Level 3 Hype!! 😆 Definitely a good locals tip. I get put off SO easily for waits like that I wouldn't have even tried after seeing 2H wait time. But good to know that it only ended up being 30m so could be worth it. I'd do it once to experience the view but the smaller cafes have so much character I'd want to hit multiple ones of those. I love the way sakura becomes a collective spiritual event for everyone as a sign of renewal. Are there people who actually chase sakura as they bloom from one part of the country to the other? Good job spotting the Shiba!! 🌸🐕 I have a photographer friend who travels across all of Japan to take photos in all the sakura spots, so she's busy from February ~ April chasing them! I feel like there are way more sakura trees planted across Japan compared to the Ume, so might be related to that, and then could be about the appearance of the sakura too! Ume are definitely popular with Japanese locals, they will go to shrines/parks in Jan/Feb to enjoy them.
