No. Guts stopped being a hero at that point and became a man obsessed with revenge and uncaring of what got in the way of his goal. No sacrifice was too great, no deed too horrible. That was what the Black Swordsmen arc was, and what we see initially. It isnt until after the golden age, when casca wanders off, and Guts is forced to balance his goals with protecting her, that we see him start to regain himself and come back from being no different than Griffith. That last clip in this short, this moment where he stopped fucking cold by Cascas sound, instantly snapping him out of a rage to end all rages? That was the moment he fully became the hero once more. That was the moment he finally was able to put something above revenge.
1 day?? Guess you forgot about the year long torture Griffith went through (which is often considered in the top 3 brutal/messed up things that happens in the entire manga). Griffith is evil, but don't downplay what happend to him. After Griffith's torture, he didn't have the means anymore to become the king by human means. But his narcassism would never have allowed him to not become a king by any means necessary if not for the torture which ruined his human body, the story of Berserk would probably have gone totally different. But the Laws of Causality would never allow for a better end
This video made me remember how fucking amped I was when Guts stabbed through the the torturer who hurt Griffith and how the moments when Guts and Casca are caring for him after that felt to me like true love. Guts trying to help him put his armor on so he might feel like himself again for awhile broke my heart. I feel like when Guts saw him he was so disturbed to see the person he looked up to in a pathetic state that he would rather trade him places. God damn Miura built the Eclipse into the worst betrayal in any form of media I’ve ever consumed.
With the last chapters the expression guts had broke me he usually gets enraged but he was helpless true it’s not the same author anymore but it’s still going to be the same ending

He felt betrayed and abandoned by guts, and guts said it in the most intimate way possible, with his sword that day. Griffith thinks of guts when he smashes the princess not because hes gay, but because hes punishing himself and was thinking about how now all he truly has is his goal.
