Tessa Tape is pretty nice electrical tape, amzn.to/2sOJkE1 - Авто/Мото
Appreciate the detailed video and ALL of your content. Gathering parts to LS swap my Blazer, DIY'ing everything down to the compete engine bay harness, and being able to play with the computer settings myself after watching your videos is just cherry on top of the cake!
Great Video! I Like Learning More About Tuner Pro & LS Droid, Because It's Usally All About TerminatorX, MS3, FAST, EFI Live And/Or The Other Stand Alones.
quick, simple to the point! love the bench harness video, just made one over xmas and by far this is the MOST KISS method version ive seen! and nice clean work surface! :)
I was a bit of a bummer when I wanted my pliers from inside though lol, and couldn't lift the lid
Thank you JR for a simple setup for a bench harness 2 thumbs up
Thank you for all you do! All your videos are very informative and easy to follow. I am at the beginning of a 07 5.3 Tahoe build, and You and Richard Holdner are a great help!
Glad to help!
Thanks for taking the time to help us out with our ls project.
What are you guy's working on?
I will do your tune pro and LS droid instead of wasting money on a tuner like a hypertech or something similar. Laundry, dinner, your videos and then back to work tomorrow. LOL I keep you in the know of how things go and thanks again for the motivation and know how videos.
thanks for the demonstration jr much appreciated
Love the down and dirty type content man. Straight to the point.
I appreciate you pointing me to this build video and hate to ask again but I'm looking for a bench harness for newer ecm's. ( GM's E38)
I've noticed the majority of content revolves around the same two older ECM'S and ALOT of truck engines since they are a dime a dozen. I'm building a 6.2L LS3 out of a 2013 Camaro ss with a TR6060 6 speed manual transmission. I understand it's a more expensive option and all but I'm still surprised at how little information is available on this little arrangement.
Building a 1970 Camaro and trying to stick with all Camaro parts for the next owners (probably one of my kids) for simplicity its:
body= 1970 Camaro parts Drivetrain= 2013 Camaro parts
Mixed in with as little aftermarket goodies as possible.
12 years in the making, this is the third engine I've bought/built for this project. Something alway's comes up and I have to sell stuff. . Engines and transmissions get sacrificed first to hold onto the car itself. I will say though, everytime I sell and have to re-purchase it gets better.. lol, last engine and trans was a LT1 and a 5 speed out of a 98 Camaro SS.. and before that was a good ol 350 SBC and a Borg Warner 4 speed.
Soon it will end up as electric motor I guess if I don't get this thing bolted down and running before the next crisis arises ! SMH... 🍻
I've never touched an E38, and have little intention of every doing anything with a Gen IV engine.
Far more than I'm willing to pay to buy in, with too many headaches.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer yup, nailed it, and nailed it...
It's been what one might call " a learning curve " and an expensive one at that. If I had it to do over again at this point I would have been better off just buying the "connect and cruise LS3 " from performance Chevrolet. 9k for the engine and trans, plus the wiring harness, HP tuner, custom driveshaft (due to the TR6060 trans tail shaft) and then a front accessory drive system since the factory one wouldn't clear the A-arms.. by the time you add it all up I could have bought a brand new LS3 connect and cruise with a Warranty!
It's a 1970 Camaro that I've restored from the ground up by myself so I wanted it done up nice. Still have more to do but its almost ready to fire up. Wish I would have came across your channel sooner. Like before paying out the nose for a low mileage " All Aluminium LS3 " I thought I needed... you are helping alot of folks out. Hope they at least throw ya a bone and buy a hoodie or two. I can't seen to find much of anything on the interwebs about this 2013 Camaro SS swapping business. But I'm mustering through it on my own. Little by little. I figured out my bench harness last night and disabled Vats, rear O2's, wrote it all on there and tested it. Still have alot to learn about tuning but I'm getting it sorted out.
Borrowed a j2534 from work. Got a blue connector and a obd2 plug. Just need to build the bench harness.
Nice toolbox
I just made mine last night. I didnt put any switches on mine. Just wired all the battery and power together, they get switched on when it gets plugged in.
I did that for a long time, it worked fine
@@TheDrivewayEngineer yeah I'm actually at work rewatching your video on how to set up everything. Having the young guys help me with the computer part lmao
Sometimes you’re too honest, JR.
“I gotta poop”.... that was hilarious.
Hecks yea Jr thanks buddy always good 👍
Lmao! "If you used to much nitrous and it made your floor fall out."
Thanks JR another great video ✌
i like ur style
There is also a black connector don't know what it goes to but the clear one goes to 3800's and 3100's 2000 models ground wire goes to pin 16 instead of 1 other 3 are the same.
Can you do that for a lbz computer
clear for v6
Would a computer power supply work to power it?
what if my ecus still in the vechile could i plug into my odb port directv
When I mention repeatedly don't do this with the ecu in your vehicle, I really mean, do this with the ecu in your vehicle.
