I very nicely let a gal know her video was sped up so fast that technique and detail were lost, holy snowflake did she give me what for, haven't watched her since. You are a joy to watch, you and Korin are tied at #1 for funniest! Can't wait to see what you turn those into!
Tammi, I'm so sorry she wasn't receptive to your comment; that's a shame and may have held her back a little bit. Thank you for the kind compliment! I love that you love hangin out with us! YAY! I can't wait to see what I do with them either. haha
Thank you so much for that. I really appreciate it. I try my beat to look at things from all angles whenever possible so I appreciate the rationale compliment so much. 😊
@@marypolancodesigns I want to second the rational comment!!! In a time when it seems humanity has forgotten how to get along, you provide sensible, rational advice. I wish the crafting community were larger... so large that we were the majority, not minority. Crafters are some of the kindest, supportive people out there. Hey, maybe we should make it a requirement for political positions! LOL
Loved the color and chat. I always enjoy your videos and your positivity. "No candle ever lost it's flame by lighting another candle", I love that - that should be made a stamp sentiment.
Thank you so much Margaux! I love love love that quote and will most likely make it a tshirt this weekend since I'll be crafting on this rainy day. lol I so appreciate your kind words!
I agree with everything you said, but I do want to add my own twist. Well actually, adding one's own twist or binging something different to the table is what I want to discuss for anyone who wants to start a cardmaking channel. I watch various artists for various reasons. I won't name them here, but there is one I watch for her coloring/watercoloring/colored pencils and creating scenes around stamps. That's what she's good at, but I don't care for her personality. Obviously, I don't watch her videos for her personality. There is another You Tuber who is also a great colorist, and while I do watch her videos to learn about crafting, I primarily watch her for her dynamic personality (that I love.) There's a male crafter I like who presents 10 cards he made from a kit; he doesn't show techniques too much, but describes what he does. He makes some great interactive cards, and he does make how-to videos for those. His biggest strength are the puns he incorporates into his cards. There's a younger crafter who is bubbly and uses emojis and fun stuff in her presentation. She doesn't necessarily make the highest quality cards, but she's willing to show her mistakes and her viewers learn that everyone has to start somewhere by watching her. She's got over 50 thousand subscribers, so she must be doing something right. There is another who teaches a very long "class" and shows a variety of options for using the same supplies. One week the topic might be water color pencils, and the next might be layering die cuts, and so on. She doesn't edit her videos at all, and, yet, she has over 75 Thousand subscribers. Is it annoying to watch her open and close bottles, or to cut down a piece of cardstock when it could be edited out? With many You Tubers I would say yes, but with her, I overlook the unedited stuff because I learn so much. Her subscribers are there to see multiple techniques for one product, but they are also there for her personality. There is another You Tuber that still has less than 1000 subscribers. I think I "found" her by watching one of your video blog hops, Mary. She makes the most amazing interactive cards, and that's why I watch every single video she makes. I watch Mary because she's willing to try new things on camera and I love her comparison videos. I would say those comparison videos are her niche; that is what first drew me in as a subscriber. I also like her straightforward approach, and I'm pretty sure she responds to most, if not all, of the comments on You Tube. Even though I know she responds to most everyone, it still makes me feel singled-out whenever she responds to one of my comments. So, my very long point for new You Tubers is: find a niche that makes people want to watch your videos. Use your strengths to make your videos stand out from the crowd. What is it, new You Tuber, that will make people choose you rather than the dozens of other cardmakers out there?
Laura, I love this post!! Thank you so much for sharing all of this. I agree so so much about bringing your best trait to whatever you do. I feel like when we are confident in at least knowing what that is, it transfers to our work. Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I appreciate you so much!!!
