The problem with these combined 11s is that they never decide whether its current form or in general (last couple seasons)

I think I'm making a team based more on this season and James is more on the past few years. The brief was kind of a mixture of both as it was "make a team to win the league this season" so plenty of room for interpretation. I'm a big Trent fan, hope he gets back to his best soon and plays for England at the WC!

Ben white playing right back is just bog standard you can switch him out for anyone. Trent provides something different and if you were worried about defensive ability well you’re creating the team, center backs and defensive mids are there for that reason

They should do these combined 11s with only the current season in mind. There is an old saying in football, "You're only as good as your last game" It makes it more fluid and realistic to just put in current form players.
There is also a saying that form is temporary, class in permanent. Liverpool have had a bad start this season but we were Very close to winning everything last season. That shouldn't be just forgotten about after a bad month.

@@niv3341 not Xhaka for Thiago. Xhaka's playing really well and if Arteta keeps playing him this far forward I believe he will have a full resurgence but he still doesn't have Thiago's quality. Thiago's one of the best midfielders in the league. Not counting DMs the only ones that are arguably better than him are De Bruyne, Bernado Silva and Kovacic.

Partey doesn’t get enough credit to some major sport football journalists, especially those who don’t understand fundamentals of the game, if you look at Arsenal’s success in most of the games, it’s the presence of him been there in that midfield, so I don’t see the reason why he is not included in that midfield, Fabio over him is a criminal offence.

Right, if Liverpool have defensive problems, you would look at who is directly in front of them. If Man United defence is looking shakey it's because of the midfield in front them. SO Liverpool being bad defensively has to come with some blame for Fabinho. Arsenal on the other hand, with Partey (the octopus) in front them are amazing. When he doesn't play, you see the difference.

Spencer's midfield pick is OUTRAGEOUS. Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard. Conversation over. One of the main reasons Xhaka has been good this season is because he's got licence to play higher up the pitch with Partey behind. Criminal he wasn't even mentioned.

Martinelli over Diaz is a shocking take. Diaz has been our best player this season, not to say Martinelli hasn't been quality, but he isn't carrying the team on his back in the same way. Not sure what Spencer's been watching.

Diaz only looks good cos the rest of the team is playing so badly and Martinelli doesn’t need to carry the team. He is so good for 90 every single game and even if he’s not getting an assist or on the scoresheet he adds so much defensively. They also have the same goals and assists so far. Not a shocking take at all tbh.
That's nonsense. Diaz doesn't look good because we've been bad, he's just been the only player who hasn't lost his form this season. You mention goals and assists, but you fail to mention how many of those were significant in getting you points. With other players like Jesus, Saka and Odegaard, not only are Martinelli's contributions less significant, but he also has the quality around him to make easy chances. Diaz has had to make his own goals and assists, not to mention his amazing defensive contribution. Like I said before, nothing against Martinelli, but if you go off of anything other than stats (which they are equal on regardless) Diaz is superior.

Never said Diaz didn't have quality around him, but you just said yourself that they aren't performing. Therefore you prove my point that Diaz's contributions are far more significant, when he is not getting the quality service we've come to expect from the reds, due to our poor form.
Diaz has carried Liverpools attack this season for anyone who’s actually watched. His all round game is more rounded than Martinelli in how he stretches teams and opens up the pitch.

No he wouldn't. Half his problems are sleeping in the box. Not marking his man like literally letting Antonio score. Or just ball watching like Napoli. This whole thing about him having to bomb up the pitch is ridiculous. He gets caught napping in his own half and that's why he gets criticised. If one of the midfielders has failed to cover for him and the opposition have countered that's nor Trent's fault but that's not what he's getting criticised form
