The Classic Media logo absolutely terrified me as well, but fortunately, I still have a VHS player. I'll search through my collections of movies to see if I have my old Rudolph VHS and get back to this comment.

@@lulaloopsey Was able to find the Rudolph VHS and honestly, the plot thickens!
The release I had was the Golden Book release from the 2000s and it has neither the Classic Media logo nor the Rankin Bass, with those being replaced with the Sony Wonder and Golden Book logos. And it is the latter of these I think I was thinking of, because when the logo appears prior to the film. There is a countdown to when the film starts but it only goes from 10-2, leaving out the one and cutting solely to black. Due to my parents often doing the countdown to punishment alongside the general fear of missing out, I think is misplaced my fear of the Golden Book logo/countdown to the Classic Media logo as well. Absolutely no idea how this fear could have been misplaced however.
But, in an upload called “A Rankin Bass-Production/Classic Media [1971/2002]” has the music from the R-B logo playing over the CM logo as well. Perhaps this is closer to the version of what you remember? There is a comment under the video of someone expressing they were trying to find a jingle over the CM logo.
Update: in an upload called “Classic Media, LLC.” there is a unique jingle that honestly sounds a bit scifi and possibly could be perceived as scary to a kid?

So much other creepy stuff in Brave Little Toaster:
    The air conditioner EXPLODING.
The garbage dump with cars singing about how miserable they are before being put into a compactor.
The weird tulip or whatever that wilts after simping over the toaster
The gang falling off a cliff and the vacuum having a seizure
The scene where they sink in quicksand
The mechanic who treats appliances like human organ harvesting, and his victims sing about how heinous he is. And the mechanic? He just smiles and is jovial and bright the entire time as if he thinks he's not causing any harm.
I'm sorry what the fuck is this movie?

@@lulaloopsey yup. The funny thing is this was made in the 80s. Disney movies in the 80s other than the little mermaid weren't very family friendly. It was a lot of dark ones like this and black cauldron, but also movies like great mouse detective which was family friendly except the strip tease number in a pub.
I am digressing here. They even made legit horror movies that you can't tell me were not for adults like return to Oz, the watcher in the woods. Return to Oz is terrifying but also a fever dream.
The 89s was just a time for fever dream movies it seems. We also got things like Labyrinth. The one with the monsters that ripped their eyes out and bounced their heads like balls while singing jazz? And it was glorious

I remember the Classic Media logo scaring me as a kid too but I distinctly remember it being scary because it had no audio, which was really eerie following how loud the Rankin Bass one was. Let me tell you some of my trauma!
A particular Backyardigans episode, this was specifically the episode titled "Caveman's Best Friend", I was scared of it because of the scene where everyone starts sinking in tar, I think this mainly comes from the fact that once weight was taken off of the bigger vehicles they'd just instantly sink in a single millisecond, also the fact they start singing as if they AREN'T about to meet God. To this day I still have an irrational fear of tar and quicksand, however I did rewatch the episode and I'm sad it brought me such trauma because it's really funny (highly recommend)
Scooby Doo, when I was a lot younger I thought Scooby Doo was supposed to fully be scary, I just couldn't it, it got to the point where when my parents got a recorded tape of the Blue's Room special "Blue's Baby Brother", I didn't touch that tape for an unnecessarily long time, because my parents ALSO put Scooby Doo And The Witch's Ghost on it, and it would play BEFORE Blue's Room, I did eventually see the Blue's Room special when my brother agreed to skip through the whole movie (except the ending song, we both agree it hits hard, yee to the Hex Girls), and this special's 10/10, and years later when I got used to Scooby Doo, I did also see the Witch's Ghost movie, it's really good, but also edgy, I was right, this movie would scare my 6 year old self, actually, now I'm an avid fan of Scooby Doo, and by that, I mean I watch some movies and episodes when I get the chance, my favorite movies consist of Zombie Island (obviously), Music Of The Vampire, Camp Scare, and the 2nd Live Action one, I do still intend to see the 1st live action movie too

