Looks like what happened with the enchanted sword was there was a shrine just above the ore, so vein miner (or whatever is the 1.4 version called) counted it as an ore and mined all 6 blocks of the shrine separately. You could've kept one and that wouldn't be cheating :)
That would be ore extractor
But underground shrines werent removed in 1.4?? Maybe calamity changed this or something also I encountered 2 sword shrines planetoids in my most recent world I never seen those

@@Aquastarlord217 the chasm that the enchanted sword was usually in was made much rarer and random sword shrines can spawn all over the cavern layer each have a chance ti have the enchanted sword
the squirrel squire is a sentry, not a minion, so it doesnt get affected by max minion increases, if you want more of them, you would need armor that affects the max number of sentries instead

it's for the better imo squirrel was kinda pain to rely on as a minion to start
Something kinda nice about it is that it means that you can stack the squirrel with minions for more early game summoner DPS

2:50 it's not a confliction with veinminer, it's more of a bug. when you veinmine something that has a different type of block on top of it, sword shrine for example, it will give you one of those items for every tile the object takes up. Sword shrine takes up 6 tiles, you get 6 swords. Same applies to things like life crystals
it killed me that he didn’t notice the sword shrine
and it somehow killed me again that he trashed every single sword

@@neilbautista9692 the point is he should have kept one, as there was a sword shrine, only the extra 5 needed to be trashed if aiming for "fair"
I did this with some life crystals once lol. 3 hearts per crystal
Prior to the update Wulfrum Armour was actually for all classes, though it was only really worth getting if you were summoner even then.
As well as that the Squirrel is a not a proper summon and is actually a sentry which is why you were unable to make multiple
I mena the wulfrum weapons are pretty crazy. Like the blunderbuss kinda carried until slime god. Crazy
Got a couple mods to reccomend if you want some good music:
- Unofficial Calamity Mod Music
- Calamity Infernum Mode Music
Both are up to date and excellent. They even offer options to synergize with one another.
Also, Infernum Mode is extremely good. It’s an additional harder difficulty made by one of the Calamity devs. It’s essentially a better Malice Mode.

I do not like mods that just make things hard and have no special reward other than: You beat it!!

My favorite music isn't even a mod. It's a resource pack you can use for regular and modded Terraria.
*[Kirby Sound & Music Pack]* - 62 sound tracks used. All fit so darn well with Terraria some how. All the songs used are listed on the workshop page too.
Example: Music_1 = Overworld Day - Peanut Plains (Kirby Super Star) or Music_33 = Underground Crimson - Techno Factory (Kirby’s Return to Dreamland)
Overhaul ost is great too
Remember to farm any Wulfrum Pylons you find, that continually summon in Wulfrum enemies. That will keep you stocked up on the scrap you need, and also drop those Energy Cores while in it's radius. Also, try the Digging Turtles and Treasure Pinger. And, if you want to do a summoner thing, skip the finches and try a Wulfram Controller.
Those Digging Turtles are a game changer, seriously.
The metal detector tho, early game reusable splunking.
There's a Wulfrum Lure now, which works as a reusable Wulfrum Pylon. Pop a Core in it and you get a mini event
I love the controller, it lets you be a healer!

Just to let you know, Sword Shrines do not have a chance to be fake anymore. They do, however, have a 2% chance to give you a Terragrim.
Also, I’ve been using this QoL mod in my playthroughs recently called Extra Pylons. As the name says, it gives more pylons to use like Space, Underground Jungle and a bunch of other ones that are cool to have. I think you should have this one so you can more easily manage NPCs from mods.

im pretty sure there was a sword in stone above the ore, so i think the vein miner mod gave you a sword for each block the sword stone took up

I always really enjoyed your playthroughs of various mods over on chippygaming, especially the more traditional low editing, little cut, long episodes. I feel like for playthroughs these are more enjoyable to watch as it is more of a "take along" then to just "show" the good parts. Would love to see that again, or at least still show some of the more tedious parts in a speed up, or summarized way. Anyways, really glad to see you back with gameplay and im very excited to see which class its going to be this time :)

The interesting thing with the VeinMiner/OreExtractor mod, the duplication with certain objects seems to be a bug. I find that it happens most often with furniture tiles, and the enchanted sword shrine is a furniture tile. The same thing happens to me when I use the mod to clear out underworld houses, I get about 6 or more extra doors and work benches when only one was destroyed
It happens when breaking tiles underneath a multi-tile block (and yes it is a known bug we've been trying to fix for ages). The biggest problem is the naturally generated multi tile blocks (life crystals, sword shrines, etc). Some recent fixes went out attempting to squash it, but clearly there are still some issues.

There's a bunch of wulfrum tools that are super useful. Wulfrum pingers, digging turtles, wulfrum lures, the acrobatics pack, they're all awesome. Also, the wulfrum minion is very good, it even has cute bleeps
By the way chippy for later reference there is a bug at the moment where uelibloom and auric ore doesnt spawn after killing providence and yharon. It might be fixed by the time you get to that stage but just a heads up if you see this idk if u will.

Yeah I remember it was bugged but the most recent update fixed it! Also Auric ore was spawning already, maybe it was bugged before I started playing about a month ago.

I finished a Calamity 1.4 playthrough yesterday. It was awesome and I was kinda thinking about an immediate replay. But now seeing Chippy play it its enough to satisfy my terraria/Calamity needs

looking at 2:50 in frame by frame, it doesnt look like a mod conflict, its just that the veinminer mod broke an enchanted sword shrine in a way not really intended by the game.

