Agreed, whenever England needed an important goal, more often than not he got it for us. My favourite England striker of them all, it really mattered to him every time he pulled on that shirt.
Till this day, I still can’t believe that Leicester won the premier league. It was by far the best achievement I’ve seen in football. 5000-1, unbelievable
@@footballzb-zacbookbinder5908 That was one moment for a side who should have already had the title win Leicester city came from next to nothing, climbed a mountain and won the title with room to spare
That Everton team of 1985-7 is probably the most underrated team of the last 50 years. Alan Hansen was asked a few years ago if Liverpool 1986 was the best double winner in history. His reply, which caused a bit of controversy was "without a doubt, because none of the others had to beat the best team in the world to win it."
One o my all-time heroes as a Striker and Sports Personality, not to mention the fact that he's never been booked or sent off in his professional career, even though I'm Scottish.
Ismail Warsame, seedorf!! Yes! I didn’t think of him, it he would have so many amazing stories as he played with so many amazing clubs and players. People don’t realise how much of a legend he is. One of the few (maybe the only?) player to win Champs league with 3 different clubs.
Hated that 'bib' Everton shirt back then. Best striker I've seen. Surely the best goal I ever saw for me, I was in the Enclosure at Goodison, the quarter final replay against Luton. Highlighs on the BBC with Tony Gubba commentating. "Just look at his pace!". "He was a yard and a half behind the defender, and when he got the ball he was half a yard ahead of him". "His 33rd goal of the season". "The best marksman in Britain". Great period.
Gary linekar I am just saying is very underrated cos no one really talks about him cos he was better than Marradona in that word cup I. That hand of god thing but people only talk about Diego cos of that hand
Finally, with a great former player again. No idea why they do this with current players, especially young ones. Much better with former players that actually have stories to tell and experienced a bunch with beautiful classic shirts. I really don't care what a 22 year old player wore 2 seasons ago when he first debuted.
His comments regarding Everton were no suprise to me as he's stated loads of times since he retired that was the best side he played in. We could easily have won the double in 1986 but things went against us towards the end of that season plus Liverpool's brilliant form we ended up missing out on both trophies.
Gary should have kept a better eye on his bloody boots before the Oxford game then and we would have won the double! Couldn't hit a barn door that day and that was the match that allowed Liverpool in...
11:40 I watched it full too, highly recommended viewing for younger England fans. The flukey goal that they scored that deflected of Parker and looped over the then 40 year old Shilton, we should have won it but lady luck wasn't with us. Waddle, Beardsley, Gazza, what a side that was.
finally with someone who's played more than 10 games
What i wore is so much better with retired players
Chewy Suarez init it’s stupid when they do it with people like sessegnon when he’s only 18
Hell yes! Doing Sessegnon & Dele was bloody silly.
Before this gets lost in the comments I wanna say that I upload insane motivational football videos and would really appreciate any support.
Totally agre. That delle ali its sooooo bad.
Do it with Stevie G
Luckily they didn’t include shorts...
Yeh otherwise I'd be hard as a rock
Mad Ting Erm I’m not gonna ask
Lmao. I wonder what happened to those shorts. They were probably burned.

Scored 40 goals for Everton, won the Golden Boot at the world cup then signed for Barca, all in the same year. What a boss.

And helps save LCFC.

The goal at anfield against the reds 💙💙

Played for Barca and still says everton were the best club he played for. That everton team was so good it's mad.
Him and Kendall leaving screwed everton up so badly
They were the best team in europe in 85 to be fair

The two best episodes so far have been Zola and Lineker... I wonder why?!
An inspiration to a generation. He was so good he didn't need to cheat, dive or break the rules.
Lineker always comes across as a decent guy bit of class.
Great interviewer. Let's the players talk
Now this is a proper what I wore
Dimitar Berbatov would be a good one
I would love ginola
Down to earth man. Legend of the game
Gary is such a storyteller
Love Lineker, charismatic and intelligent.
He is a tool and an overpaid one at that.
He is so humble for such a quality fantastic player ...

Best striker England has ever had hand's down !
Interesting him saying Everton was the best team he played in when he played for Barcelona. Goes to show what a good team Everton had back in the day.
Or the bitterness he has towards Barcelona

The 70's 80's and 90's had so many legendary teams and players all over Europe and in South America too. So much competition.
John Shaw, i didn’t think he had bitterness towards Barca. Because he still regularly compliments them and Messi in Twitter
Everyone new at the time that from 1985 to 87 Everton were easily the best team in Europe - amazing team.
ZLATAN, what an episode that would be.
Ashur of Meso check out his Netflix documentary. Top stuff
Firstly, the amount of different shirts will storm the store up
It wouldnt be much considering he was constantly taking it all off.

Gary Lineker is Mr MATCH OF THE DAY.... cannot be beaten.....

loved watching england play with lineker platt and waddle. great football , good memorys.
Easily the most underrated player in his day. It's amazing to see him get the respect he deserved then, today.
Gary Linekar has never had a problem with nerves because he has always had integrity.
Love this. As an Everton fan, I’m delighted with what he said. Great memories.
I will never forget that night in Turin..so close!!
A great player and really underrated!
Good episode. I appreciate it's not easy getting older players with stories, but the interest from the younger lads to the veterans is miles apart.
Gary lineker has to be one of the nicest most genuine people on earth
Remember when they did Sessegnon? A bloody joke of a player who has achieved nothing. Keep it to the legends guys.
