I worked at a smokes and j reccomend working there to anyone in their late teens and early 20s. Easy to learn all the ins and outs of the menu and prep.
My brother went into his late 20s early 30s without ever trying a poutine! And we're Canadian! He had an adversion to most foods. Luckily hes more open to trying things nowadays but his 1st poutine was Smoke's Poutinerie triple pork. Needless to say he loved it but its 3x pork so what could go wrong(heart attack maybe) but that opened the door for him to try the og and he was hooked. But def gotta have the curds with it...shredded in a pinch.
Please I'm not hating on you or your videos you do you man we all started somewhere but please until you're ready and earned the title stop the chef talk line cook lead line kitchen manager would all he fine my man much respect for putting your stuff out there but it took me 8 years of grinding before I got my chef jacket
Been to Smokes a number of times and never had a good experience with them. Either the fries are under cooked, overcooked, way too much salt, gravy is off. As a poutine place I wanted to like them and tried different locations but the inconsistency just turns me away.
$18.39 is £10.80 😱😡. That's very, very expensive my friend. You'd get 2x large chips, cheese and gravy in a UK chip shop gor that plus some change. You'd even get a large battered cod and large chips for way less than that.
All these Poutine videos making me want to try it. I might have a go a just making it at home as they don’t really sell poutine where I live. I would love to see how you would make poutine from scratch at home!

I had a debat in the kitchen on what a poutin is. Is there another dish called poutin rape' made with mashed potates with meat centre? She claims its a east coast thing. You ever hear of it?
Ontario is the only province in Canada that doesn’t suck take it easy bud. Haha I mean I did love to Texas where everything is cheaper than Canada but if I had to come back to Canada, Ontario would be the only place ngl. BC is pretty rad too but even more expensive than Ontario.
I think another place got a 7/10 in another video with a couple things wrong and this place got a 7/10 with a couple things wrong. Still shocked Ed’s Subs got a 6/10 and has looked the best to me so far BUT I’m not Canadian so I don’t have the experience with poutine 😂
I’m assuming you’re American? I’m originally from Toronto but I live in Austin. (For context) $18 CAD is around $13 USD so not overly insane on the price considering how big that poutine is.
This guy desperately needs that chef moniker removed. Please RUclips repair this issue. Cheese at the bottom is t melted as if that’s an indication it’s not prepared properly? Dude you should happy you have cheese down that far. Most joints sprinkle cheese on top then gravy and the entire body the poutine is just dry fries because the melted cheese creates a blanket over the fries for the gravy to lay on. Real curds allow the true gravy penetration to the bottom. And if you think I’m going overboard here….put some shorts on with pockets…a shirt on with pockets…some mid cut boots and TAKE A HIKE!!
Love that this started as a way to prove the golf course poutine was reasonably priced

jk love this series of poutine testing haha! haven't tried one myself every but this is making me want to so bad!!
Come to Montreal I’ll take you out for one
@@happeeguilmore3214 i'd take you up on that offer if i want from Luxembourg, Europe😆🤝

Smokes poutine is my favourite poutine/food ever, it tastes so good, I personally like my poutine with pulled pork
Chef Thomson please call this series a Poutine Routine 😅

“The food to dollar ratio is incredible” it’s really not though..
I got my butt out the sun roof. I’m trying to take a poop.
Pogo’s = Corn dogs for your American fans😊
Thanks I was actually curious about that
Poutine is one of the foods I miss the most from Canada followed by a good smoked meat sandwich

Just bought 2 larges poutine (Quebec) for 43 + tax (total of 14.8%) dish of 9 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick
If you ever come to Victoria go to Jones barbecue and get a poutine there. Sending love from the west coast ❤️

@@Alfie-ou1xb ummm... That's exactly what I'm saying in my post 🤷🏼♂️🤨
personally prefer grated marble cheese on my poutine, but anyway. that REALLY IS a lot of food
Do the cheese squick like here ? Im in Sherbrooke Qc and the cheese is perfect here but some places i know it not like this
Older curds will melt more than the fresher ones. I don't like melty curds
Cheese curds are aged anyway! That's how they make cheese
@@realchefthomson not all cheese ; mozzarella, burrata, ricotta and curds should be and are better fresh

It’s just fries, bits of cheese and gravy it’s extremely easy to make and irs much cheaper
I'm waiting for your opinion about Costco Poutine
I would note that a regular is huge; I eat it in 2 sittings. And the 'large' size is called a WOW size.
Smokes is for people that say crap like "I've never really had a poutine, id like to try one"
Come to Edmundston they just opened a new poutine bar!!
Love ur vids (stopping people from saying:FIRST)

The poutine master
I want some poutine in the USA, where is a good spot?
3 pogos for 5.99. Fair enough. You should have shown those. 15.99 for the poutine is and outrageous robbery. At best 9.99.
Damn bro. I can’t even finish a normal smokes poutine!
Dont you get sick of the meal?
Smokes is top notch
Rip Ryan Smolkin
The founder of smoke's poutine died. Im traumatized
I love how the dumb comments have you going and trying other places out of spite
i forgot corndogs are pogos in canada
WAIT A SECOND theres a restaurant made around poutine?!
And i thought vancouver was a nice city

Its very close to the same price here in Onterrible. 20$ for a f-ing poutine 🤦♂️

Now poutine is made with cheese curds no?
Did you say day 9 of trying Putin?
Smokes Is probably the worst poutine I have ever had in my .. that is in my western (Saskatchewan) Canadian opinion
That's considered a lot of food for nearly $20?

Yessir the more you know! He’s in the Maritimes which is basically Canadian New England.
Have you ever had A&W? My local one makes them amazingly well, ripping hot with nice melted cheese curds and loads of tasty gravy.
imo real cheese curds shouldn’t melt…
What are pogos?
Corn Dogs

I have a good poutine for you to try in Portland Oregon!
Dude, please, it’s “Poo-teene”!!! Not “Poo-tin". You live in NB!! You’ve got that french in you! Know better!!
What is poutine
Have you met the trailer park boys?
I wish we had Putin in Texas
That looks disgusting at any price.
One item for $18 is not a great “ratio”. Especially for some French fries, cheese, and 10 cent gravy.
Thats pretty good in that area of canada.
Rookie score
It's pretty obvious your just using this restaurant to justify your ridiculous prices
french fryie
Calm down on the poutine for a bit man. You’re going to end up in a grave before your next shift at the club
Finally a poutine that looks good from NB, but in montreal that is the normal size and will run you about 8$ lol
True! I'm in MTL now and a large 15$+ poutine would be bigger than this one
This looks like a 3... raw cheese (AKA not melted,) raw fries, nothing crispy, just looks soggy...
Personally I think poutine is overrated
Those squeaky curds mmmm
Please pin me ❤
