I would seriously suggest doing some charity work, Avrey. I’m not putting you down or anything, but I see how easy it can be to get in your own head about things such as your apartment not being decorated. I think it’s super important to see the outside world and put things into perspective. I find when I put things into perspective that it can make me realise I’m doing fine, moving at my own pace and accomplishing things. Right now you might compare yourself to others, but the same happens to you, people look at your content and think how they’ll never be able to own a nice apartment, or are struggling to afford groceries. Now I’m not saying you can’t feel bad or should minimise your feelings, not at all. I’m merely saying that it would definitely help you to help others, or see how the real world lives day to day. Rather than comparing yourself to other influencers and people around you. Your issues run much deeper than undecorated apartments. Show grace towards yourself. You’re doing amazingly compared to most of the world. Best of wishes.
I think you should absolutely continue to pursue modeling if that is what you want to do. I also would recommend pursuing some other hobbies (or volunteering, like another commenter said) in other fields that are unrelated to modeling and influencing. Like taking some artistic or humanities classes at a community college or doing/creating something that can't necessarily be monetized online. Hobbies are really important in developing a relationship with yourself and they allow you to meet new people/build community. You are so young and your dreams are gonna evolve over the course of your 20s and into your 30s so I hope you take as much time as you can to explore. The emotions you're dealing with right now are super super normal and as an almost 27 year old I can say everything starts to click a lot more once you hit your mid 20s (fully developed brain vibes lol). You've got this!
Volunteering at your local library to teach kids how to crochet sounds super fun and doesn't require too much commitment! or even video editing! You're still doing something creative but also getting to know your community and find meaning again
It's wild hearing this perspective, and makes me realize we all have our own struggles and to not compare yourself to others. Because while I'm so embarrassed and ashamed I still live at home and dream about getting my own place one day, someone else is embarrassed and ashamed that their apartment isn't decorated the way they desire it to be. We're all in our own heads and comparing ourselves to others for no reason. :(
You are in the most superficial area you could possibly be in so your feelings are totally valid. It's hard to find anything or anyone of depth and substance out there-also your chosen profession is superficial and all about looks, even if "artistic" it can be difficult to feel grounded and happy with oneself when all that is valued is how things look.
my biggest tip that i rarely hear is practicing grace and forgiveness with yourself, forgive yourself for not keeping up sometimes, or for giving in.. give yourself grace for trying and for even setting intentions into anything.. i hope you always remember to take it easy and that everything is okay.. hope all of your dreams come into light
Hearing you talk about the things you enjoy about modeling (creating moodboards and coming up with creative themes/ideas), I wonder if you would consider a career in art direction. You already appear to have a lot of the necessary skills based on your channel content. I started as a painter and am now working as a designer + on the art director track and design/art direction illuminated a different-but-adjacent path and has been indescribably fulfilling for me. Wishing you luck and peace 💜
I was JUST having the same thoughts about my own apartment and wanted to watch your video as a distraction from it. It is really reassuring hearing I am not the only one who feels this way, ESPECIALLY about not wanting people to come over bc your apartment isn't in a place you want it to be. I just remind myself, it is better to take the time to find what I like instead of wasting money just so I have stuff! Thank you for sharing!!
girl please just remember when you're having these struggles that a majority of people right now are struggling just to even pay rent, you're valid but putting things into perspective helps
right that’s why i can’t even bother watching these youtubers anymore it’s just not the same, the rest of us out here are struggling, not everyone has family money to fall back on, it’s impossible to move out on ur own for most ppl, etc. it’s just pretty depressing
My hot take is that sometimes “putting things into perspective” creates more guilt because it makes someone feel like they’re less valid and then it’s harder to share and get help/support
saying she can’t be sad about the things going on in her life because other people have it worse is like saying she can’t be happy because someone else has it better. it is not comparable. everyone has a mountain they are climbing.
This is her RUclips channel, the whole point of it is that her videos will revolve around her life and interests. If you don’t like it then don’t watch? The expectation that every single individual needs to acknowledge their privilege while talking about their struggles is ridiculous and puritanical
I think you are out of touch with what most people are dealing with and have created some “problems” where there aren’t any. Maybe you’re bored and need to try working at something else, a part time job or volunteer work. See what real day to day struggling is like and then your “problems” won’t seem so bad
I recommend trying to be as little on social media as possible, it seems like a lot of what you’re feeling comes from being online a lot and living in LA. And therapy can help a lot!
