I watched a 2 hour documentary on the war. The horrible things American soldiers saw where they couldnt intervene. Several dozen women and girls were being held in a building that were being raped by Serb soldiers. One was able to slip away and reached an American unit on patrol. When an interpretor was able to explain what was occuring the officer in charge broke orders and led his unit on running gun battle to the building and women. The discovered a mass grave of the men, boys and young children in a forest near by. Fortunatlly command didn't reprimand him or any of his men. Sarajevo had snipers all over that would pick off anyone out in the open.

My brother in law was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during this time. He said many American soldiers were eager to participate in the U.N. peacekeeping force. The unit he was in initially was an infantry unit, but since Clinton didn't want to have dedicated U.S. Infantry on the ground, he transferred to a water purification unit when he heard they were being prepared to go to Bosnia. Once his new unit got to Bosnia, he said he could not believe that the extremely severe fighting and mass genocide didn't trigger a full U.S. or NATO invasion of the region. He also said that Slobodan Milosovic and Radovan Karadzic were modern-day versions of Adolf Hitler, and many American soldiers were very pissed their hands were tied, and they couldn't do more to help the civilian population.

Also it wasn't Bosnian Serbs who started the war, they were attacked for refusing to live in the the newly created Bosnia under Muslim control. Since the Bosnian constitution required that all 3 nations had to agree regarding any decision including independence and it was done without their agreement they had every right to self-determination of all ethnic Serb areas. The Muslims didn't let them decide for themselves and attacked, that's how the war began

Before the conflict grew to grab international attention, I received a letter from a Christian who said that he had managed to escape a housing complex in which Bosnians had forced Christians to move into and promised that trucks would be sent to pick them up and take them out of the city. But they turned off the water and electrics and refused to send in food or water. When trucks arrived, people came out and the shooting started, killing scores of Christians. Nobody is innocent in what they did to people during that war, and news reports would show the same films of victims taken from different positions and claiming each new batch of the photos were a different Serb atrocity. It was one event with the same bodies. I guess they thought we were stupid when watching the videos which were in color. The Serbs stoped UN relief columns and found weapons and ammunition hidden in food barrels. At that point, the Serbs had dominated the conflict but them the Clintons started bombing the Serbs. One bombing was a royal screw up where US planes bombed a rail road bridge which had a train on it carrying refugees. It was one big cluster fuck where the world should have stayed the hell out of that war.

By watching this video I came to wonder how many videos of this creator I watched and unconditionally believed.
What's interesting about the siege of Sarajevo is that it wasn't a siege. Bosnia and Herzegovina was most ethnically diverse republic of Yugoslavia and Sarajevo municipality had significant number of Serbs. Only Belgrade, the capital of Serbia had more Serbs than Sarajevo. But the catch is in the composition. The city itself was populated mostly by muslims while all surrounding villages were populated by Serbs.
When the war started (after muslim representative was told by US ambassador to withdraw his signature from Lisbon agreement) Serbs armed themselves and protected their villages around Sarajevo. Their intention was never to take the city. Not a single offensive waa undertaken by Serbs to take the city.
Serbs had control of all the roads into the city but gave away Igman road so it could be supplied and gave away the airport to UN who brought in humanitarian aid almost daily. But Serbs had one condition - no transportation of weapons and ammo. That's why the tunnel was dug underneath. Muslims armed themselves and tried to overrun Serbian positions around the city. And whenever they tried, Serbs retaliated by shelling the city and thus committing a war crime
Since Serbs had far less manpower there was no other way to protect their own settlements than by using their advantage in artillery. And they were punished for that.
You often speak about genocide committed against muslims in Bosnia but bear in mind that before the war muslims constituted 47% of the population. Today they constitute 50%. During the war western media reported about 300.000 muslim civilians killed. After the war a muslim scholar Mirsad Tokača gathered all the data about the dead and published the book called "Bosnian book of dead" with names of all the people who died and the time and place of their death. All in all 96.000 people died with 27.000 of them being Serbs and around 60.000 muslims.
    Never trust western media.

Britain, France, Netherlands, Scanidinavian countries and Russia largely supported Serbs in early stage of war by implementing arms embargo on Croatia and Bosnia. Also, even NATO generals estimated that the airstrikes didn't have much impact on serbian military (often hitting dummy targets or empty warehouses). It was Cro-Bos joined offensives in the west that forced Serbs to negotiations. This narrative of overestimating their role as some kind of saviors is tipycal for westerners.

let me tell some facts right..... There were NO Macedonians in ex YUGOSLAV. Macedonians live in Greece. By Macedonians you refer to thecountry called North Macedonia (ex FYROM). The UN is supposed to be a Neutral force but it seems as it help one side over the other..... all war sides did war crimes but ONLY the Serbs were brought to justice....

Please elaborate..... As the brother in law of an American soldier who was on the ground as part of the peacekeeping force, and who kept our family informed of day to day American operations there, I'm curious as to what you think you "know"

@rogergoodman8665 I know only exactly what I know. I was a Combat cook who used to go in and set up hasty kitchen positions. It was a rather small team but we weren't the only team there. Other then that I can't say. The people that America was protecting were also involved in genocide. But that was taken care of. That's definitely not the only place I was as well as two years prior. I consider myself lucky to be qualified as a combat cook. But most Americans there had no clue what was really going on unless they were in to interviewing Combat Cooks. Only Army Intelligence did that mission. That's about all I can say about that. As far as I know it's still classified. Once I got out I became a Government Contractor and was part of a Executive Protection Detail for one of the Department Heads. But knowing all the things I know and traveling to places many people would like to see and find out what's really going on at these facilities? I got tired of having to tell lies. I ended up as a cop and now I'm retired but there are many things I still can't talk about. If you served then I'm sure you can figure out just about everything I said about my time in service. But as I said other then the people on the inside nobody knows what really went on. If your relative was in Intel then I'm sure he filled you in. My classified waver that I signed is still not up. Once I got out I had 50 years before I can talk about anything. My Department of ?#$%^&( was a 65 year waver. I've had a better life as a cop. I got tired of having to lie to my family and friend. But I guess it was worth what I got to see. The American Government is so incredibly far ahead of current technology

@@edgizinski5528 : My brother in law was not in an intelligence or special operations unit, he was 2nd in command of a water purification unit but where he was he saw some horrific sights as it sounds like you did also...and no, he said
still hasn't told me everything he saw or participated in while there even though its 30 years later, but I do know some things the government wishes I didn't. I believe your comment because if you started volunteering specific info on missions, just because I asked, It would be a dead giveaway you weren't a soldier. Some things should never be repeated. 🙈🙉🙊

No,they gave themselves permission to occupy that land,so Serbs won’t commit further atrocities.

It was merely a blockade, by the end of the war. The Serbs neither had the man power, nor the the will to die in thousands to capture the city. Serbs were outnumbered at least 3:1 in and around Sarajevo. Mladić was satisfied to keep tens of thousands of muslim troops tied to this ''siege'' and not to let them participate on other frontlines.
