  • This is a common upgrade for early AP1 s2000's, for more oil flow to the oil jets. However a problem with the AP2 banjo bolts can contribute to low oil pressure at idle. In this video I replace the factory banjo bolts in my AP2 s2000 with new OEM bolts.

    I think I'm right in saying that the early (1999 and 2000) AP1 Oil squirter banjo bolts also only had 2 holes rather than 4, which lead to oil starvation sometimes. But the spring within can definitely also cause issues like you found.
    Nice video, I plan on changing the rod bearings on mine soon as it's quite high Mileage, so it's good to see how it looks in there 👍

      That’s correct. This is a common upgrade for some of the early AP1’s for that reason. I suspect it takes a long time for the springs to break on the upgraded bolts but it does seem to be a relatively common issue on higher mileage s2000’s. My car is an 04 with 140k miles on it so she’s seen some use lol.
      Good luck on your rod bearings!

    So 3 of the bolts were bad even though they looked ok through the holes on the side?

    Would you happen to have the Honda Part number for these? Planning on doing it soon. You've also inspired me to go with a black valve cover for my MY00 Berlina

      @dpgarage4501  2 года назад

      15290-PCX-000 is what I used. It’s the 04 part number so that should be the updated bolt.
      I sent my valve cover to AB powder coating in Pinellas Park FL and he did a great job on it. It’s the same guy that LHT uses so he knows what he’s doing.

    Worst thing I’ve ever completed on the S2000. Second worst thing was changing the valve keeper & retainers. Haha. Both definitely needs lots and lots of patience. Don’t attempt this in a hot environment lol.

    where is your oil pressure sensor? I have mine on my oil relocation kit (Oil flow is Engine->Oil Cooler->Oil Filter holder(which has feed for turbo, filter and sensor)->Engine
    My sensor is showing around 8-9Psi on warm idle and I'm wondering if my bolts need changing

      My sensor is where the OEM pressure switch was. It’s worth a shot to replace them and see if it helps!

    Where did you get the 16ft-lb banjo bolt torque measurement from? Not finding it in the service manual. Thanks

      @dpgarage4501  2 месяца назад +1

      The service manual calls for 12 ft lbs (16Nm). Its on page 8-9 of the PDF service manual I have.

    Is this something you should do to all 00/01 AP1 even if it's N/A? I have 190k miles on my ap1.

    • @dpgarage4501

      I’m not sure if the AP1 bolts have the same issue or not. A lot of AP1 guys upgrade to the AP2 bolts because they flow more oil, but I’m not sure how necessary it is.

    • @professorkaos62

      AP1 bolts have 2 holes where the AP2 bolts have 4. A lot of people swap the AP1 bolts for AP2 bolts for this reason. I am planning to do this. As well as changing the retainers.