So happy you're back and thank you for being vulnerable with us! I can relate so much even though my life looks completely different from yours but the emotions and struggles are the same I hope 2024 will be good to us🥹 Here's to new beginnings✨️
I would suggest maybe working with a interior designer, there are loads of cool up and coming ones that are unique. I think maybe it would be really helpful and alleviate the pressure that you are putting on yourself. LA has tonssssss have great creative people so im sure there are amazing interior designer/ prop styling people. For me if my space is chaotic, I feel chaotic. If my place is messy, I have so much anxiety in my head and its overwhelming. So working with someone to solve that problem might help a lot of your "shame"
I highly suggest looking for apartment decor/furniture in places that are meaningful to you rather than strictly valued by others. I have thrifted a lot of my decor from thrift stores around where my parents live in Virginia and where my grandma lives in Arizona… thinking about the trip to my grandma’s that brought me the items or the places in my hometown where I found something special really take away from the pressure I put on myself for perfection and help me focus on the story and background, and make me feel like I’m surrounded by history and stories that make up ME and not what the internet tells me my life should look like. it’s also ok to trial and error with stuff as simple as stuff. you might end up with decor you hated and that’s ok! you’re really amazing at telling stories through your content (videos, pictures, etc.), and maybe envisioning what you want through the lens you present your life to us through can help inspire you. there’s nothing wrong with chasing your dreams at your own pace, and sometimes you have to take a couple losses to cherish a win. hope 2024 is everything you need it to be, and don’t forget to not be too hard on yourself 🩵
Baby girl you’re doing better than you know. You’re so, so young. I haven’t finished the video yet, but listening to you speak is like listening to a voice memo of my own mind… but in my 30s. The simple fact that you’re having these experiences/realizations, growing your self-awareness, and taking action (regardless of how subtle or intense) while you’re still so young, is actually putting you ahead of the game. Us elder millennials are all coming into the very late realization that we were forced to grow up- granted, in a very different way- too fast. And now so many of us are kind of spiraling with gen z catapulting our spent youth back into the forefront of pop culture. 😅 Existential crisis level 900, unlocked ✅😂🥲🙃 Anywayyyy. Happy new year, girl! You really are doing great, sweetie 😂😂 jk jk For real though, you’ve got this. Cheers to 2024 and another year of lived experiences! ✨
I think you’re falling into things that matter to you and those may be different then what everyone on the internet that you see all day everyday. That’s what growing up looks like!!! You’re doing amazing 🩵
Hi miss Avrey! Just wanted to pop in and say hi and I’m rooting for you! If la isn’t treating you well, I hope somewhere else treats you better!! Living in la can feel so isolating sometimes and it’s soooo hard to not compare ourselves to others but you are exactly where you need to be right now! Everything will come when it’s time, and I’m proud of you.
Honestly you don’t seem happy in LA. I always thought you were more of a New York kinda girl. You just seem so creative and like you would flourish being surrounded by everything NY would have to offer.
How about no? Us native New Yorkers are already struggling to afford living here because of gentrifiers and implants overtaking our city. She should honestly move back to Utah and heal with the support of her family. Please stop telling everyone struggling in LA that New York is the move, it's a cliche and exhausting narrative.
Not to mention, She is for sure not a "New York kinda girl". She struggles with identity issues all the time, New York is not the place and frankly, we don't want to home any more yt influencers
@@pandoramendez8391it’s really funny that you’re trying to gatekeep an entire state. If you were talking about Hawaii that’s a whole different story. But New York?? Girl… 😂
If it can help with your decorating journey, I find going one room at a time is really helpful and starting with like the bathroom because it's small so it's easy to finish quickly and satisfying when it's done.
Thank you for being honest, open, and vulnerable. 2023 was half good and half bad for me, I get it, in my own way. You are not alone. Love you Avrey. ❤❤❤
I’ve followed you since the beginning of your RUclips from seeing you on your sisters page. We have the same birthday and you literally think the same as me it’s so insane, miss your content ❤️❤️
SAME LOVE, i hope one day i can walk in NYFW too! i thought i was the only one, i need to get digitals soon but i hope that one day we both get to fulfill this dream ✨
The fact that you’re complaining about having to decorate… it’s not like you can’t afford it. So many people your age and even older, can’t even afford rent rn. LA is not the standard. Visit anywhere else that isn’t occupied by influencers and maybe you’ll feel better about yourself once you see how good you have it. Sounds bitter but it’s reality
I really think you need to visit a 3rd world country to change your perspective on life, bc everything you describe in this video is so 1st world problems. Also, if you’re having issues on how you look, I don’t suggest modeling. The modeling world will put all your insecurities on blast. So if you’re not comfortable now, modeling will only add to body insecurity issues.
Hi, Avery! Happy Sunday and...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!😊😊😊😊😊😎☀💙💙💙💙💙💙🍾🎉🎇🌷💖💖💖💖💖💖🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇👍. The word "Vulnerable" is so tough and hard to be strong and never look back. As for me, it's simple. For example, my best friend from high school in 2006 says, "If there's something going on like going to the prom or an fashion event, just stand up, look fabulous and face the music."😊💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙👍

As you get older, the comparisons diminish. Eventually you reach a point of peace.

that is not ash blonde that is brunette loool
I had dyed my hair that colour and my hair dresser said it does fall under dirty blonde although it doesn’t look like it
Agreed 😂 this is dark brunette lol
no no i think she was referring to her real original hair. she's naturally a dirty blonde
Yep, that shit is brunette as hell. If you try to defend it otherwise, youre delusional.