I can't even remember how or when I found your channel but I will say, your cheery, CARING, FRIENDLY, voice grabbed me immediately. I don't have crafty friends around me and I didn't realize I was "looking for a friend" to craft with. Your videos absolutely are all you, I can see your smile in your voice, you are a caring, kind to everyone, generous, giving, encourager, loving beautiful person. I have learned so much from you, not just crafting, life stuff, nonjudgement opinions, values, sharing life with us. Your channel is so much more than crafting! Now, I have learned a lot of easier less expensive ways to create with you. I have absolutely no desire to youtube but anyone out there that does have that desire, Mary put it out there with her heart and you in mind. Great sound advice. No ones flame burned out lighting another flame!! Beautiful!! After a long day and sometimes frustrating day, coming home and seeing Mary posted a video is like a friend calling knowing you had a rough day and needed some encouragement, a friendly voice and yes, a giggle or two!! Be yourself, you all have a gift , follow Mary and you will be inspired, encouraged, and cheered for along your entire journey! Great video Mary, the honesty of putting in the hard work, time involved, being professional but personable, awesome advice!! And Mary, your coloring is so pretty, love your color choices, I still struggle with that but probably because I don't plan my cards, I wing it all the time then have to find paper to flow. Hmmmmm maybe I should follow your advice about a youtube channel and do some research of my cardstock and pattern paper before I start to color!!! See, always learning from Mary on a different subject matter applicable in other areas!!! 👍👍💖
Pam, you are just so kind and thoughtful to say all of these things to me. You have inspired me back with everything you share and how you engage us. I so very much appreciate that. You keep the kind train moving with your encouragement all the time and I know you fill up my "thank tank" all the time. Big squeezy hugs and thank you!
Oh thank you so much Susan. You are so kind, and I do agree, we could use more kindness in the world! But you just shared kindness right here and I shall pay that forward. Big hugs!
I just uploaded my first card making video a few days ago.. it’s still “amateurish” but I just decided to just jump in and just do it.. Thank you so so much for this timely video. Your tips are so so helpful!! And your inspiring words :)
YAYYYY!!!! Congratulations to you! How exciting. I still keep my very first video up as a reminder to me of the courage it took me to post, the nerves I had, and the growth I've experienced. I'm so happy for you. Don't ever hesitate to reach out if you need anything. :)
Mary Polanco My main reason for starting my channel is that I just want to share my knowledge and to learn from others in the process. Your video is giving me the added courage to continue . Again, thank you!
I watched and listened to the whole video even though I have no interest or intention to have my hobby make money because I wanted to hear what you were going to say next....I believe you said some really important things in the nicest way I have ever heard. Great video!!
Mary, wonderful advice and truths for not only careers but for life in general. The only thing I would add as a watcher is to not get to full of yourself. Over the years I have watched great Artists become so full of themselves and believing that they are the only ones to watch---stay humble. It goes without saying how much I love your tutorials and of course those little bread nappers! Hugs and Blessings to you and your family.
Tricia thank you so much for this perspective. I hadn't thought about that but you are 100% right. Humility is another key to success. To lose your footing on this hear earth, is one of the most detrimental things to your own personal success.
Mary, your strength is definitely your positive energy and great personality! I don’t use the same supplies as you - I mostly use Stampin Up - BUT I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I learn about other products and techniques that I wouldn’t learn if I only watched people use SU products. You are a pleasure to listen to and learn from. Thanks! 😀
Mary, thank you so much for this! I really do appreciate it. I too, reach outside the scope of cardmaking on YT and learn from watercolorists and painters; there's so much talent out there!
Mary Polanco 😃 There is an abundance of talent! I can fall down the rabbit hole of watching crafty/artsy videos very easily! We’re having a snow day today, so that’s where I’ll be.
Mary, I finished watching your video then went over to watch A Call for Courage and I must say that you're my RUclips angel. The messages I heard from both you and Brene Brown really struck a cord with me. I really needed to hear them especially with the things I've been experiencing in my life lately. Thank you.
Oh his just warns my heart more than you know. I thought, if just one person watched that video I would feel so good about mentioning it. It's a life changer. I will go back for a refresher soon. Hugs to you!!
I have to say, i have no intention to ever start a you tube channel, i only watch for your amazing eye for crafting. But i must say, this color and chat was amazing. So much of what you said not only applies to starting a channel, it can be used in many areas of our lives. The uplifting couldn't have come at a better time in my life.
One of your biggest strength is the ability to teach and make it fun! I started watching your channel with a art supplies comparison and I learned so much!. Loved it and I can’t stop watching and I don’t even make cards... YET! Thank you!!
This was very uplifting, Mary! I have no desire to make a living in this industry,; it's just a hobby for me, but I love your attitude and great advice for everyone! Always enjoy your videos!
Thank you so much for sharing your views. I have been in the industry for the last few years and also a crafter for quite some time, and love that most crafters are happy to share and help whenever they can. Usually, the ones that don't want to share are the ones in it for a quick buck or would steal your ideas for themselves, then pass off that work as their idea. Yes, I have been burnt a few times, but I am ready again to start, so thanks again for all your input and to give the credit and build each other up.
