@@LifeHackster Ring Spotlight Cam really overdue for an upgrade. Mr. LifeHackster, can you do like a top 10 wish list on the next one in your opinion? I would like to see brighter LEDs and dual 2.4/5ghz connection like the newer ones. Thank you for amazing videos.
does this ring motion detector keeps sensing 24/7 even if my system is disarmed? i see on my Ring app that even when my system is in disarmed mode, it still shows "Motion detected" when someone passes across it. I have motion alerta Off. How do I make it stop detecting when my system is disarmed?
Thank you for this review. I have recently invested in the Ring security system, and I would agree with you that it fulfills many needs for home security with the added benefit of limited integration with my home automation setup using Alexa. But what really broke the deal for me was the comparatively low cost of the professionally monitored service that Ring provides for a far cheaper monthly fee than was charged by my former security company. The savings practically covered the cost of the Ring equipment itself. Being a company now owned by Amazon, I should think that Ring would be expected to have the financial backing to develop even more and better products in the future. I expect that Ring will be in this business for the long haul.
I was seriously considering Eufy for outside cameras and doorbell, but decided this morning to go with Ring (for alarm security too) based on watching many of your videos. Your reviews are the best because of your experience with the products and your side-by-side comparisons.
I have been using ring alarm and door bell for almost 4 years. I pay $100 a year, I am satisfied with it. I just added a spotlight cam for my yard, it works great too. 2 of my friends got the door bell pro and alarm based on my referral. I was almost locked into a 65 dollars monthly 5 year contract (excluding equipment charges) with a major security company before I researched ring and went for it. Their monitoring system is top notch based on my experience.
I got the ring floodlight cam after using the maximus and momentum floodlights. It is by far the best at detecting motion and motion notifications. The others had false motion detection like leaves blowing in the wind and often missed actual events. It would be nice it if had higher resolution to easily read license plates and better sound like the eufy, but overall it is a better ecosystem.
I have the Ring system thanks to your videos. I agree with everything you said here. I recommend the solar panels, my stick up cameras are all still at 100%. Outside the house in my back yard, I have an auto mover with a eufy c2 on the top to patrol my back yard day and night while mowing the lawn! Having a mobile security camera is a big plus on the top of conventional security system! One more thing Ring should add to the alarm system is additional loud siren unit . Another great review! I have other cams but Ring by far, I have the most cams. I love the unlimited cams for $100 per year. My favorite is the floodlight cams, so indiscreet that most people don't recognize it from a regular floodlight. So glad you made this video! One of the best thing that I did was switched to the Ring Alarm...saved me 50 bucks a month plus the cloud recording on all my Ring cameras are basically free.

I needed an extra camera recently and I was undecided between getting the Wyze cam or the Ring indoor cam. Luckily you made a video review, thank you. I ended up getting the indoor cam even though it cost twice as much as the Wyze V2, because of the $10/month subscription it made more sense long term to stick with Ring, and have everything in the same app.
I installed Ring about three weeks ago in my small apartment. Only needed the door sensor for the main door, and also installed the Ring indoor cam to monitor the door (so that I can check in and turn on/off the siren if needed). These two work great together in the app. I wouldn't install a motion sensor without the camera, as I would have no idea if a motion-triggered alarm is real or false when not at home. Could make for some angy neighbours in an apartment block. Also linked the camera's motion sensor to my Hue lights (via the IFTTT app) - this works great for me to just turn on the lights when I get back home, and also as a "silent alarm" as it turns on the lights in my bedroom if motion is detected, in addition to the main alarm. Very happy with the overall setup at a reasonable price. Can't think of anything that is missing. The only minor issue for me is that it uses the same "count-down" sound and red colour-scheme on the keypad for both entry- and exit activation. Or can this be changed? This lead to situations where I thought I activated "at home" alarm countdown, but it was still counting down on the entry alarm which I didn't deactivate first. I actually like the sound of AlexA more than Alexa. It'll be great if you can make a video that showing a day in life of how the RING system works. I'm planning to install one set in our apartment. I would like to know exactly how it works day in and day out, so I can teach my elderly mom how to use it.