I suspect the squirrel staff is a sentry, which has it's stats affected by summon boosts, but needs it's own effect to change the amount.

Pretty sure the squirrel is considered a turret now, because it don’t seem to move anymore and it now has MASSIVE range. Could be wrong, but it acts like one, and I’m also assuming it’s not just broken lol
I tried out calamity for the first time yesterday, and it's a lot of fun so far! I've been playing Terraria practically since it was released, I just don't have tons of time on it, only 700 hours, but calamity makes everything feel so new, so fun, and it's so well made!

Man, I’d love chippy to play the infernum mode. All I could think about when he said “if you play calamity, you have to turn it to the hardest mode”

8:21 you can actually get those in classic modes by using some accessories, endgame, but still obtainable in classic mode (shattered community for example)
hope to see eternity mode continue after finish playing through cal 2.0, also should try out the catalyst cal addon like sometime after this too

Chippy, the Squirrel changed a while ago and now is a Sentry! Great video, I just finished my summoner run like 2 days ago
2:50 you excavated enchanted sword shrine that's why 6 swords dropped, they did come from shrine
Chippy the way you get energy cores is the wolfrum pylons summon and power up other wulfrums, which makes them drop cores
PS: squirrels are sentries now
I've just recently, this week, completed my terraria calamity mod for first time (I also got the full beastiary and boss checklist, AEW was a pain in the back)

You couldn't summon multiple Squirrels with the Squirrel Staff because it's a SENTRY staff, not a Minion staff. So you need Sentry slots to get more of them, like the Dungeon Defenders armor etc.
ive never seen calamity before outside of the bosses and their music, and your other gameplays of it were either outdated or as you said you didn’t put your heart into it, so thanks

chippy you genuinely had an enchanted sword in a stone in the water when you veinmined it at 2:50, i think the vein miner just multiplied the sword for some reason, atleast keep one :0
Hey Chippy, you did have that one real enchanted sword shrine, and it breaks with the ore underneath which you used Veinminer on. So it breaks instantly 6 times, yielding 6 swords. The same can be said for many things that break when there's no support, like Plantera, which I accidentally summoned 4 simultaneously.
Actually going to the lab planetoid on is REALLY good. It's easy to avoid the turrets and there are a bunch of planet boxes and seeds in there. So it gives you an instant headstart on farming herbs for potions.

I stopped playing terraria for 2 years (for a reason I won't specify) but it's good to be back, I got it back yesterday and since I love this game so much and love calamity, I'm already on Aquatic Scourge
2:50 I think there was probably a sword shrine there and veinminer somehow duped the enchanted swords, that means your world was really blessed, I would say you deserved to keep one of those swords as one of them was probably legit.

Hey James I think the reason those enchanted swords appeared is probably because there was an enchanted sword shrine on top of the lead, but it broke 6 times for whatever reason with vein miner

if anyone is wondering what is making chippy's music in different areas a bit remixed, its the terraria overhaul music pack. You can find it by going to the steam terraria workshop (not tmodloader workshop, terraria) and look that up. then click the subscribe button at that texture pack, wait for it to download and you can access it inside of tmodloader now.

U gotta play summoner this play through, most of the class has been reworked and u can use vanilla whips on top of that, and it has some of the most powerful and unique items
3:00 that is just a thing with Ore Excavator. It can duplicate items like that if youre excavating an ore its on. Same happens with Pots and other objects like that which break if the block underneath them is broken
What supposed me the most is that chippy didn't know about the middle click thing with recipe browser until now

Death master mode is a really challenging and cool mode and calamity even scales with the For the Worthy seed.
Also, to potential calamity users, Calamity has a custom world gen as it generates different biomes and structures. I'm not sure if the 2.0 version fixed it, but when I recently played it a few weeks ago, the Magic Storage mod interferes with the world gen, and causes a vanilla world to be created.
Disable all mods when you build the initial world, then go back in with all of your mods active. Make sure Calamity has all the room it needs to, to create the world it has to for the full experience.
The squirrel is a turret, turrets do minion damage but aren't considered minions having their own max amount of summons, (usually you use the army related armors or accessories to use more turrets)
Finally I can watch this RUclips wasn’t letting me until right now.
also there is that nice bug where you type something in magic storage, take an item out and cant put it back so you have to clear it out (the typed word/s)

You should use the Calamity addons and additions: Calamity music addons (Ennway music pack, and Unofficial calamity music) , infernum mode, Infernum music, catalyst, calamity vanities and calamity texture pack (it looks alot better than when you last used it, give it a try)

Calamity gives me a thing to do as i basically dont move from house. Playing games 24/7 yet never bored with terraria and especially calamity. So many options for so many playthroughts. Im trrying melee class for the first time and calamity melee is so much fun. I just love how calamity balances everything to make the game both fun and challenging. Also i see ore excavator? Good choice. A bit sad that veinminer did not make it to 1.4 yet.

Sounds like a fantastic subclass idea for melee in terraria/2, could be some sort of weapon like a glove that lets you throw anything in your inventory
Chippy if you do a full let's play in Calamity mod PLEASE use the Calamity Texture Pack, IT'S GORGEOUS.
Plus it's 1.4, so remember you can play mods with texture packs that you already have subscribed in Terraria's Workshop.