Ann, I agree with you about the people you describe. I feel bad that they are so wrapped up in the competition that they are missing the sheer joy of just being with one another. I know that it stems a lot from insecurity and I wish I could make them see that they will actually benefit more by not doing that. Thanks so much for weighing in!
What a wonderful speech & video!!! I really liked what you said about being kind to one another...that is a very important message. It cannot be said enough. You have such a kind & encouraging tone to your voice...& I also enjoyed watching you color. I have tremors, so coloring is quite difficult for me (especially staying within the lines...LOL)!!! God bless you & your family!!!!
Hi Donna!! Thank you so much for being so encouraging! I really appreciate that! I really do believe we are better when we support one another!! Big hugs
You are the most positive crafter I follow! Thank you for that, for your beautiful cards and for collectible quotes! This quote about lighting a candle, and this one from a few months ago, "Everything you want is on the other side of fear."❤️
Thank you for sharing this. I was starting to feel a little bummed about my ideas and crafting and my RUclips ... but this helped remind me of why I started.
Oh I'm so glad this was helpful! Thank you for sharing that with me. I have to remind myself too when things don't seem to be headed in the direction I may have hoped for.
I enjoyed watching you color these cute images. I have no intention or desire to start a RUclips channel or anything like that but I still enjoyed listening to your talk. So many things you said can and should be applied to life in general. I especially wish more people would be kind to and build other people up. It’s a lesson we should all take to heart. We need to teach our younger generations this and teach it by example. Like you said, no flame ever died by lighting another.
Christy, I agree and we try very hard to teach our kids this lesson. When they start to feel competitive or threatened, we try to push them to encourage that other childs growth. I hope it sticks.
I think this world would be a better place if people would be more uplifting to others like you do. You are kind , thoughtful and have an awesome calming voice. Everyone is different and if people would not try to compare themselves to others and just be fine with who they are. Everyone is good at something you just have to find your thing, Just keep trying until you find something that work for you. Thanks for sharing!!
I love your addition, Michele! I agree 100% with this. I love people for what THEY bring; so many talents out there and we need to encourage others along their journey too.
I personally have no desire to ever make a video, however your talk was great and made a lot of sense. I visit you because I'm trying to learn cardmaking and I really do like the talks. I enjoy watching you create especially the coloring and the experience is always peaceful and calm which is why I come back. Thank you for your words of wisdom and I look forward to next time...Cindy
Thank you so so much, I really appreciate this! I am so happy to hear that you are having a good time with me and picking up a few tips. I'm so grateful for all the video creators I make who do the same for me. Big hugs!
Mary thank you for bring you. Your positive outlook and upbeat attitude makes me look forward to watching your videos. Then there is your art and creativity, it's a win win for me! I hope you are always this positive, you offer so much and it is a great strength of yours.
Mary, I do not know how I have been missing your posts lately! I need to go backwards and catch up. Loved this video, as I do all of them. I could watch you color all day long. Not to mention, listening to you. As I said when we met at MFT, you are so real and I love you for that! Have a beautiful day and thanks for posting all your talent for the rest of us!
Hi Dayle! I seriously can't tell you how special it was to meet you and be able to talk to you for that bit of time. It just made my whole day there! YAY! :) Happy Holidays to you! Big hugs!
Mary, I came back from MFT and told my husband and friends that the highlight of that day was meeting you! True story! Happy holidays to you and your family as well. And great big hugs back to you!
Mary...I love your videos!!! I've been watching your videos since you first started and I must tell you, you've grown leaps and bounds since you began. Thank you for being so kind and sharing yourself as well as your knowledge. A lot of people value you very much, including myself. 🤗❤️
Neenah, thank you so so much! I so appreciate you for saying that! I feel like I've grown too so much. I keep up my first video because it's a reminder to me that I was brave and that through that courage, growth came! YAY! Big hugs!
Mary, I don't know how I missed this heart warming chat but so glad that I came across it today and was able to view it. Not only was your coloring a treat to see but listening to you gave me words to hang onto. I especially love your mantra and wrote it down for myself. Another one is it only takes one candle to light the darkness or dispel the darkness. You certainly are a candle lighting other candles, thank you for being you! Love you Mary and so glad that you are here, God bless....June
June, you are so kind to take the time to tell me this; thank you so much! I really do appreciate it! I love that you wrote that down AND you shared one with me. Thank you so much! Big squeezy hugs to you!
