What might be worth testing is the PS4 version of Elden Ring with the PS5 pro boost. See if that improves the graphics whilst keeping the constant 60fps of the PS4 version.
I didn't really notice FPS drops on the base PS5 when I played through the base game of Elden Ring earlier this year via the PS4 version. But I did notice FPS drops as soon as I got to the first Site of Grace in the expansion. Booted the PS4 version up on my PS5 Pro and the same FPS drops were occurring in that area.
Ben you're doing a fantastic job with all your PS5 Pro videos. I've been quite disappointed with Digital Foundry's coverage post PS5 Pro's launch. All they seem to do is bring in PC elitists and do their comparisons by magnifying 100x when comparing PS5 Pro vs PC while what we want to see is just how good is PS5 Pro performing against stock PS5.
I really hoped the Pro would fix the texture pop in. That’s more distracting than the FPS for me. Grass loads in like 2 feet in front of you sometimes.
That’s just the lower draw distance and would have to be fixed in the game settings with a dev patch. I hope they do patch it with the PS6 at least to really pump everything up. Or I guess if Sony ends up with Kadokawa and FromSoft it definitely will.
I Think when u play EldenSE if u use Quality mode the VRR should be OFF not ON. Drops are much more noticeable. And i start searching and Eurogamer found it also: „Per Eurogamer, running Elden Ring on quality mode, which favors graphical fidelity over frame rate, will occasionally hit 60 FPS, but it'll mostly stay in the 50s, with dips into the 40s during particularly demanding scenes. It's worth noting that the PS5's VRR support at 60Hz doesn't work below 48 FPS, so these dips will be particularly noticeable if you're running VRR”
@iluvmusicqwe they did for dark souls 3 and sekiro. Dark souls 3 came out before the ps4 pro but they probably had a pro dev kit. Elden ring was two years ago so we can only hope that they add a pro patch. I'm sure that they would do it if sony offers help and assistance with the optimization. Thats the ideal outcome anyway.
Overall the PS5 Pro feels like a sizable upgrade. Not a PS4 to PS5 upgrade. But a legitimate upgrade. More games need to be patched, but it’s nice. I wish the big sites weren’t so negative about it. Feels dishonest. Then again they’ll pretend like Xbox had a good year so maybe Sony just needs to advertise at IGN more or have Herman give an interview to Kinda Funny.
Had to start my 80 hour play (defeated radahn) through again, for some reason my clouds weren't saving and when I went to pro it had only saved my first 20 hours. So started again on quality mode on pro it definitely looks sharper than base. RT mode lags a bit so turned that off. But this game is so much fun !! Anyone who finds demon souls impossible, try this it's great !!
No problem buddy! There is no silly questions here! RT mode is raytracing mode. It has more accurate light simulations in games. Not a big addition at all really to elden ring. But it does impact performance quite a bit!
No idea how people can polay this in anything less than 60fps. Even on the pro Quality mode is still way too choppy. I think certain displays handle it better. Moving the camera at all still looks like ass in quality mode, performace mode still is better and is sharper than base Ps5 do that definitely the way to go.
Honestly the RT quality on elden ring is so mediocre be it on console or PC I'd just disable it personally. Quality vs performance are so close though in frame rate I'd probably favor quality in it's unpatched state. Have they stated any intent to patch elden ring?
Yeah agreed! quality is great now for VRR displays, and performance for people who don't! thats kind of the outcome! no, no patch sadly! I doubt there will be! from soft just don't seem to want to fix things. even the PC version still is a stutter mess years after! realy shame!
I played 200 hours of Elden Ring on ps5. When I tried it on my ps5 pro I was surprised at how much better it looked
How much? I played it on ps5 for months and it was about 50fps at performance
I heard it runs average around 1512p on ps5 in performance mode and 2040p average on ps5 pro performance mode.
Looks much better in quality mode especially

Seconding this. But also wanted to add that the PS4 version drops frames quite a bit in some fights and dungeons.

I want ps5 pro ultra where we get 60fps in max settings with rt. 900-1000bucks

seems crazy to me that there isnt a pro patch yet - hope its coming soon
Probably never will happen. They're done with this game after SOE
Fromsoftware doesn't usually do that type of thing

So performance mode is still the best way to play if you have vrr
All up to developers. This could easily hit consistent 120fps at 2k
Elden Ring same as Alan Wake are just bad examples for pogramming
there is mods to unlock it on pc

Demon’s Souls is by far the easiest game of all the Souls/Soulslike
@dc8643 I disagree. The run backs are horrendous. The bosses are easier granted
Returnal. I been wanting someone to conver returnal! Playstation Pro! How it compares to base ps5
@@anamositykilla2190 will do this 100%
If only Sony would have implemented a 40hz VRR window floor on the pa5… 🙄
Sorry for my ignorance. What is RT? And how does it affect the game?

@ Thank you good sir!
Can u test out Silent Hill 2?
Silent Hill 2 hasn't been enhanced for the ps5 pro.. It's exactly the same as the original console.
Not patched yet sadly!!
@MajorBen I hope the patch is soon. Confusing how it's listed as Pro Enhanced on the Store
@ agreed! Very annoying!
Yea I get the shimmering on this.
Elden Ring is Amazing game
The best
Quality RT is a great example how easy to destroy a game. After that you’re thinking my GPU is old , I need a new GPU!
@@justalex4571 yeah really pushes hardware fast! Would love to see a patch for this game!
I am hoping you show Warframe soon😊
Added this to the list!

I have vrr and it seems smooth to me in that mode. I havent had the chance to go to an intense area though.
@@Luke973T its smooth until you go somewhere intense. I think performance mode looks just about as sharp and its locked at nearly 60

My guy started the video off with a spoiler… I just bought this for Black Friday and now I know for sure, I will have to “burn the erd tree” 🤦🏾♂️
i would never use the xbox ps5 or ps5 pro for RT games what is that fps wow it looks arse my pc smokes this game even with RT on
😂
