  • This video is about Lazy Daisy and Fern Stitch from my Hand Embroidery: Learn With Me video series.
As I am still learning, these stitch tutorials may not be perfect, but I think they're pretty good after practicing. The Lazy Daisy Stitch resembles the chain stitch we did in a previous video tutorial, so it should give you a foundation for this stitch.
I'm really loving the Fern Stitch! Very versatile and fun to embroider. I highly recommend giving it a try!

I have a couple of questions. You are using white fabric and colored (red, in this case) thread. When you go from one flower to another, what do you do to keep the colored thread from showing through? Also, do you do a regular knot in the thread on the back of the fabric when you are first starting to embroider?

If the white fabric is thick enough it won't show through, and I use an away knot. There is a video in our playlist that shows how to do the Away Knot. It's basically a knot on the front side placed away from your start point. When finished with that portion of embroidery, weave your thread in the stitches on back side, cut thread. Then cut the off the away knot on the front.

Could you please do a video on how to do lilacs?

+Evangeline Wolfe I may need to try that sometime. I have seen them embroidered with french know clusters, tiny lazy daisy clusters, and x stitches. You could try to experiment with some of those stitches. See our videos on the mentioned stitches. :)

Hi, I liked your video, but it would have helped me if I could have heard you better. I think in my old age, I am getting a little hard of hearing. I would like to stitch with you every day and am looking forward to more videos. Thanks so much. K B
