Why didn't you do this? Why didn't you do that? Why didn't you say anything? The sheer fact is that I was a scared, vulnerable child and I was being threatened into silence.
People don’t understand that as children, we do not posses the verbal capability to voice what is happening to us. And depending on your age, you don’t even understand what is going on. I was molested by three different men from as far back as I can remember until I was 10. Even when I told, my family seemed more worried about protecting another family member than rallying around me, the VICTIM. I’m now 44 and finally facing everything that happened to me and it’s so hard. The after effects follow you for the rest of your life and affect all your relationships in life. We victims literally pay for the perpetrators actions for the rest of our lives.
Coming from a survivor of CSA I can tell you exactly WHY it's not being exposed! I was abused at 3 until i left home at 16, by my mothers husband, step father. I disclosed what was happening to my mother around 7 or 8(I think). My mother didn't know what was happening, of course. BUT after she knew, she never left him. My mom had mental problems. She didn't have the confidence or strength to leave him. It became a codependent relationship. She protected him by staying with him, and he knew it. And as long as she stayed it gave him permission to continue what he was doing. He knew it. It is a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" kind of thing in Hollywood. They ALL know somebody doing this OR they ARE THE ONES DOING IT!!
@@appiusforum I still have my struggles from time to time. But with God I continue to heal from it all. The biggest struggle I have is getting past the fact my mom didn't protect me after she knew. And the fact she is gone but that predator still walks around like nothing happened. Plus all my family has shunned me but accepts him just fine. Knowing he will get his in the end of he doesn't repent of his sins gives me some peace.
I'm glad you brought up the point about people not believing you. Your attacker also places that into your head. I'm the adult, you're a child, who would you believe? That in itself keeps you quiet.

A rush of emotion and thinking back to having the same thought process… I kept quiet because I knew that if it told, it would disrupt not just my life but my entire family’s life and I feared they would hate me for it. The fun episodes are great but conversations about real life and real struggle are my favorite. I was a bit taken aback by your dress though…I would think someone like you who had lived through hell would show a little less skin…seems you’ve had enough skin in the game and thankfully lived through it….
I am really looking forward to Part 2 of this interview with Kayleigh, Chad. It always another step of healing for me to confront this topic. I'll be 63 in August, and I am one of the oldest among the many cousins I have from one side of my parents' families. I was 4 years old, when the Predator molested me twice in a shed that was located behind my grandparents house. It was back in those days, the grooming seemed to be much easier for these perps to get their victims. This guy was like an adult to me, and back then, the only thing that matter was for us kids to "Respect your elders." He performed oral sex on me, and each time, he told me not to tell anyone because it was all my fault; no one would believe me; my parents would be hurt because of it; and no one would love me any more. When I was a few years older, at another family reunion; one of my aunts hand him one of my cousins who was about 1 - 1/2 years old at the time; in the house that was crowded with a lot of relatives. This child was ok about it for about a moment or so, before she seriously and literally screamed bloody murder. He had put his fingers through her diapers, and molested her. My Aunt removed her as fast as she could, but none of them who were there, knew what just happened, and he acted like he utterly innocent about it...but I knew what he had done. It was years later, when I was in my mid-teens at another family reunion, they had a set of chairs formed into a circle outside in a big yard. The Perp was sitting in one of the chairs, and next to him was another chair, but no one wanted to sit there. It seems like a lot of people still didn't know what was going on, or if they did, no one, seemingly so, was talking about it. It wasn't until I was in my late 20s, someone finally got me to open up, and that was when my healing began. Thank God and Amen. It was in 2011, after years I hadn't come to a family reunion; the Perp had died beforehand. I had no part in planning it, but I, unwillingly, contributed to the Mock Tribute. It was then, I knew for sure, this Perp had molested a LOT of my cousins. This led me to having the absolute worse PTSD experience in my life which lasted for about 1 1/2 - 2 months before I was finally able to fully snapped out of it, and be just me again. I am glad and grateful, that God had Greatly Blessed me with 2 Pastors; 2 Police Officers which one of them is a family- friend of mine; my family and other friends; and God Gift Of Timing when I went to a concert of a tribute group that played a song titled "Drift Away". Then I participated in another self-defense program.
Sexual abuse happens anywhere what happened to me at Knott's Berry farm on a ride by a strange man. 😠 I tell everyone to be careful when they go to fairs and amusement parks . It's good that you're telling your story, shout it from the rooftops !
