodness! How's your girl doing? I have a whippet friend that says most whippets get their dewclaws removed by the vet cause they tear so easily.
My greys when playing would sometimes spar like boxers with their front legs/paws. Getting scratches/cuts sometimes happened from claws. They are a bit thin skinned. To them they were just playing & having fun.
I am so glad that Tosh is okay. Please give her a gentle cuddle from me. Condolences to you and your family with your Aunt passing away.

Sorry about your aunt! Sorry about Tosh and glad to see she's on the mend. Have you ever talked about greyhounds having thin skin in a video? I imagine you have. EQ's cuts have all been small ones so far, and I count myself lucky.
Thanks Steve. I probably should have said it clearer, but yeah, these cuts are pretty common with greyhounds cause of their thin skin. Both dogs have had a ton of littles, but now both of them have had a cut that needed stitches.
My male Grey "MOOCH" ran into a barb-wired fence at a local school; old fence should have been removed. About a 12 inch area of skin wat torn loose and was hanging down flapping plus a second rip high on his shoulder People from all around came running over due to his screaming. On a weekend of course so went to emergency; he had settled down at this point.
cant recall the cost financially but it was high. Both my Greys were running around in this weekend no-leash dog area. My other Grey AMBER got ripped open by a loose dog that I could not intercept. Both mine were on leash but things happen really fast.