Are you still using the alibaba wiring harness? How well is it working for you? I'm gonna go the same route you did (LS droid tune, alibaba harness).
It's still on my engine sitting in the garage, it still works.
It's not like, on my daily driver or anything
Should I just cut my pcm connector out of my old harness?
Any PCM connector will work
@@TheDrivewayEngineer ok thank you
so i have the blue connector out of a 2005 gmc truck that i took the lq9 motor out of for my truck so i striped the wires down to what u said but on pin 58 my wire is not the same color as urs does it matter
No
@@TheDrivewayEngineerok thank u sir ill be doing the new ls droid pc version so im gonna use the pcm out of the 2005 gmc to test with not takeing a chance of messing mine up till i know what im doing
I just got my dangle got to read one pcm I was not able to save file and now it wont connect. Did I get a faulty device?
I don't know?
There does seem to be some issues with Tunerpro and the OBDlink lately.
My ECU has a 5volt reference pin. Does this still work without it? Or do you need to give it 5 volts aswell
My understanding the 5 volt reference pin is for things like monitoring 02 sensors
Not needed for a bench test harness
Would happen to remember the part # of the dongle that you used for this thank you
The dongle is an OBDLINK LX, it should be linked in the description
@@TheDrivewayEngineer thank you for the info
@@kevinhumphrey932 obdx pro vt is 4x faster and is supported by LS Droid and PC Hammer.
Cool pin out. Like it. Now I just need to build a standalone harness for the bench. Can you help me with that sir?
That's what I just built in the video
Sorry I misunderstood it. I was thinking it was a way to flash the computer. So with this setup I can run and engine on a test stand then. Ok
I'm new to the LS swap world. Been a mechanic for years. Worked on modern day cars and trucks. Just never did a LS swap into anything as of yet. Thanks for your help. Can I contact you another way sir for further questions?
This is a way to tune a PCM on the bench, not a standalone harness for running on a stand.
Our Facebook group is linked in the description, either I, or someone is always on there to help.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer no we're not... most often we are there to ridicule.
What is best pcm to use with 6.0 engine
Some people you just have to spoon feed I see hahaha
Solder and seal connectors are bad news, solder designed to melt at lower temperature so it is weak and cracks later on. Will be nightmare to track down
There's like five wires here, it's not very difficult to track down lol
The good ones are used by the USAF on aircraft, but I don't feel like paying retail for those. If the harness is properly controlled (super easy on such a basic bench mockup harness) it will do fine.
can i use this setup with obdlink mx+?
Can use it with anything that plugs into the OBD port
@@TheDrivewayEngineer thank you for taking your time to answer. i am currently ls swapping my 1977 pontiac firebird and your videos have helped me alot. keep up the good work. peace from Norway
Would you say PO1 or P59
Whatever one you have, I have one of each
If I may ask why are you only using the blue pcm.plug ?
No pins on the other part need to be accessed for tuning
Awesome so if I use any other PCM it will still work ? Or is the blue the only one needed period ? .. I'm a good bear with me 😂
@@pinetreemafiallc7052 it'll work with any blue red or blue green
You are the man !! I'll be building one asap iv got to pull vats out of my PCM for my 56 Chevy Bel Air project
You just go to Google play and download the app for LS droid?
You can get LS Droid from Ls-droid.com or use PCMhammer.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer thanks again and I will look shortly afterwards.
I love how u seem to be mad at the world lol
he works in the automotive world... its a requirement.
U know ur right
Will LS Droid work with a LM 327?
I don't use LS Droid at all on anything any longer.
PCM Hammer and Tunerpro will do what you need
What type of odb2 to pc cable do you use?
Bluetooth
@@TheDrivewayEngineer Thanks, I'm interested in data aq. Can I use HP Tuner SW and ODB2 Max LX or do I need HP Tuners $300 interface?
HP Tuners isn't going to work without their hardware.
PCM Hammer has data logging
Lol.I can tell you aren't a fan of fast and furious. Mitsubishi drivers"how dare you!" Honda drivers "how dare you!"
I remembered it was an Eclipse as I was saying it, then just kept going because I thought it would be funny to trigger people lol
@@TheDrivewayEngineer that is precisely what I thought lol
not being a fan of F&F is exactly what fans of F&F are... unless you were a honda boi with lights and seat covers.
Where did you get Ls droid from?
LS-Droid.com
@@TheDrivewayEngineer ok, thx
Those wall worts are shitt, Get a regulated power supply. Youll thank me later!
It's only been 5 years, so I'll probably thank you never 😂
Good I don't want your Thank You, I want your followers to know that many good ECU have been bricked by inferior wall warts! Or maybe no one looks at your videos? 🙀🙀