I have just found your Chanel. I'm new at card making. Or at serious card making. I love your cards, they are beautiful. Fabulous! Color. I'm getting my supplies together and taking an art class. I hope one day, I can be as good as you are. Thanks for the confidence.
Oh well thank you so so much for the sweet and encouraging compliment. Got a secret though, you ARE as good as me, we are all artists in our own right.
This was awesome, and I do agree 100%. Not planning on paying the bills with my crafty side of life, but I do enjoy what I do, and love sharing with others. You have been such an inspiration in the short time I have followed your channel. THANK YOU
Thanks so much! I so appreciate that! The coloring is a work in progress but I was so pleased with how far I've come. I really really missed my real brush pens so this was like visiting an old friend!
I always enjoy your videos - you're such a beautiful person!! I love the images but hoped we'd see the cards you made. You make the coloring look so simple. Thank you Mary.
Thank you so much Amy for the kind words! I too, wanted to see finished cards. haha No I just ran out of time to actually put them together but when I do, i'll post on here as a photo and on my FB and IG. I'm so sorry for the let down!
Wow, Mary. Just, wow! There’s TED talks, and now there’s MARY talks. I think it’s genius to combine a coloring demo with engaging and encouraging talks. Did you start your channel 2 or 3 years ago in the midst of moving from Hawaii? Because something you said reminded me of that. Anyway, you genuinely offer connections to your subscribers along with great crafty advice. I know lots of people do this on Facebook, which I don’t use for numerous reasons. So finding community on RUclips is nice. Awhile ago, I listened to the one where you asked us viewers to share what our dream car was. You shared a picture of yours: a cobalt blue Ferrari (if I recall correctly). That prompted me to share about my periwinkle blue convertible 1978 VW Super Beetle that came used with personalized plates. I have both MBA and MS Ed degrees, so I recognize what a terrific trainer and leader you are. Your compassion, warmth, and professionalism are remarkable. I’m so glad you share them with us. Thanks!
Wow, Brenda, how thoughtful and kind of you tk take this time for me. I cant tell you how it has brightened my day. Thank you!!! I started the channel In Oct 2016, so 3 years ago. You were close on the car, correct color but it is a Lamborghini tho!! I saw one in the street and it stopped me dead in my tracks. Lol thank you again for the very encouraging words!!!
Just wanted to watch you water color and had hoped at the end you were going to make a card.. Iam very new at this craft and it amazes me every time I watch someone’s video and I don’t usually comment I just do a thumbs up..I just wanted to wish a wonderful holiday season..TFS
Thank you so so much Launa! That is so kind of you! I am so sorry about not showing finished cards. I don't have them done yet and they are in a queue right now but WHEN I do finish them I will post them here, FB and IG so you can see what I came up with. Next time I will for sure finish up the cards. Thanks so much!
Loved your coloring and chat. Today I went to your channel to make sure I havent missed any videos because I missed you and was blessed with one today. Stay positive and creative your the best.
Awww that is just about the sweetest thing ever! I'm so happy to hear that. I know I haven't put out much lately but today you will get 2 from me (one going live at 12pm,) and tomorrow morning another one. :) now you might get sick of me. hahah
I have been wanting to start doing videos to make crafty friends for over a year. I just don’t know where to start. Thank you for your tips and for your joyful attitude ❤️
Mary that was a great video. Very encouraging and some very good advice. You are great to watch. I do feel like we are friends, you are in my living room with me. Lol . You are just fun and energetic and very talented in your art work and your commentary is always fun', entertaining and informative. Thanks so much and congrats on your continued success on here.
Lori, this means so much to me; thank you for taking the time to let me know how you view the videos. I wish I actually had you all hanging out with me but this will have to do. lol Big hugs!
Mary, we need more people like you & AMEN SISTA!!! Praying for you & all the crafters and all who need this encouragement!!! I do have 1 request, and it’s that you pray for an issue I’ve been dealing with, through an injury from birth, I’ve developed Lymphedema, basically, my lymph nodes don’t function properly in my arms and hands, which means the lymph fluid doesn’t flow properly, which in turn when I apply pressure like pressing down on stamps or squeezing glue bottles, simple things I would love to do easily, cause my arms & hands to swell and could cause an infection in my lymph nodes (which happened 3 times since August). Anyway, I’m doing things to help alleviate this issue, while dealing with insurance, etc. so, please, please, pray for me, I’m reaching out to everyone that prays!!! My heartfelt prayers for your success and gratitude for being so inspiring, Mary, you’re such a blessed and amazing person!!!! BLESSINGS & HUGS!!!
