Man this games presentation is amazing. The hype uplifting music, crazy speed, vibrant colorful graphics, the voice screaming at you. There's so much charm in these old arcade games
the colors!! feels like disneyworld!
Yea i know moder games like thos can't capture the charm of the first 3d games like this at all.
It's because they were literally trying to get people that never played video games to play them. Honestly it seems weird that arcade games are dead now considering how many microtransactions all these phone games have now, it's not like you're spending more money on a 50 cent or $1 per-play arcade game.
To this day, I can't believe that this game was never released for consoles or digital download. No Dreamcast, no PS2, no ps3. Nothing. 😔
@@freddyvoorhees4293 The only time I ever got to play it was when the arcade in my supermarket had one of these,it was Battle On The Edge though, sadly the arcade closed a year or two after and I've never been able to find these since, only the first game is available
Bro this is 1998 and the detail in this game is incredible and they put so much care and support into this game it is just incredible for 1998
Almost feels like you're playing a PS2 game.
@@RacingGamerJosh yes exactly
Better color than modern games
People were still throwing money into the first Daytona (which was now like 5 years old) so they really had to put some effort in. They kept the essence of the original, which was the sensation of speed 👍
around $4k for model 3 board alone, so you could expect some quality.

They don't make tracks like this anymore. Aside from the begginer course, wich is meant to be an acessable oval, the intermediate and expert tracks take you to a trek on visual presentation.
The atraction park, with a different theme after each tunnel. Pirate, old west, snow, etc. The city track goes from city center to the stadium, to the docks and back into the city.
It's not just a racing track, it's a visual trip.
remind me NFS2 used to have that kind of distinct theming
Outrun 2 did the same, Sega racing games despite not being realist were pretty fun! I still give a go to these games nowadays when I have some free time!

You turned Daytona USA 2 into Initial D with all that drifting! Nice!
I still remember sitting in this machine as a kid. It was fun using the wheel as it would fight with you while driving. And manual stick was fun to use.
I spent more time pretending to play arcade games than actually playing them as a kid.
@@twelvelookslike that's why we had the quarter on a string trick as kids lol
That graphics its very impressive for a 1998 game.
They look like early PS2 game graphics which was breathtaking in 1998.
@@sulejmaniapologist I think they look better than early PS2. Maybe around early 7th gen tier. (I think the models look very smooth overall) Didn't early PS2 games have an issue with the A/V and result in dark, muddy graphics?
@@solarflare9078 Yea, but the underlying graphics could still be better. Gran Turismo 3 proved the system could get superior graphics, and it ran at a higher resolution (compared to Daytona 2 on native hardware). Considering Daytona 2 is running on extremely expensive hardware (upwards of 10K+) for its time that’s no small feat
@@sulejmaniapologist This system was much more powerful than PS2. It was only superseded by the PS3.
@@jimb12312 i think the HD emulation makes it look better than it truly was. it seems about comparable to OG Xbox
they really should release all thes old arcades in a collection or volumes for current consoles and pc
Well, Sega has the Daytona USA Name back so I support this idea.
you are talking always of sega, the company with the worst and uncompetent managment of all time

old daytona games: car get twisted n broken when damaged
Nfs Heat 2019: car made out of the most strong and solid material on earth and can crush any tree
Timestamp for that?
@aoalvo96 Yes. Back then no one was caring games. Gaming industry was free for doing things. But today games are more important alas that importance gives us some side effects :d
Meanwhile, the other cars in daytona are indestructible..
@@paulunga so you didn't watch this vid and go straight to comment section huh...it just in the first minute and you didn't saw
@@dan_noo No, I watched the entire video. I don't see any "twisting and breaking". Some minor bumps at most. Nothing special, anyway.
When i'm driving in sim : actually having good racing line, perfect braking, touching apex, etc.
When i'm driving in arcade : Haywire time
Seriously, thats what I love about arcade racing games! You get rules you never have in sims.
This is why I want an arcadey racing game like midnight club or nfsu2 again

Believe it or not, this was my first arcade game I ever played. Sad this was made in the dying age of arcade games though...
Same here, one of the earliest arcade games I've ever touched, back in 2012 I believe
@@denverkweh1642 My first exposure was around 2005 or 2006. Hard to remember the year since it was so far back, but I didn't know what to do initially w/o help. Once I learned though, I was having a lot of fun.
@@solarflare9078 Sadly I never got the time to learn it as the arcade went away in just a few months😢. The next consecutive arcades there never ever had Daytona USA 2's cabinet, only the first game. I only got back to this game again via emulator, kinda wished I got to play it behind the wheel.
@@solarflare9078 The time you discovered the game I was only a year old😂
Greatest genius both Yu Suzuki and Toshihiro Nagoshi in both Daytona USA 1 and 2: Battle on the edge and this extraordinary Power Edition. Congratulations! Omedetou!
The twerking cars always get me.
roflmaooo~! Hahahahaha
The car is twerking because of the damage in the wheels, but its funny to know that this car of his twerks real quick.