Hi LifeHackster, love your videos! I am using the ring alarm to monitor my house and currently paying $100 a year, do you recommend me to buy the ring doorbell and ring floodlight cameras for extra security? Ring products are overpriced compare to other brands. What about Wyze cams for outdoor monitoring?
@LifeHackster Where did you get that window mount @ 2:17? Does it hold up well? Can that stick up cam be set up to be set off when the Ring Solar Pathlights detect motion? Thanks!
@@SaifTheKnife so did you end up trying out ring or still with xfinity? And i’m basically forced to deal with xfinity in albuquerque so how has it worked for you if you don’t mind answering

You know LH, I was really wondering how long it would take you to post your home security system of choice. I'm considering buying a wireless ring spotlight camera for outside my house but one question I have is does it have any type of internal storage? Power outages are common where I live. I figure a battery powered or solar camera would do fine but how does it save the footage with the WIFI being down?
can you speak to the Amazon sidewalk for Ring and amazon devices and potential security concerns? I am looking at getting the ring system and doorbell and have disabled the sidewalk feature on my alexa app.
Yet another useful and interesting video from you. I know you'll get some naysayers, but for a lot of folks Ring just works. I also have a Ring system and love the Alexa integration for informational things as well as for security. For example, I like having Alexa announce and change the color in a couple of lights when the garage door opens. In my case, it either means Mom needs help with the groceries or fix Mom a drink as she's home. I put a Ring door switch on the garage door and for informational purposes find it my reliable than my MyQ system. You can't beat the camera/monitoring service price either if you have several cameras and their security system. Oh, I have plenty of Google stuff, too, but like the Ring for security and Alexa integration.
This video is great! Confirmed for me that Ring is not for me! I just don't care about the features that made you stay because I am in the HomeKit ecosystem. So, the subscription fee is the dealbreaker for me. Will stick to Eufy for indoor and POE wired for outside.
Hey! nice video. Do you have any recommendation for an outdoor wifi Siren that works with Alexa? I want to avoid buying any hub. I already have eufy but they do not have outdoor siren.
You’re the reason I bought the Ring Wireless Doorbell and it works great. I’m now thinking of adding the Ring Floodlight Cams but can they be mounted under the eaves of the roof instead of being mounted flat on the side of the house? Thanks!
Yes, they can but Ring doesn't recommend it.. the camera unit will also have a limited tilt up range but if you install it 8-10 feet high, you will still have a good field of view.
@@LifeHackster Hi LifeHackster, I just added to my Ring camera system. I needed to replace my Arlos that I’ve had for several years but are now dying out on me. I think Ring has surpassed Arlo in both quality and costs. Your reviews are much appreciated. Thanks!

Your opinion , camera to use under porch ? I have two ring products , and was thinking of getting the ring stick up , looking for something not wired any suggestions
Thank you for all the reviews. I have spent a lot of time now opn your channel and I am going to use the ring products because of your reviews. I do have a wifi question. I am using a netgear R7000 router. And do need a wifi extender to reach the driveway cameras. I am considering the upgrade to the eero pro with a beacon, vs the old router with a new netgear ac1900 extender. One of your videos commented about a extender cutting the speed down. My spot is save money and upgrade the netgear, or all in with eero pro. Thanks
Thank you for your video and expertise, as a renter all I need is two camera . I saw your Reolink review and was wondering what you think about Lorex? CCTV NVR is my pick, thanks.

Very nice a video comparison because I am currently in the market to explore the different option and bring however I wish you can explain more about the retrofit because I have a quite a few windows and plus doors in the house
Ring Spotlight Cam really overdue for an upgrade. Mr. LifeHackster, can you do like a top 10 wish list on the next one in your opinion? I would like to see brighter LEDs and dual 2.4/5ghz connection like the newer ones. Thank you for amazing videos.
Hey Lifehacker, I been watching your videos.. I was thinking about Doing a Eufy Doorbell and Eufy Floodlight Cam [btw can I install the Eufy Floodlight cam on my ceiling or eaves as opposed to on the side of the house?] and Ring security System? Does that make sense.. I have Alexas too. I just felt like Eufy cameras were a little better but im tryna decide are they that much better to actually deal with two apps, i.e. Eufy for cameras and ring for alarm system or is the cam differences minimum and its better to have everything under Ring umbrella ?
