- Having fitted a timer circuit and diodes to Don Sibley's layout, I ran a few tests.
The end sections are all fitted with diodes to prevent overrunning. The timer circuit is energised by push button (actually I touch two wires together!), then reverses the polarity of the track/overhead feed. The tram goes on its way and stops at the end of the run. After an interval, the polarity reverses again when the relay loses power, and the tram returns to its starting position.
There are two routes: one is a narrow gauge line, the other a standard gauge line. The track on part of the route is mixed (3-rail). Naturally they can only run separately.