Marie, thank you for the encouragement! I'm praying for you tons and sending you all the loving energy I can. I'm so sorry you are struggling. Even in your tough times you found the time to make for lifting me up today; that makes you super special and I wish I could give you a big squeezy hug right now! :) Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I just started my own blog and You Tube channel a couple of months ago. I definitely need to get better at taking pictures and making videos, but I just jumped in as many recommended. I'm learning as I go. I have really been learning about "coloring" from videos like yours.
Thank you Mary! I loved this video! No channel for me, but putting myself out there on IG has been wonderful! I get nervous! But I love all the positive energy! Your a pure joy!!!!!
Outstanding Advice! Just found you and I'm already marathon watching you lol. Love your Art but your Personality draws you in. Thank You keep it coming....Lisa
👏👏👏👏 I agree with everything you said. I especially liked what you said about a candle lighting another candle. Thank you for this video. Take Care. ~Barbara
What a sensationally motivating and wise presentation! Way beyond the realm of card making and the craft world. So applicable to many fields of endeavor. Thank you.
Wow thank you so much Ruth! That means so much to me. It's always nervewracking putting out opinions to people because you aren't sure if it's going to resonate or upset and I never want to do the latter. Thanks for letting me know you felt I was on the right track. I very much appreciate it!
I so agree with your thought process & it’s so refreshing..... so positive. Thank you for the videos, I enjoy watching you color & hope it improves mine. I’m not interested in a channel but liked listening to your thoughts. Keep up the great content.
Hey, Mary! I remember when you were new to RUclips 😊. Thanks for all your great advice and your coloring was so fun to watch! Thanks for sharing this video ♥️♥️♥️😊
Well said! I agree that we need to encourage one another. When you're building your team or business always find people who are better at what you don't excel in & let them bring their expertise to the team. Also get people who are teachable & will learn from your strengths & expertise. We can & should try to get better in those areas that aren't our strengths but let those people with those strengths teach you. I think this will make you all look good. I hope this makes sense. I'm Canadian but wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for taking your valuable time to share your insights.
Yes Janis that makes absolute sense. I learned how valuable that was working with that team I was describing. We all continuously helped one another grow in our areas and encouraged our strengths. Thanks so much for sharing your insight!!
Thanks so much Diane! Hahah, yes. "yuck". I literally laughed out loud! ahahahah. Thank you for the super kind comment! I'm so happy you like hangin with me!
OOOOH I like that! So good! I don't worry about that anymore because I can be held responsible for your perceptions of me; although I welcome you sharing them with me to give me an opportunity to clarify anything you might be curious about. But it's exhausting to continue to worry about certain things.
Mary thanks for your delightful insights, I enjoyed your direct, honest feedback immensely. I do want to do professional card making as a second career and really enjoyed your honesty; most likely never on RUclips channel tho. Also, your coloring is amazing. I just got my first set of Arteza brush markers and still learning best way to use them so I enjoyed just watching your technique. They are really nice pens for sure, but I’m a little intimidated by them but you make them appear easy to use.
Mary, thank you so much for this. I truly appreciate your encouragement!! The real brush pens are my favorite for sure and you will get better and better with them the more you do it. Tag me with some projects. I would love to see what you're making
Great video Mary! I have no desire to start a RUclips channel or do all the stuff that requires. But I still enjoyed and learned from this video. You have such a great way of delivering messages, big & small, that makes people more comfortable hearing about difficult topics. I think anyone on RUclips, new or experienced, would benefit from this video. It’s evident that you have experience in teaching or training adults. I could tell because I used to be a trainer for a non-profit. As an avid card making video viewer I can say there are a lot of talented people in our hobby on RUclips. But - and there’s always a but isn’t there? But there are some who definitely shouldn’t be making videos! It’s unfortunate but true. Some people just don’t have the right personality, or don’t talk clearly, or talk with a know-it-all tone in their voice. Then there are some who are just not good at card making, or are so unorganized or sloppy that it’s painful to watch. As a viewer I always leave an encouraging comment even though sometimes I just want to scream GET OFF THE BUS, this is not for you! In these cases do you recommend continuing with the encouraging comments? Or should I be honest, in a tasteful way, and tell the truth? I know for awhile there, several months ago, there was a person or two leaving thumbs down and negative comments on many channels including some of the beloved ones. I’m sure that person (s) was a disgruntled former RUclipsr who possibly never heard any gracious constructive criticisms and possibly was mislead by well intentioned but misplaced words of encouragement. It’s a perplexing predicament. What do you think Mary?
