I've got to add to this,I've had afib since aug 2019 and had two cardoiversions and now 2nd ablation has stopped afib,I've found being in ketosis reduces my afib dramatically,I've also lost nearly 10stone in those years,I'm now not addicted to the hyperprossed foods and find my energy levels increased, our doctors don't lie there just not educated in nutrition,it's time to educate not medicate ,thankyou Bret and the team
I guess it is me against the American College of Cardiology . I had five cardioversions (electric shock paddles) from 1998 ro 2009. In 2009 I started a keto diet for other reasons, bit with the hope that reduced inflammation would help my A Fib. Fast forward 15 years of true low carb and I have had ZERO A FIB the entire time. Of course my doctor had no reason to believe that my diet had any effect (I was eating a high carb Mediterranean style when I had AFib) The lasr six years have been carnivore and i train strenuous running and lifting with no ill effects in my late 60s. But medicine has no use for my N=1. Red meat, eggs and dairy fat saved my life, as it has for tens of thousands.
So I had an ablation done 9 months ago. It seemed to work pretty good afterwards, once I started carnivore diet 40 days ago I have been back in afib more then not….so why is that?
I imagine people who don't get electrolytes on keto may have issues with heart rhythm issues. Make sure to get electrolytes drops in your water and heart patients usually need low sodium electrolyte drops. As keto takes water off you.
I was diagnosed with AFib about 10 years ago and surgery to stabilise along with beta blocker and blood thinners. My surgeon advised high carb diet / alcohol was main cause. Since going carnivore about 6 months ago. I have not had one episode of AFib. 🙏
I developed paroxysmal Afib long ago when I was eating an almost obsessively "healthy" vegetarian + pescatarian Mediterranean-style low fat high carb diet. I have no idea if that diet caused my Afib. For years I have been on long term meds. and have had no Afib events. More recently, I have been eating very low carb / keto since late 2017 but continue to have no Afib events and continue to take the meds. Maybe I don't need them, but I have been warned I risk going in to permanent Afib if I stop. I wish we had known in the past what we are learning now.
Why are so many ''reputable'' organizations publishing or endorsing studies without someone having a close look at the study design and interpretation? Who actually signs off on that? It is so frustrating.
HERE IS ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE: I have mitral valve prolapse, not a big deal. Been having benign PVC's for decades, not a big deal. THEN, I heard about the keto diet and I mean really learned a lot from 50 hours of study or more. kept my electrolytes up ate properly etc.. Have tried it 6 times over the course of 2 years and felt the physical and mental benefits BUT, my PVC's always worsen a lot and are even more uncomfortable. So bad that I must go back to normal eating patterns. It usually takes about 2 weeks for the PVC's to increase and then a month to revert back to normal after stopping. PS I have tried everything for this to stop happening but no one knows why or how to fix. More salt, less salt, more water, this electrolyte mix and that one. NADA! Thoughts?
From my understanding the easiest way to stay under 20g carbs daily is mostly carnivore with low carb cruciferous vegetables ? I’ve been eating 3-4 avocados and lots of nuts daily
Above-ground veggies are very low in net carbs, so they make an excellent carb source for ketogenic diets. Here's a guide with more detailed information www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/foods
As a Cardiologist, Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Metabolic Health Practitioner. You are correct. I have found a fib is suppressed by ketosis

Medicine seems to oftentimes misunderstand the keto diet .Congradulations on recognising this .
This is so true,I hope I'm in that space in 10 years 👍😁

@@Westgrainwoodworks So A-fib is increased? How often was it before and after ablation?

I love your videos.
I believe in what you folks speak about. I am on keto and haven't had any afib problems for a few years.
Thank you for the reliable information

They are absolutely wrong. Keto and carnivore keeps my rhythm stable.

For them, it's a feature, not a bug.

Histamine; lectins; gut health can all effect heart rhythm...it sure did mine.
I have experienced increased Afib while on a ketogenic diet. There are some risk factors.
Had Afib when i was not tracking my salt intake while on Keto
2:49 , 2:55 are they saying "Carbage" lol thats a new one I'll have to use :D
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just avoid ever being 'Cabbaged', Coronary Artery Bypass Graft 😳

More convincing study is the research on mice! I suggest to do one video.
But can a ketotic diet help reverse Afib?
Ketogenic therapy can help or even resolve hypertension, diabetes, and sleep apnea - all of which are contributing factors for atrial fibrillation.
