What do you think is the most common stereotype about Americans? Which country should we look at next?

In America people are really upbeat and straightforward at the same time. Sometimes they won’t care about sugarcoating things, sometimes they do it without a melodious intent. Some things are considered a bit rude in Europe while they’re OK in the US. Cultural differences.

Same. I have a theory that IF Scotland becomes independent, many people in Northern Ireland might want Northern Ireland to be apart of Scotland because Northern Ireland was unofficially colonized by Scottish Lowlanders. Scots are protestant and Irish are Catholic so they never really mixed. Thus these Scottish Settlers are still present in Northern Ireland.

+Floofy Floody That's incorrect. Rock and Roll was the white man's attempt at bringing the black man's blues music to the white population of America. Since everything was so segregated then, white people wouldn't listen to blues music but obviously they liked it. Ask yourself: Why is Elvis the "King of Rock'n'Roll"? (Fun fact: Elvis isn't British).

Americans can be incredibly self-important. I mean, who do you think coined the phrase saying America is the best country on Earth? We did. Of course, not everyone is, especially in younger generations. I think this is because we haven’t fought a major war in a while. Legally, I believe that the last War that we fought was World War Two (everything after has been labeled a “conflict”), so the true patriotic fervor that follows a war doesn’t affect the younger people. Our grandparents were only children during the second world war, so it makes sense that, as the world is three generations removed from that war today, so, in general, we (younger people) look at our country through a more critical lens than our elders.

    • @playboishizz996

I could travel Europe and Asia for that too (I'm European myself), but a few things get in the way: money and languages. The US is a somewhat monolithic landmass where you can expect to be understood in English (thoug the latinos who served me in New York certainly didn't fit this expectation) while it's arguably cheaper to travel and you don't have to pay the banks for the privilege of using different currencies (wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't live in the UK which doesn't have Euros. There are basically 3 reasons Americans don't travel:
    1. We can't get enough days off from work.
    2. We're too far away from most of the world. Travel is very time-consuming.
    3. We are the most hated nation on earth; it is dangerous to be an American outside of the tourist areas.
I should also mention while Americans are ignorant about the world, a lot of us descend from immigrants so we tend to know about the countries relevant to our lives. For example, if your parents are Russian and speak to you in Russian, you do not necessarily know about India or African countries, but you might know about many things about Russia which most Americans don't.

MultiDEVILMAYCRY123 greed usually pertains to the desire to acquire or retain one's monetary wealth. Since taxes are people attempting to retain monetary wealth, one could construe this as greedy. However, what is more greedy is the government taking your hard-earned money because they can. Also, if the super rich are greedy, why do the top 1% of people pay 40% of the taxes? Seems to me like they are the least "greedy", because they already contribute much more than their fair share.

It was funny to me personally when the topic was first introduced in the video and it showed three stereotypes from other countries. In college, I "dated," in a loose sense of the word, a French girl. Let's just say that she was very...open with her body. As for the Canadian, I know one born and raised Canadian person. He looks almost exactly like the Canadian shown. Brownish red hair, beard, always wears flannel, and is beyond outdoorsy. We were just getting breakfast the other day and he showed me a picture of something he had built out of wood. Laughed my ass off when I saw the graphic!
As for American stereotypes, I really can't deny it. Just look at this username I made when I was kid for Christ's sake. My family has more guns than we do pairs of shoes. Several of my family members are severely overweight, my childhood best friend became addicted to painkillers, and most people I know do not have passports.
That being said, most of the people I associate with appreciate foreign food, music, languages, politics, and history. I do want to travel to other countries, but it is so damn expensive. Why spend so much to go to other countries right now when there is so much to do in my own country? I once went on a trip where I skied in the snowy mountains of North Carolina and then went to the warm beaches of southern Florida all within a week. There is an ever growing plethora of opportunities to explore and things to experience in the United States. I guess there are both perks and drawbacks to living in _one of_ the best countries in the world.

Johan hate speech is free speech because all speech is free speech, that's the very premise of it being free.
You may disagree with what someone has to say and in that case you ignore them and you'll be able to deconstruct their arguments if necessary; but the government should have no right to criminalise them for expressing what they think and feel.
This is a keystone of living within a democratic society, without this basic fundamental human right we would become like Russia, North Korea and China; The places where human rights are thrown out of the window and where communism has ravaged the people.

As an American I am far from a stereotype:
    1. I exercise and am relatively healthy
    2. I am not that patriotic and speak out against us being a flawed democracy
    3. I don't support guns on civilians
    4. I love music
    5. I don't like American football. I prefer soccer, tennis, baseball, and hockey.
    6. I am not unaware of what goes on in the world.

we're all loud and seem over confident to cover up the fact that we know things aren't the best right now. if you force yourself to be happy and optimistic all of the time you'll trick yourself into believing that it's true

I’m certainly proud to be an American! We have made contributions to society, worldwide, that allow “all of us” the privilege of even watching a video on the INTERNET. We were able to accomplish such things through the combined efforts/great minds of those that traveled here from all corners of the globe. This is the America that I believe in and strive for. Although things may be far from perfect now, I have hope for the future and it’s something many people here continue to fight for as well.
May tomorrow bring a brighter day to all.

Also you made none of those advancements so I don’t get how you can say it was America whereas it was an american person/ collection of American people

      Master Yoda...
Don’t call someone who is just expressing gratitude for their country “fatty”. Don’t just look at Americans the way they have been painted out to be by stereotypes. It’s annoying and unfair. This person, again, is just saying how much they appreciate their home and don’t deserve to be insulted or attacked by annoying commenters like you.
      Have a nice day.