You can also set the Ring floodlight for ceiling install but the camera will just look stooped down..field of view is still good especially is you install it on higher ceilings...but both apps and systems would be ok and actually a good thing not to be dependent on 1 system.
Ring is the more cohesive system when compared to other products with camera and security systems. The cameras don’t have 24/7 recording and the quality of Nest but the security system makes up for it. Plus Ring is the only system I know of that records two-way audio. The shortfall is Ring does not have a glass sensor otherwise it would be a complete system. Nest has great quality and a competitive cloud subscription. However you pay a price for the quality and high data usage. I’m not a huge fan of their security system. Eufy is the best bang for buck if you don’t need 24/7 recording. The base station to camera signal exceeds WIFI distance and records locally. You have cloud subscription as an option for $100/yr if the base station is damaged or stolen. If set properly your Eufy cameras can replace an entire home security system. My research and usage experience has Nest vs. Ring and Arlo vs. Eufy. Your security/camera ecosystem will depend on budget, usage and what you’re looking to get out of the product. You can always pair up multiple systems so you get the best of both worlds. Maybe have a 4K NVR system for 24/7 surveillance but a cloud camera system for accurate push notifications and disaster recovery purposes.
Thanks for the video! I am thinking about getting the ring alarm and cameras + alexa home automation after comparing that with nest +google home (which is too $$$). So speaking of security you have ring cameras+ POE camera system? Is that necessary for normal household (weak wifi?) or just a backup system for you?
@LifeHackster Great video as always. The only other comparable ecosystem is Nest. Google Assistant is the best assistant/hands free service out there. What makes Ring so much better than Nest? I have a Ring Floodlight because it's the best floodlight cam. But my experience with Nest is that the overall quality of the video is just so much better than Ring. Ring video looks like it's shot with a potato camera or something. Google Nest Hub and Nest Hello to me make it so much nicer. Also they have facial recognition which works really well to announce a specific person's name throughout the home. The notifications on Android are instant; on iOS there is small delay. An idea for a future video would be a follow up video comparing the two eco-systems. Thanks again for your videos.
The only issue I have with Nest is the notifications...ring has the fastest notification and within a minute cool off..the nest hello I think still has the 5 minute cool off..there are not a lot of nest cameras also plus their alarm system is more expensive.
@@LifeHackster I primarily use Android and Android notifications are instant. I've never had problems with the cool off for Nest Hello. To me, it's about 1-2 minutes. But yes, the alarm system is more expensive and the monitoring is more expensive as well. But I just find the quality of their cameras to be much better than Ring. You will pay a premium but to some it may be worth it.
Lifehackster, I have been watching your videos for the longest time. I am overloaded on your video results. My question please. We have ring, I need to ad a few outdoor cams. I do t feel like having an electrician run a bunch of outlets, new home, flood zone = headaches. What is the best wirless one to use please, and add it to my existing ring system. I want to get my husband a security camera set for the holidays and need at least 3 possibly 4 cameras to do my whole house, outside, 3 doors & 1 garage with night time photos as well after being robbed while I slept. Does ring need WiFi & is it a good system to use to monitor the home while we're also away? Thank you. Any suggestions for set ups and your opinion is appreciated.
Does Ring ever do a Black Friday sale on their site? My purchase will be for $2k and don't want to buy piecemeal with a lot of online retailers. I plan to take advantage of Ring's Protect Plus 10% discount but was hoping for more. Thank you.
Great videos thank you! I have a question: would the ring alarm system keep streaming the video from a battery camera if the main internet is down and you have to go through 4G (with the plus suscription)?
Is there any PoE security camera that store data on the cloud instead a physical hard drive? I like the Ring instant notification and feedback. The issue is that my WiFi connection is poor at the front door or the back door. That why using PoE will help with the connectivity. Thanks.
Hello! Would like to ask u, since your last review of the ring peephole doorbell, has it been improved and fixed the issues u noticed. Thanks a lot for your kind help!
