Delta Air Lines To Pull Los Angeles-London Heathrow Route From May

- Delta Air Lines will suspend its service between Los Angeles International Airport and London Heathrow effective May 6th. The 10-hour flight has been operated in recent times by an Airbus A330-900neo. So why would the airline stop offering service on such a popular route?

That’s fine I’ll just fly on the BA A380
How god is it?
Virgin LAX-LHR is great, they both did the same at SEA where they swapped who's metal ran the route. You get the same flying club or skymiles status benefits and club access, etc.
Portland to Narita. Professionals: Every one. Thank you, Delta.
Smart move... repositioning competitive perspective... all the best to Delta from Romania 🤗
The only good thing about this is that ATL-LHR gets the A330neo planes! The 767 service on this route has seen better days.
I was on this flight in January, my first long haul flight. I would say it was at about 20% of maximum capacity.
Me too! I flew it January 9.
Can you do the same for ex A333 BOG LAX route with Avianca now layover in SAL
It’s a shame and too bad. I like competition.
Part of the reason they shut it in the first place, plenty of competition already especially with the rise of Nordic airlines in past few years fares have been dirt cheap
I'm sad, I flew this route in January and March. The January flight was fairly empty but more full in March.
The Delta Will Use The Aircraft To Expand In Other Routes To Capture The Market And Virgin Atlantic Could Add More Services To LHR To LAX Further
Delta will shift their passengers to their subsidiary Virgin Atlantic, whom they own half of. Easier to just let Virgin Atlantic do it than Delta themselves.
virgin atlantic is owned by virgin group
Virgin group own 51% and Delta own 49% if I remember correctly.
I took this very flight in June 2023.
Just my personal experience, i wouldve loved to connect through NYC even though ir would've taken longer
yet life goes on 😀
Will certainly miss this!
Still do not know the logic in discontinuing this service. It’s profitable and popular, why?
It kinda says in the vid. Basically Delta’s expecting record transatlantic traffic soon, and will therefore need enough aircraft that can cope.
Sure, LAX-LHR and back is still profitable and popular, but with since Delta has the 49% stake in Virgin (who also flies between LAX and LHR) they are deciding to take advantage of Virgin’s assets to maintain the profits. Ie. Virgin will manage the LHR-LAX traffic on Delta’s behalf while they are proactively preparing their A330s (and other widebodies) for the transatlantic traffic.
If you're pulling it from May, when does it start again? "from" is half the statement; "to" or "until" is the other half.
Never😢
Probably never, unless they no longer need the additional flights to Atlanta.
Los Ange-leez?
Those in the know pronounce it that way. How are your eyes?
How is delta still the most profitable airline?
Maybe cause they choose not to fly empty seats. Just my guess.
U.S government bailouts.
Dunno probably one of those weird things where 50% of their profits acctually come from points, credit card alliances & partners etc.
U.S. government bailouts.
Fleet so old that it's likely depreciating negatively into profitability lol
I think it's a mistake that doubters left here.Heathrow or doesn't want to continue it anymore.A very big mistake because the airline is well liked in heathrow
Did you watch the video?
Honestly I could care less. 😂
Delta didnt really exit the route. They will simply have you fly on Virgin. To be honest I always prefered European carriers over Domestic one on this route, so no big deal.
I flew ATL - London with Virgin. It was great.
Hopefully they will return on the AMS-LAX Route probably not.
That route is already being served by fellow SkyTeam member KLM.
The point of sale will be stronger on the KLM side.
Hmmm so where is the demand?
Focusing on their strongholds is smart. They can easily tag along with VS and use all their other hubs instead
Meh, its alright, I live in Minnesota anyway
Hi 👋
The flight was going out full every day, so they are cancelling it because it is not showing any growth.
obviously is not profitable route for DELTA, if not...they don't leave it!
Who would choose to fly Delta if there are European alternatives?
gosh no.
E
most likely because they couldn't fill the seats

It is astonishing how desperate Delta is to route everybody in the world thru Atlanta. They behave like one of the Emirates airlines.
I won't fly DL just to avoid Georgia.
its okay ill just fly on virgin
And Delta will certainly thank you for flying Virgin!
Delta now flying into NZ.
Really. I don’t care to be honest
Weirdo. You clicked on this video to the comments to type that?
They will use BA instead.
Virgin Atlantic.
This service is very on and off
Who cares 🤷♂️
You did enough to click on the video.
Why did you click the video then. Why was it recommended to you. Obviously you care lol
@@georgegao1997 I watch all of them. Sometimes there is something good 🤷♂️
United will fly twice daily from LAX
Delta rubbish anyway would never fly with them ever
And why is that?
Two highly overrated cities.
You are loyal to Gary, Indiana aren't you.
