Then after the Oz Government sunk all the dough into trying to keep auto production viable the yanks pulled the rug from under the industry, because they controlled and manipulated our industry too much. Of course there were other factors but that seems to be the crux of it. Didnt seem to be much wrong with the product, it just needed exposure to the markets which it was denied. Having owned an F6 310 for almost 7 years, it still makes me smile every time I drive it. The auto is a better/faster car, as there is effectively no turbo lag - for 80km/hr to 120km/hr acceleration (for overtaking), the auto takes 2.7 seconds compared to 3.1 seconds for the manual. When my friends & family have driven it, the most common comment was "fuck" or fuck me". It is probably the best all purpose family car & when mum & the kids aren't in the car, daddy can have serious fun.

Ford couldn't export these to the USA, because the Auto Workers Union of America would not stand for it. The Falcon was tipped to be the next Police car for many U.S. Police departments. Due to rear wheel drive and four doors. Auto Worker's Union said no way.
The most annoying thing is that Ford Australia wanted to sell these in the US and other countries but the bigwigs from Ford USA and Europe didn't want it as they reckoned that there was no market for these in the US or Europe so sorry we aren't interested and so came the slow and inevitable end of Ford Australia and our legendary muscle cars.

I agree. I’m 6’6” and could hardly fit comfortably in my VE Commodore. Then I looked at an FG XR6 and was amazed by how ergonomic the drivers seat is. The centre console sits at the perfect height to rest your arm on, and the seat is adjustable to make it comfortable for both tall and short people. I don’t think I’ll ever go away from Falcon again now.
I get wheel spin and sideways at 100 in my whipple s/c ba gt. Scares the shit out of me. I actually prefer to drive my sedate g220 60% of the time. I must be getting old.
Geez your authentic reaction to it's performance has me sold on the manual version now. I can imagine the sheer satisfaction of using it in this car. I think the DOHC. VCT and four valves per cylinder in a huge inline six complimented with forced induction makes for the magic formula.
Great video Ross. Have one of the last F6’s (May 2014) with the factory optioned 6/4 Brembo package. She’s black and the bigger discs/callipers really do set her off visually - it’s the only reason I optioned them, for looks😍. I optioned her with the ZF 6 speed - the auto behind this is just a match made in heaven. I still came close though to ordering the manual for everything a manual represents. I’ve got a family and as you said it does everything - looks better when she’s loaded with the family as it dumps her stance😆Grew up on 6’s and just love her. I did put a deposit down on a FGX Sprint 6 but just couldn’t let my F6 go, I just love the look of them! Will have her a long time I hope, still have my license which is a bonus👍👍 Great Aussie muscle - cheers
Ross Reviews cheers Ross, yeah the auto has 3 modes. Normal drive mode, then a ‘performance’ auto mode - with this you just knock the stick to the left and she’s in performance auto mode, then it’s just a shift up and down to go into manual. It’s crazy smooth and super fast shifting as the ZF’s are known for - still love the manual as mentioned. When the Typhoon hit the streets nothing could touch the turbo Barra from either the Ford or Holden camp, nothing. The F6 has cemented it’s place into the history books as legendary. Heading out to do some Christmas shopping in mine now🤘🤘
Glad to see an American appreciating what Australian engineers were able to develop out of the original straight 6 from the original Ford falcon of 1963. Same engine except each iteratively built upon to achieve something very special indeed. Jeremy Clarkson from top gear, described it as the finest sports sedan under $100,000 available anywhere in the world. Shame Ford pulled the plug and shut down our talent for developing cars; because you cannot tell me that Australian build quality was anything other than of a high standard. If Ford has stood behind it, released the model in the U.S. market with strong marketing; it would have clashed with mustang sales. Quite possibly outsold it, certainly with the potential for additional development of the Barra engine. ( named for a famous Australian fresh water fish. ) So that is my theory behind the factory closures in truth. It would have been a mustang killer in 2019. The British could get it easily enough. With the right hand drive also suitable for inroads into many Asian and African markets also..
People are using these engines in everything these days as they are that much of a brilliant engine. I have a 2.8 tonne Patrol with a fully built forged turbo barra and can be side to side with a golf r off the lights.

I had to have it lol..I now have a FGX XR8 tucked away. Both great cars, hopefully I can park another turbo next to it one day. These would have sold a plenty in the US had Ford America allowed it.
And the cops in America would use the Falcon instead of the Ford Taurus and Explorer but unfortunately that didn't happen. The Ford Falcon was supposed to replace the Crown Victoria but Ford USA decided to replace it with the Taurus and Explorer. The 2020 Explorer on the other hand could make the Mustang on the same platform and the Crown Vic could come back if consumers in America put more demand in sedans.

