You could upgrade the last one with a trigger mechanism like from the most recent plane

I was actually thinking about it when building it, but I prefer this as it's much simpler, easily reversible and smaller.
This system would be preferred in bigger tabletop fans as you can transfer more torque from your hand to the gears.