I bought 9 eufy 2c cameras a month ago. In your video you had a eerie system for your cameras. Sometimes my cameras don't respond right away mostly the ones further from the base. Will that eerie system give me a quicker response so I can see my cameras.
Dear lifehacker- can you tell me how I can set up the following skills from my Ring pro2 door camera to auto show on my echo show screens when the door bell or motion is activated And Is it possible to connect my ring pro2 door bell to my amazon fire HD tv stick so it can show images from my front door on my tv ? Great channel and thanks for the reviews
There are no toggle switch on Alexa and once you connect and integrate your device, it is automatic that it will show the live view when the doorbell button is pressed. As to motion, there is no option on that yet. I haven't tested the fire stick.. I need to test it out... thanks.
LifeHackster hi thanks for the reply - I’m not sure ( I’m unfortunately not that well informed tech wise ) why buy all 3 of me echo shows don’t show any images automatically upon the door bell being pressed - il have to try and research what’s going wrong . The Amazon fire Tv stick would be a great one to get working with our Ring system - it works if I use the fire tv remote via the built in Alexa function but the tv doesn’t show anything automatically- it would be much better if this was autonomous Also if possible what’s the best mesh WiFi currently ? Thanks for the videos 👍
Question. We have a ring alarm and would like an outdoor siren or better yet a ring battery powered outdoor cam with siren. My question is if my ring alarm gets trigger for example a break in at rear window, will the siren on the indoor base station sound as well as the siren on the outdoor battery cam????
@@LifeHackster thanks I’ll take your word for it. I asked ring on one of their RUclips install videos for battery cam and they said no. It’s probably a random person who doesn’t really know. Thanks.
What's the best battery wireless system? I currently have ring 2 wireless doorbell, and it has severe connection issues, even when the router is on the other side of the door
I use the ring security system (door/window sensors, motion sensors, 24/7 monitoring) because it’s a lot less per month than ADT, SimpliSafe, etc. BUT I DO NOT use their cameras. Waaay to overpriced and not as good as other options. I use $20 EZVIZ cameras for indoor and backyard. I use fully wireless $89 Reolink Argus 2 for front door. Works great!!! And saves tons of money.
EZVIZ and Argus works too.. I liked Ring Floodlight cam and their Spotlight Cam mount though because it just replaced my existing security lights..and it is a cleaner install.
Great vid thanks. Laughed at your pronunciation of ‘Alexa’ as Alex-a though (might be the Filo accent / background I’m picking up on?). But great insight, analysis and opinion.
I have enjoyed your review videos on the Ring Security and have found them very helpful. I know that most Vivint products will not be compatible with Ring. Do you know if Ring's retrofit product would would with Vivint's door sensors? I would think that the Ring system would work with my Carbon Monoxide detector and kwikset door lock and keypad.
Hey can you tell me your set up please? I'm thinking of getting the reolink nvr system but my wife is not satisfied due to it coming without a doorbell or arm and disarm feature . But I see you in your video you both integrated to work with ring system. Can you please explain sir?
Do you have any affiliation /sponsorship from Ring or is this your unbiased opinion? I can see if you are all in that subscription fee is cheap especially with the alarm. For someone who doesn't want the alarm system it can get expensive. If you could only have one ring camera which would it be? I like the look of the spotlight cam by your back door. That might be the one I try. The snapshots between motion is a really great idea.
No affiliation...most of my Ring cameras I paid on my own ...wired cameras like their spotlight cam wired or mount versions and their floodlight and the ring pro doorbell is a good setup.
Another good review there Mr lifehackster. I have the same thoughts about my ring system - particularly the low price annual subscription service is just unrivaled. Agree many other cams out there are better but as a full comprehensive system it's very hard to beat ring price/performance.
I have 16 Rings cameras around my house and I have two Rings home alarm ‼️ and Rings membership is only $100 per year. BTW, Rings membership covers unlimited cams not like some others they cover PER cam
@lifehackster - The tablet you used in your hallway to have all the cameras up is really cool. I've been trying to do something like that. What tablet/app did you use to get the tablet to work like that? Thanks!