GM even sold the Monaro, the Commodore (as the Vauxhall VXR8) and the Maloo over here and they all sold relatively well over the span of about 14 years, granted nowhere near as much exist over here as the European competition but they were cheap as hell so every single one got sold therefore there was no excuse for ford not to sell them over here and generate some competition especially since they're selling the Mustang over here now as well.

Will have her a long time I hope, still have my license which is a bonus👍👍
Great Aussie muscle - cheers

Definitely. It'd cannibalise the fusion sport and the mustang almost certainly. Hopefully it comes back at some point.

Luke Robertson 100k on a barra isn't even run in yet. There's plenty under 30k.
Smo Kabong Lol your way of topic and not to mention preaching to the choir lol
Luke Robertson lol please explain how I'm off topic when your original comment was about the price of an F6, and i also literally commented about the price of an F6. Seems like the EXACT SAME topic to me, no?
Pretty good review with decent production value. It appears to me that you have skipped the awkward dodgy "Hi im on youtube (LOL)" phase completely. Its not a bad thing. You have earned my subscription and look forward to what cars you come up with next. Im a Barra Fanboy myself. I have owned a BF XR6-T and now own a 2012 G6E-T. If you get a chance, do some older aussie cars!
Thanks for your sub m8 every one helps! im always on the hunt for more Aussie cars! hoping 2019 will allow me to show all of you guys more of them :)
I would like one of this and export it to my country Kenya
k Muinde 100% one of the coolest cars ever to come outta Australia 🇦🇺🔥
@@RossReviewsau it will be very unique in Kenya coz I have never seen one there. Very good sleeper
got my first v8 this week. Already time for a cam package.
Nice work
16th sub, feels kinda strange.
Good content!
Cryptology thanks m8! New videos coming next week👍
Loved that little bit of sex at the end!
I got an FG2 XR6 and a BF2 XT station wagon. The station wagon my 12th falcon and it can kick ass, why you want an F6 all the bloody same man
Time bomb.
i have a 2012 fg gs ross, with just a tune and air filter its putting out 365 kw also a n x force exhaust i'ts also a supercharged 5 litre v8 such a fun car, ausie ausie ausie oi oi oi.....
love it man! nice work
Up the mighty Barra
Fast forward a year and a bit and now.. you own one..👌💪🏻.. super stoked for you bro.. 🤙🏻❤️
Appreciate it!! im so happy hahah
Barra, The FGX Sprinter eats the F6 and most other cars on the road
Love my V8 Boss engines but the Barra is a killer engine and should have been used in the Mustang instead of the 4cyl. BTW for our US friends these things make an easy 500kw+ with easy work.
Give em an FGX XR6 Sprint and fell that 👍😂😂😂😂
Please some one bring me a Sprinter!!! haha would love to test one out!!! cant believe it could be faster than that F6 :P
And 6. It does sick burnouts
blue eyes white dragon oh ya
And ford DUMPED the Aussie line of cars? to replace them with european crap? or the Mustang that most people can't afford. R.I.P. FPV
i agree that it seems they almost deliberately got rid of the F6 right when they started to push mustangs into the country.. sad really this car was special and i guess all good things come to an end :(
Can't believe he left the dash mat on.
Nice car by the way!
lol why not haha
@@RossReviewsau Hey Ross! Ha yea.....I guess I've never really liked the things. As long as you use a windscreen shade when parked in the sun you don't really need them.
Plus they hide the nice lines of the dashboard.
Great video by the way. My brother had a standard 2012 Falcon XR6....there's heaps of those around still and cheap as chips, but a very nice car. Our family have practically always had locally made Fords, many Falcons through the years.
Yes Australia is probably the only country outside the US that made anything like a muscle car, and it's a darn shame to see them go. In fact as you know we had our own whole car industry that catered only for us, amazingly with such a small population.
@@ecurb10 i gotta agree with you there bro.. australia prob was one of the only other places making muscle cars.. the us muscle car scene is starting to gain traction again in recent times and its to sad now that australia can't go along with them..
Burnouts on a Saturday Avo🇦🇺
you are right, i do want this FPV F6. it has all the desirable features a true sports sedan should have and its all very low key sleeper style. looks very unsuspecting to the untrained eye and thats how Ford usually does it very low key in my opinion. like the svt contour or mondeo's very unsuspecting sports cars that most people dont even know exists. and as always, the USA wont see this awesome ride like all the super cool cars.
they are literally one of my all time fav cars now haha such a shame they were never sold internationally
That’s my husband 😍🚗💨
;)
No it's mine
D C haha 🤫
Pre covid, was the worlds best value sports sedan. Probably still is despite the price hike.
100% mate and even still is a bargain at around 40-50k it’s a lot but the power and specialness they have is worth every penny
Straya!!!!
Stupid auto correct....
The carpet on the dash board is classy.
Too much talking, not enough stomping RS3s ;)
And another guy with a great taste in cars :)
😎 haha
