Yeah it’s a pretty common technique in tracking to clip the line to the collar and have run from underneath and under the front leg. It’s helps control the dog while teaching it but then becomes a cue to do it later.
I hate when people misuse the harness. You want to train a dog use a slip leash. Slip leashes are to train dogs to stop pulling and have been used since dogs became a mans best friend. A harness is for when you want a dog to pull something. To force the dog to stop pulling while wearing a harness defeats the purpose of a harness. Alot of owners buy harnesses thinking there helping the dog or training the dog. No you're teaching them wrong. A K-9 that has already been trained using a slip is one that can use a harness. Or a dog who has had tones of training with its handler. For the average person id never recommend getting a harness for your dog. Even collars are bad for walking dogs. A collar is only good for a name tag. You want full control of your dog get a slip leash.
