The 2011 Thundercats series was the best iteration of the the thundercats, it had so much potential especially with the world building. It needs to be brought back.

How long did it take for everyone to realize that when the ThunderCat signal was used that it was really a giant red laser pointer to attract a bunch of cats...LOL
Overseas a buddy of mine bought 3 well known sword replicas. The Sword of Power from He-Man, Excalibur from King Aurhur and The Sword of Omens with the Eye of Thundera.👍🏾
I'm white but I also always perceived Panthro as a black man, and thought it was cool that he was so obviously a black man and yet had none of the stock stereotypes. I mean, he's part strongman, part ninja, and part scientist / engineer --how do you even come up with a combination like that, let alone make it work so incredibly well? I can't think of another character like him, and and I don't think I've ever heard of anyone who didn't think he was completely awesome.
I always just perceived panthro as an anthropomorphic panther. You associate Panthro with a black man, probably because of the psycho suggestion of 1) Panthers being primarily black, and 2) the association of the Black Panthers. But everyone always tries to bring race into anthropomorphic animals, when it's NOT NECESSARY. it doesn't matter what color the cats would be if they were human. They're cats. The only time it would matter is if there was an episode where the cat DNA was somehow untangled from their DNA, which would turn them into jello, not human. Anyway, not digging on you, its just a peeve on mine for people to try to bring race into a place where race doesn't matter. I read a review once that claimed the original show was racist because Panthro was "obviously the only 'N word' in the show." That absolutely killed me, to read. They're CATS
I was about 14 when I was watching Thundercats, and I always kinda thought Panthro was sposed to be Black also. I sort of assumed it was a way to make the show more appealing to a wider audience. Fun fact; panthers are actually just leopards or jaguars that have dark fur, if the sun hits them right, you can still see the spots.
@@user-mp5lm5sy6x so... The voice actor was a black man. Goliath from Gargoyles was also voiced by a black man... But he was STILL a gargoyle. Kratos was voiced by 2 black men. He's a SPARTAN. And Panthro is a damn CAT. Not a black man. The race of Panthro is CAT. Why insert racism in a place where it doesn't belong?
Panthro was always my favorite Thundercat in all its iterations, and this is no different. The 2011 series gave a little more meat to all the Thundercats, so hopefully, Declan watched both the animated series in order to use the best elements of each show.
as a white dude i always thought of Panthro as black myself. he was my favorite make character in the series. wise teacher with a bit of years on him. great character and a character type that is usually a favorite of mine. i am still waiting for a live action Tcats movie.
Loved the video, subbed. Agreed on Declan's character writing! He's clearly laying groundwork for these characters to be fleshed out in their personalities and ideologies. One thing I'd love to see is how awkward Lion-O's interaction is now with the twins, with whom he undoubtedly roughhoused. Hopefully we see some of them figuring out how to relate to each other now. Also agree about the ties Mumm-Ra appears to now have with Thundera and the Sword of Omens, currently shattered. What's interesting to me is, he's aware of it (presumably more accurately aware of the Eye of Thundera) until then, so it is the Eye being 'awake' that he can sense, which makes sense. Lastly, I agree with you on appreciating Moss' choices in his Panthro design, it was great to see him move the character back in that direction after the whitewashing of 2011 Panthro, who was basically a character lift of Jet from Cowboy Bebop (among other crits I have). But I want to push back on the idea of Panthro being lowkey fake representation since representation is (1) not monolithic and (2) representation in fantastical characters is as important as grounded characters. Him being recognizably Black-coded is sufficient to have an impact and that's a great thing. I think fake representation is more like the caricatures that Michael Bay employed with Skids and Mudflap.
I always thought that Lion-O being someone with a stolen childhood (and effectively a child soldier in a grown body because of it) was potentially the most interesting part of his character. I really didn't like how the 2011 reboot just ignored that entire idea by turning him into a teenager instead.
i hope this becomes popular and goes far like the power ranger comics, imagine a new show based off this comic comes out in the future, that feel and look of the og cartoon but not just for selling toys but has an actual plot so to say
I always thought Lion-O was a BIGGER Child simply because he is a bigger TYPE of Cat: A Lion! vs Whiley Kit and Kat who are probably based on House Cats, Panthro on a Panther, Tigra on a TIger etc...technically though Tigra should have be the biggest then.
THUNDER!THUNDER!THUNDER CATS HO!!! wonderful childhood glad we getting thunder cats again😏😏 yea Panthro is one us a brother you ain't changing my mind lol

Is it because he is a panther and they tend to be black? Or is this just the vibe he gives off? Like he would be a black guy if he wasn’t a cat person? Last question also who cares if he is black?
I remember watching the OG Thundercats on TV (and if you missed an episode you better hope there's a rerun in the future!) and it _always_ bothered me that the writers forgot that Lion-O was a kid in an adult's body and I used to cringe anytime they had even a hint of flirtation with any of the adult women.

The pod couldn't stop his aging up because the eye of Thundera was causing Lion-O to grow more powerful to what the Lord of the Thundercats would need to be. It just made sense.
