    Fantastic trick to lock the aperture. I remember you picking my brain over the topic. I didn’t understand at the time what direction you were going. That’s a great solution you discovered and it will not damage the equipment. Well done.

      Thank you my friend! The solution was quite simple if you have a wood stick. I found an ice cream stick and i did cut a small piece and used it as a spacer

    Thanks for the video! I've got a nice idea after watching it!
    13:06 now, try to change the declination of the lens :)

    HAHAHA 😂 what a co-incidence, I just learned that yesterday noon while experimenting with my ASI224MC and Nikon 70-300 mm lens. And now today, while searching for astrophotography using ASI224MC and camera lens, I came across your video. Anyways, I cut two parts from a matchstick to insert them at the place and keep the aperture fully open. Also planning to 3D print the small tab to use as an insert. Now just waiting for the clouds to clear the Canadian skies ☺. Thanks for sharing 👍

      thank you! That's awesome! A 3d printed small piece would be very nice. i wonder why zwo does not sell something like this for similar situations

    Thanks for the video. I am going through the same process. Some time I had used the little wedge to hold the aperture open but couldn't make it work now. In the end I made a 'C' clip that holds the aperture open. Horses for Courses eh?

      Glad you found a good way to use it. Lately i have been using my refractor at 360 mm with dedicated heavier cameras. I feel a little stressed using a heavy camera with the setup i used in the video but with lighter cameras it feels more stable

    Canon lens that have no aperture ring, and are not STM, will default to wide open when used with the adapter. Its only lens that are closed when they are not connected that have this issue. Easy check is to look through a lens when not connected, if its wide open, all good. Otherwise you have to do a trick like this

      Hello thanks for the info. Unfortunately i have only Nikon lenses and all are closed when removed from my Nikon camera. When i will get the chance i will look through some canon lenses to see if they have the iris closed or open. Clear Sky!

    I have a Sony 70-200 F4, is it possible to use with ZWO Astro cam ? If yes which ZWO model you recommend and which ZWO adapter to mate with this Sony lens ?

      Hello. Unfortunately i do not have Sony camera or lenses at the moment. Zwo adapter should work regarding adapter you need one that works with sony i think

    very nicely explained the usage here... Is it possible to use this adapter between a Nikon DSLR and Nikon lens, so that I can attach filters for night sky photography?

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  2 года назад

      I have not tryed that so i do not know. You can still use filters on front of many lenses using a step down ring

      @@GalaxyArtMedia I am looking for options to use filters like L-enhance/ L-pro... my lens is a 95mm.. there will be a lot of vignetting if I try to step down...

    This is great too and even better shows why this is just not a good idea. Apples and oranges - the astro cameras are meant for long focal length telescopes. Thanks very much Ioan.

      Thank you. The size of the sensor does matter also in this situation. If i will use my new camera.altair 26c that is apsc size i can get better images with this setup. Especially milky way. But for dso it needs longer focal. My last project is with messier 106 at 1500 mm with skymax 127. Clouds most of the nights so i have for the moment 3 hours of images