I actually like the sound of AlexA more than Alexa.
It'll be great if you can make a video that showing a day in life of how the RING system works. I'm planning to install one set in our apartment. I would like to know exactly how it works day in and day out, so I can teach my elderly mom how to use it.
Thank you and that’s a great video idea..I’ll add it to my video topic list.
Thanks!
Thank you for your review. It has inspired me to make the switch to ring as soon as my contract ends with XFINITY.
Fantastic!
Does xfinity offer security cameras services???
@@Shotgun_Only They do.
@@SaifTheKnife so did you end up trying out ring or still with xfinity? And i’m basically forced to deal with xfinity in albuquerque so how has it worked for you if you don’t mind answering
@@Shotgun_Only: My contract ends in a few more months so I'm going to tough it out. It's good but not as good as Ring. Xfinity is just way too overpriced.
You know LH, I was really wondering how long it would take you to post your home security system of choice. As I have mentioned before, I especially like the details that you go into when explaining either the superiority or inferiority of a product that line. High Applause to you, for helping me make up my mind which one to install and WHY. 🎤🌍👑💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🎤💥🇺🇸🇺🇸🎯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌍
:) Since I started this channel, I've always used Ring cameras outside my home..
I'm considering buying a wireless ring spotlight camera for outside my house but one question I have is does it have any type of internal storage? Power outages are common where I live. I figure a battery powered or solar camera would do fine but how does it save the footage with the WIFI being down?
@@sunsideaviation8637 I thought eufy has an internal storage sd slot 4g of memory. u don't need the base for the floodlight.
can you speak to the Amazon sidewalk for Ring and amazon devices and potential security concerns?
LifeHackster Thanks!
@@LifeHackster Hi LifeHackster, I just added to my Ring camera system. I needed to replace my Arlos that I’ve had for several years but are now dying out on me. I think Ring has surpassed Arlo in both quality and costs. Your reviews are much appreciated. Thanks!
They were the pioneers of video doorbells
I agree..
Would you still recommend ring cameras over others like eufy in this day?
I have Google nest now but thinking about switching I do like the Google hub though does it integrate with ring as well just like Alexa does
Hello thank you this was very helpful!!! Can I use my ADT sensor’s with the ring alarm system I heard they had a brief partnership and you could do so, they are not hard hired though, my ADT alarm is 3 years old. Thanks 🙏🏿
I also went for ring due to your reviews
Man I love ring u the reason I just purchased the floodlight camera ❤️
Thank you for making this video I love ring
Thank you.
After watching several of your reviews I've got a ring plan and alarm, also 6 cams. Working fine so far. Please keep the vids coming.
Is it okay if you do a video of the Ring doorbell 3 plus vs arlo doorbell
I have to add it on the video idea list.. thanks.. we will see..
I have a ring alarm, 2 spotlight cams, 2 ring floodlight cam, 2 ring doorbells, a stick up cam, 3 echo shows and 10 echo dots and we love ring! And alexa
You have more Ring cameras than me :)
Haha
Thanks man, I went with Ring
Like nest video quality but siren and faster notification on ring.
I dont sure witch one to choose any help?
Another awesome video. Thank You Lifehackster for keeping us in the loop.
Thank you..
Your video was very helpful thank you very much!
Another great video! Ring is the best.
Thank you.
My PoE is a backup and if I want more detailed footage...my ring cameras are mostly for accurate and fast notifications. Thank you.
Yes they need to add intergration that when ring alarm goes off the camera siren goes off also
Yes..they need to add this feature in..
What is that monitor NVR system you have? Is that separate from ring?
do you think a rssi signal of 52-55 is bad? Was thinking of trying to run a wire to a new access point near the device
No..that is still pretty good.
Hi, great video. I timeline 5.07, what is the name of that monitor you got? Thanks
Thank you for your time to me. Glen in New Jersey.
Thank you.
Yes, they do..mostly during Amazon Primeday..which is delayed this year and during the Holidays...mostly even before Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Great videos thank you! I have a question: would the ring alarm system keep streaming the video from a battery camera if the main internet is down and you have to go through 4G (with the plus suscription)?