Supermodel emulation is looking spot on now!!
25 years.... the re-release is coming daytona 2 bros...
6:21 that announcer man, I swear, and especially when it’s the final lap, INSANE. They really made this game pure adrenaline. First time I ever played this in a deluxe cabinet’s I was hooked. Today it is still THE REFERENCE in the genre. Nothing can touch it. I dont know what the hell sega is waiting for to port it, they just have to rename it if it’s licence issues for god sake!
IT’S FINALLY BEING PORTED TO CONSOLES!!!!
The only game that can touch the similar level of excitement was Ridge Racer Type 4
It's more than just the name that would've had to be changed. It also had licenses under NASCAR so they would most definitely have to renew those as well.
I remember playing this game all the time whenever I went to the arcade. This and ‘Off-road Thunder’. Great times.
So many memories with the "Time extension" voice. lol
I remember that game at NASCAR Cafe at Universal CityWalk.
This got my heart pounding
今見ても十分綺麗なグラフィックだな
Justo en la infancia. Gracias crack
And this is a 1998 game. Incredible, just unbelievable.
Games were advancing so quickly back then, i used to love seeing new games at the arcade and being blown away. From 1985-2000 the progress was insane, never got bored since each generation was opening up new opportunities.
This is running on Sega's Model 3 arcade hardware. Even the most high-end PC you could possibly buy in the late 90's didn't remotely compare to the Model 3. While 3D graphics were progressing very quickly in general, Sega literally had the fastest 3D hardware on the _planet_ throughout most of the 90's, starting with the Model 1 (1992). They were utterly untouchable, as this game perfectly demonstrates. For some reason you'll rarely see Sega get credited for such a big achievement.
@@ItPutsTheLotionOnItsSkin "For some reason you'll rarely see Sega get credited for such a big achievement."
Ikr? Everytime someone mentions arcade games being impressive, they point to games like Double Dragon and CPS1 games. Bitch, we have Galaxy Force and Power Drift.
They need a stable home port of this and the first 1 with online multiplayer. I would pay for that! $$$
They should cancel fort crap and release these games instead
Very cool video! I love that you recorded all the tracks including their mirrored counterparts. Mirror mode is interesting. Even the cars are mirrored (with the decal text backwards). I believe they accomplished it by sticking a -1 in the x-axis scale component of one or more of the transform matrices. When I first tried it out on early versions of Supermodel, I was surprised to discover the car polygons were rendered "inside out" and most of the track was invisible because of how I was doing back-face culling. I strongly suspect that mirror mode is simply a clever hack and that the game is actually still running the simulation as normal but inverting the controls and graphics along the x axis.
Hey, it's the man himself! I really appreciate all the work you and others have put into this emulator.
@@arronmunroe Thanks! We are all happy to see people still enjoying it in 2020 :)
The one arcade game that deserves a home release , but never got it.
I love this arcade game.. This 1 of my favorite.. My favorite is in hood view which is very difficult
Thank you for upload it. :D
Me and my cousin used to play this in a Sydney bar back when it was near new. It was a buzz after a few drinks 😊
That V8 engine sound, sounds ripping it.
Daytona USA 2
the best racing arcade game ever
9:47 "you're burning up the tyres" of course he is, he just cracked a fat 360 drift at 142mph at nearly 90° angle!!
I wish this had gotten a console release.
I'm glad they finally brought this game to home gaming consoles Xbox, Playstation via Like a Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name. It's playable in the Arcade
The special map looks ridiculous. I love it
For a moment, the thumbnail with the red skeleton made me think this was a creepypasta haunted game thing, like the nes godzilla thing, but this turns out to be a normal game, and that skeleton merely a prop in a spooky themed track.
THIS IS SWAG!
9:04 the map is a dog :D
or a seahorse when fllipped vertically
I never thought that when i see it for the 98th time
At around 36:39 you can see the 00's driver just standing there while the people (IN THE TIRES) put out the fire. Most likely because widescreen rendering is enabled.
Dios que nostalgia este juego,lo jugaba a los 6 años
Nice driving!
I love it when my spotter speaks in a constant snarl.
I wish Sega would release Daytona USA 2 & 3 to play at home I'm burned out on the first one.