    Things that scared me:
On my DVD for Barbie Mermaidia, I couldn't watch it for a while because I was scared of the Lionsgate logo
The second Radical Sheep logo on The Big Comfy Couch kept me from sleeping (if you're Canadian, you know exactly what I'm talking aout)
The Paramount "licensed for use in homes only" warning, specifically the 2000s one with the greyish screen and weird font letters that came on one of my Dora the Explorer DVDs
Ren and Stimpy (I had random VHSes I got from others, one was a Ren and Stimpy VHS, luckily it was all of the show I saw and it actually had the tame episodes, but as soon as I found others, specifically the one where Ren pulls at his gums and the creepy psycho dog and the Scottish guy, NOPENOPENOPE)
Chernabog from Fantasia, I saw him on the DVD case before even watching it (not that I wanted too) and my thought was "I'm scared, what if a big dragon kills me in my sleep?"
Any time in anime where a character had one of those weird traditional Japanese figures/egghead like things with the beady eyes, red frame/hair/whatever, long mustache like marks and frowns (not onis or anything like that btw). Like the ep in Pokemon where Misty thought one was Togepi and then she saw it wasn't him and screamed and threw it to the floor. Yeah, I'd do the same thing.
The WGBH logo at the end of Arthur. Gah!
Not scary but when my mom went to the store and bought me anime DVDs like Super Gals, Pokemon, and Seven of Seven, and Super Gals was full of swearing (mom's mistake)
So yeah, lots of obscure stuff here. No Are You Afraid of the Dark, Courage, creepy Hey Arnold episodes, etc because I didn't grow up with any of that

The four main childhood fears I had that I can clearly remember were
    - The blueberry scene from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (and possibly the Oompa Loompa song by extension?), for a long time I would leave the room whenever this movie was put on
    - The Princess Bride, don't remember what scene scared Child Me, but like with Willy Wonka, I could not be in the same room as this movie for a long time (thankfully I have watched both movies since then, and I enjoy both of them now)
    - Mutant Neopets (except for Lenny and Hissi), pretty sure it was mostly Mutant Koi that freaked me out despite Koi being my favorite Neopet species at the time (pretty sure part of it was me knowing that color change random events were a thing and being scared that my Koi would randomly get her color changed from Baby to Mutant while I was clicking around), it was to the point where when looking at pet colors in the Rainbow Pool I'd check by color and not by species, I remember at one point when my mom was helping me set up a shop I had bolted out of the room when I saw the Mutant Koi shopkeeper option (started playing Neopets again last year, and nowadays my opinion on these sillies has done a complete 180, I love them so much and most of my pets on my current account are painted Mutant)
    - The game over screen from Plants vs Zombies 2. I don't have too much to say about this one other than I guess the picture of the brain on a plate freaked Child Me out and I'd close out the game right before this screen would show up

I think in the 2011 show the song was a bit quicker so it didn't sound as creepy as the older one. I remember hating the rat and thinking he was creepy.

I have my own theory with the Classic Media logo. I feel like a lot of people might be slightly confusing it with the Baby Einstein logo. The two logos look pretty similar, and I remember at the beginning of my Baby Einstein videos they would show the logo with eerie music and a loud disclaimer from Julie Clark. I feel like because people have memories of those videos that they don’t exactly remember, they apply the same thing to the Classic Media because of the resemblance between the two logos.
As for other scary logos, I’m surprised no one has mentioned the MGM lion. Specifically I remember at the beginning of the Grinch VHS the logo had a trippy roller coaster thing leading up to the lion with blaring loud music and effects. Nowadays when I rewatch that logo I think it’s actually pretty cool, but it was definitely unsettling to me upon first watch as a kid

I was terrified of the THX and MGM logo as a kid, I’m autistic and they were way too loud for me. I can tolerate them better, but it still makes me nervous. We’d have to look up if Pixar made the movie if we saw it in theaters bc more often than not, if it was Pixar, the THX logo played after the lamp one. I’d usually wait outside far away from our theater section until previews were over and the movie started. But one time we went to see Cars 2, and completely forgot to research who made the movie. So I got jumpscared by the THX logo in the theater. My mom didn’t really understand my fear until that day, bc as soon as I recognized it, I jumped onto her lap, and covered and plugged my ears. And she still says she remembers me shaking uncontrollably, and remembers me crying softly in her lap after it was over.

I was afraid of the pink elephant on parade when I was little not now.
I'm still sacred of spiders but not as bad as when I was a kid well my sisters played through orinca of time when it came out before I got a chance to play and almost died straight away in great duku tree because of skull spiders I keept hitting them while they where facing me in my panic from seeing them.
Oh another one thanks to this game if see a wall or floor master in a legend of Zelda game my heart starts racing. It was late at night trying find my way in the forest temple I stopped for to long started hearing enemy music playing looked around when a shadow over took link a hand came down at that moment I had big nooop moment turn off the game ran upstairs and went to my room.
The redead and dead hand scared me a frist but after the frist time seeing them it was ok not too bad. I seen scaryer stuff from the crypt keeper.
If I was a kid today I would be scared of the demon and the Anabelle doll from Anabelle creation and some of the lol dolls.

If I had to throw out a random guess, maybe the VCR was generating some weird off putting noise because there was no audio on the tape behind the logo?
Also as a kid I was existentially terrified of DVD menus and movie end credits for some reason. I still cannot think of a theory as to why I was so repulsed by the idea of leaving them idle.