Unfortunately i am not able to use a wired system where I live...which battery powered system would you recommend?.....great video reviews!
I have the eeros too and my wifi life has never been better. I suggest eero if you're having signal issues
Yes..I have no issues with the eeros..
What do you think of blink ?
Awesome videos! I am subscribed now!
Do you like the Pathlights?
How do you have your cameras set up on that RV screen in your home? Do you have a video on this or could you explain how it’s done? Thanks!
Dear lifehacker- can you tell me how I can set up the following skills from my Ring pro2 door camera to auto show on my echo show screens when the door bell or motion is activated
And
Is it possible to connect my ring pro2 door bell to my amazon fire HD tv stick so it can show images from my front door on my tv ?
Great channel and thanks for the reviews
There are no toggle switch on Alexa and once you connect and integrate your device, it is automatic that it will show the live view when the doorbell button is pressed. As to motion, there is no option on that yet. I haven't tested the fire stick.. I need to test it out... thanks.
LifeHackster hi thanks for the reply - I’m not sure ( I’m unfortunately not that well informed tech wise ) why buy all 3 of me echo shows don’t show any images automatically upon the door bell being pressed - il have to try and research what’s going wrong .
The Amazon fire Tv stick would be a great one to get working with our Ring system - it works if I use the fire tv remote via the built in Alexa function but the tv doesn’t show anything automatically- it would be much better if this was autonomous
Also if possible what’s the best mesh WiFi currently ?
Thanks for the videos 👍
What wireless system would you recommend, I just want to install 3-4 cameras with WIFI. Also I would want to the app to work on my phone and computer.
Question. We have a ring alarm and would like an outdoor siren or better yet a ring battery powered outdoor cam with siren. My question is if my ring alarm gets trigger for example a break in at rear window, will the siren on the indoor base station sound as well as the siren on the outdoor battery cam????
Yes, you can set your ring cameras that have a siren to go off when the alarm goes off. This has been added in an update a few months ago.
@@LifeHackster thanks I’ll take your word for it. I asked ring on one of their RUclips install videos for battery cam and they said no. It’s probably a random person who doesn’t really know. Thanks.
@@elchango562 I mentioned and showed it here - ruclips.net/video/_mjL0HtTcIg/видео.html
Thanks.
Does the wireless cameras show in color?
I think it is the bollard smart spotlight not sure if I spelled it right. Thanks and love your Channel
Sorry.. not Bollard.. thanks.
Great vid thanks. Laughed at your pronunciation of ‘Alexa’ as Alex-a though (might be the Filo accent / background I’m picking up on?). But great insight, analysis and opinion.
Love your videos you do a great job.
Thank you.
I'm always worried about rings lack of 24/7 recording unfortunately. Have you had any issues with them? Great videos 👍. Love them!
What do you think of the SimpliSafe battery camera system ?
I have enjoyed your review videos on the Ring Security and have found them very helpful. I know that most Vivint products will not be compatible with Ring. Do you know if Ring's retrofit product would would with Vivint's door sensors? I would think that the Ring system would work with my Carbon Monoxide detector and kwikset door lock and keypad.
Hi I need to know if is posible to add a exterior siren to my RING security system?
Thanks
Hey can you tell me your set up please? I'm thinking of getting the reolink nvr system but my wife is not satisfied due to it coming without a doorbell or arm and disarm feature . But I see you in your video you both integrated to work with ring system. Can you please explain sir?
Your right on with doing away with a alarm company, more and more people are getting away from ADT .
Yes...switching to Ring Alarm saved me 50 bucks a month on our utilities plus the cloud recording on all my Ring cameras are now basically free...
Do these cameras resist rain?
I have 16 Rings cameras around my house and I have two Rings home alarm ‼️ and Rings membership is only $100 per year. BTW, Rings membership covers unlimited cams not like some others they cover PER cam
@lifehackster - The tablet you used in your hallway to have all the cameras up is really cool. I've been trying to do something like that. What tablet/app did you use to get the tablet to work like that? Thanks!
Does the flood light cam record in color at night ?
Yes.
👍