This version and the other one has differences like the beginner course and the speed limit. Also its cool how they got the hornet in power edition :)
I really wish that Sega could make a standalone version of Daytona USA 2 for home consoles!
12:18 10000 IQ move
Awesome times remember this game .
2:01 Amazing !
I used to kick ass in the 10 player linked arcade game. Early 2000’s at gameworks in Schaumburg Illinois. If I had space, somehow, I would have one of these cabinets to play.
Watching this again, I think the Voice from this game is actually Dean Harrington aka the Smash Bros Announcer himself. He said it wasn't his voice in Ridge Racer Type 4 but I think it's his voice in Daytona USA 2.
Master Hand and the Announcer in Melee he was.
The pit crew chief sounds a lot like the driver of the Lizard truck in 18 Wheeler! 😅
It's probably the same voice. I think both games were by Amusement Vision but I couldn't get any info on the actor. I know who Daytona USA 2001's actor is but he's sueing Sega for Discrimination which he probably won't win because he broke NDA.
I so wanna see this game on consoles soon!! ❤
12:18 amazing finish showdown
For 777 speedway, if you hit the last wall, the dent you get allows you to go faster than undamaged.
Is this on PC? How do I get this game?
It would be awesome if Sega bring this classic to current pc and consoles.. especially switch..
Omg the music bring back memories
The Mirror Version Of The Challenge Course Looks More Challenging Than Before.
AMAZING GAME !!!
What I miss most is to go to the arcade to play this game that now I can't because of the pandemic.
When im was a kid my parents use to give me a coin to play this game and today still remember the moment like if the machine was a eternal enemy jajaja my little me always dream about pass to the next level, epic!
We need this game on the Nintendo Switch!!!
Can you post a race beating the hardest al on the challenge course and using the hard and special cars?
Sorry, but I don't really want to do that. I don't think that the hardest AI setting actually changes too much, but I think beating the challenge stage with the special car would be a little too difficult for me.
still better than nfs heat.
TIIIIIIME EXTENTION
Just... keep hearing this voice in my head. :(
This music is 🔥!!
Singer reminds me of Kenny Loggins!!!!
this game is very fun and i can't stop playing it on my computer. bad ice cream 3 on hudgames is good game
Edit, if all the audio and force feedback wheel were 100%, the game was amazing.
Hey Ages! You're in a actual racing game unlike Sonic Transformed.
Hmmm, the audio on the race calling is not as good as I remember. I'ts perfect on mine. What version of the emulator are you running ?
I used SVN r775. You are playing the Power Edition of the game? The audio is a little different in that version.
@@arronmunroe Ok, I tried it and its works great. The commentator audio is perfect, no background music.
Does it usually sound better? I never played on the original cabinet, so I assumed it was intentional to simulate the sound of a radio near your head
My childhood
can you make a tutorial on how to get these to work with download links to the files needed
A video like this already exists if you check out the RUclips video called "SEGA MODEL 3 emulator / SuperModel guide / Playing Daytona USA 2". The specific emulator version shown is out of date and the rom is for the regular version, not the Power Edition, but it shouldn't be too hard to get the information you need from that video.
How do you get the controls so smooth? are you using a wheel?
I used an Xbox One controller for this.
@@arronmunroe Can you do the 2 player playthrough of Dolphin Blue, and Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits on Demul? Can you also do your playthrough of Maximum Speed, and Faster Than Speed on Demul? These are great games on the Atomiswave!
@@jodyposey9558 I played Dolphin Blue before but ran into an audio issue. There is likely a fix for it, but I'll need to check it out again. I haven't tried the others, but I likely can play them. I can't say for sure when I can finish, but I can't do them right away.
@@arronmunroe Oh thank you man. Also don't forget the other great games including Capcom's Giga Wing 1 in 1999, and Giga Wing 2 in 2000, SNK's Blazing Star in 1997, and Noise Factory's Sengoku 3 in 2001!

i am still asking to myself why sega didn't ported it on dreamcast
great gameplay! could you make a video by testing the supermodel emulator Link System?
I don't think I can do that right now. I would need to verify this, but I thought that there was an issue with lag when running two copies because the link emulation isn't perfect. Another problem is I don't currently have access to another computer I could use to record the second screen.
