It's more, "No, we ain't got none of your pretty bottle. You drank it all. Here's the same stuff in a different bottle." The store I work at has a pretty bad issue with secondary marketeers. There was one dude that was arrested because he was buying empty Blanton's bottles on ebay, filling them with Chestnut Farms, re-sealing them, and selling them for a couple hundred a pop.
Every time I hear Kat and Shane's name, I start to laugh because, I know the Titan of Whisk(e)y animation is about to be sped up. Titan of Whisk(e)y animation in 10 seconds. LOL.
It's interesting to see the reaction to Chestnut, I've witnessed several TW employees pushing the hell out of this and it's cheaper brother. Seeing how this is basically Barton (allegedly) it'd be fun to put it up against the single barrel or the actual 1792 BIB, which is half the price of this bottle btw. Maybe a good alternative if you don't see 1792 in stock?
Question for the MBs: Made my first “big boy” bottle purchase of Redbreast 12. The TW whisk(e)y “expert” steered me away from the 12 Cask Strength and 15 because it was my first bottle. After a few glasses I realized this delicious bottle of 12 won’t last very long. Once it’s bottle-down, do I jump to another Redbreast? Or is there another Irish or Irish-adjacent that I should be looking at?
Really ironic... The girl at Total Wine and More, the new store in Indianapolis ( Carmel ), just tried to steer me to this Chestnut farms, and stating how it is highly cherished, and sought after, and how greag this is.
You don’t like having an Amish sounding name on 80% of all labels? Blasphemy! The bourbon brotherhood banishes you to the wine land where interesting labels are plentiful. Kidding. I’m a sucker for cool labels/bottles. Come on bourbon marketing give me those books I can judge by their covers.
I feel like Rex called me Gary deliberately for recommending the brushwood special haircut before it was an option on the voting list, o so many years ago.
I’m late to the game as I just received a bottle of their regular Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 90 proof, and it’s dang good. Smooth and a very long finish. Way better than any Kirkland brand I’ve tasted. Hazelnut, banana and a bit of oak👍
Was wondering if you guys can do a review on (The Shinzo I blended whisky mizunara oak). Would this be like a cheap kind of whisky or what have you? Or how can I get your guys address or something so I can send a bottle to you guys
I really enjoyed this bourbon... the very first pour from the neck of the bottle gave me these diesel gasoline Barrel Char notes, almost too much chemical could have just been my palate playing games with me. After that really nice though
Whiskey Tribe idea based on what Rex said: "Know Your Wood". Get several different pieces of wood, smell them, burn them, even take a wood burning kit to them, and then compare them to the whiskey where you found those flavors. Maybe even blind smell them to see if you actually know what sandalwood smells like.
Just watched the glenglassaugh episode (I have some catching up to do) where you were discussing the need for an anticlimactic level above Titan of Whisky. Daniel should say who it's from and then it just cuts to a close up of Rex's face as he says, "thaaanks" in the same tone of voice which he thinks it's wistful.
Same! Love the entire lineup of Chestnut and just bought the Single Barrel last week which is DAMN good. Don't think it's worth what they're selling for though. Take around 30 off the BiB price and it'd be worth it, 15 off the normal 90 proof and around 50 off the Single Barrel and then I'd be recommending it to all my friends so much they'd have to tape my mouth shut.
Ok but here in AZ it reg bottle of it goes for $60 and the BiB goes for $100. I can get 1792 BIB for $40 every other month or so. I enjoy 1792, so is it actually a $100 bottle? Seems way way overpriced
It's distilled and aged at dsp-ky-12 (Barton) and bottled at dsp-ky-113 (Buffalo Trace - in an E.H. Taylor bottle). It shows this on the new black box it comes in.
The stepping back is just you taking it all in and being observant. You are both trying to give Daniel the space he needs to pour and move around the "danger zone" while increasing your ability to remain objective. (Next time you do it touch Daniel on the shoulder and see how weird it makes you feel.) :D
Sitting down to watch this, and I realize something strange is happening, I've been team Rex (an aspiring mooch) for ages, but then I realized, I am wearing a black v-neck t-shirt, am I switching to the dark side?. I am having an identity crisis. There is only one cure, more whiskey.
@@garyroland9266 You know I've lived in Ohio most of my life, have never been to the Hamvention. I'm usually on call that week, and as I live about 3 hours north of there, it hasn't been feasible. That almost changed a few years back, I had a chance to buy a house directly across the street from the Greene County fairgrounds where the Hamvention has moved to, sadly I made the wrong decision.

Isn't the 1792 Small Batch like 1/3 the price of the Chestnut Farms???
Straight from the Total Wine handbook. "No, I'm sorry, we don't have any Blanton's. But have you had Chestnut Farms? Its just like it!" hahhahaaaaaa

@@FishingwDLo Doesn't matter to some people. If it's owned by Saz, that's all they care about. Saz could bottle dog sweat and it'd fly off the shelf.
Can’t tell you how many times “Total Wine Guy” has tried to pawn off Chestnut Farms. Even at other TWs...”Hey, have you had this?” 🤦🏻♂️
@@WhiskeySpiritGuide Hahahaha True
I grabbed a bottle of this and liked it very much. thanks guys.

I might check out the Spot line - Green Spot is delicious.
the Redbreast Lustau edition is rather tasty
The Cast Strength is amazing.
first bourbon i had that makes me want more, pairs perfectly with cigars too
Good to see you've finally caved to Emma and left the Laphroaig were it belongs 😂
If we speed up the Titan animation enough will it make a time warp and send them back to MB status? Maybe start running it in reverse?

Don't fight the step back! It is part of what makes you, YOU! Kind of how Hobbits seek comfort and not adventure.............See what i did there?
Rex was born in the Step Back. Molded by it...
You can buy 1792 BiB for $40. This cost $100 for the EXACT SAME WHISKEY.
1792 is an under appreciated bourbon.
ET BiB, bought recently by BT, is just a bit more flavorful and half the price.
Hey guys, any plans to upload to Bit Chute at all?
Nice to see a tastefully designed label on a bourbon.

Chestnut Farms is $100 when 1792 is like $28. Better hope it is at least slightly better lol
It used to be $60 but then they had the brilliant idea to mark up the price. it's honestly a little sad because it's a bottle I love
👀 so.... are we gonna finish the quintessential series?
I hold you both in high regard.
I like the long version of the Titan's intro.....
Emma is at it again. Put the Lagavulin back!