Sue, what a great comment and question. First, thank you for your very kind words about my messaging. I really do appreciate that! I think once you have taught how to give succinct, organized briefings, it is hard to shake it. lol Next, you bring up a very very good question. If I leave an encouraging comment, it is always rooted in sincerity. I find something that the person did well and make sure to focus on that. I feel that even if they continue to do the not so great things, they at least might keep in the thing that was done well because of my encouragement. I really really want to give constructive feedback to people whenever I can (trust me, as a prior instructor it is engrained in me) but I just leave the door open in a way that lets them know they can walk through it. Example, someone has poor lighting, I might say, "i'm not sure if you have lighting issues in your craft room, but I used to all the time until I got studio lights. Game changer." That's just an example but I try not to frame it in a way that is about them necessarily. It is hard to read tone over a comment which is the very reason why I never get personally offended by comments. Someone could have written it with a smile on their face and I read it when I was in a bad mood. lol So to answer you question, if you are coming from a genuine place of helping, then find a way to help with the feedback. Maybe email them privately so they don't feel attacked. Most have their emails in the "About" page on their YT channel. I hope this helps. Thanks again for a great conversation!
I LOVE MAKING CARDS . I LOVE THE CARDS ON YOU TUBE AND PINTEREST . MY THING IS TRYING TO SHADE MY STUFF ! YOUR SO RIGHT BE NICE TO OTHERS THAT IS STAMPING FRIENDS . BE A GOOD TEACHER ! I AGREE WITH YOUR SPEACH !
This was such awesome advice and given with such care and love. I whole heartedly believe in everything you said and we certainly could do with more people like you. You also do great work and love the colouring. Thanks for sharing
Oh THIS makes my day! YESSSSSS It's so great right? It's something I will watch repeatedly whenever I need a reminder about things! I wish I could have watched it with you over some coffee!
Mary Polanco That was my first thought after watching, “ this needs to be my morning podcast everyday”. I’m still processing, trying to determine the difference between fear vs vulnerability. 🤔 Regardless, “showing up” is my new motto. ❤️
Kitzy, you got this! Reach out anytime if you have questions. It's scary at first but something I am so happy I did. I just love the interaction so much!
Thank you for coloring and chat.I personal would not start a you tube channel or work in the industry. In crafting I found a super fun hobby and dont need the stress of another job.It would make me very happy..I like your channel because your do open and willing to communicate. You also show is your struggels and mistakes in crafting.Your not afraid to show tour trials and tribulations. Some chanels are so perfect and everything looks like a walk in the park.I dont like that because IT is not true and only exist because ofgood edditing .Idont like the sleak commercial channel.Your mistakes and your ways to fix them make me a better crafter. We are only human and can make of break each other. So I never give a negative comment When I don t like something I Just dont give a thump up.
Thank you so much Heleen for sharing your perspective. This is really good to know about videos you like to view. One of the reasons I'm so free on my channel in that way is because I have such a serious job in my professional life that this is my safe space to share my goof ups and to laugh along with you all. I'm so happy to know that's a good thing in your eyes!
I only have 3300 subbies. I was lucky enough to keep monetization as they changed the rules last year. First you need 1000 and 4000 minutes of watch time to even be able to turn on monetization. I make about 1 dollar per video, so you need many subbies that actually watch your videos, and maybe affilliates
This is all very true! If you want to make money off of this, your videos need views (and of course the baseline of subbies to be monetized). But some of my videos have analytics that show 85% of the views are from non-subscribers so the views are so important in the ad revenue. Thanks for sharing, Maaike!
Cup runneth over not plate. I cracked up at that. I don't have a youtube channel I just love watching everyone else's. However, the advice you were giving sounded like really good advice for those who are interested in creating a youtube channel. I always enjoy your videos and personality. I would think personality has a lot to do with catching a viewer's eye too. Who wants to listen to someone who's blah? Not me. I really like your coloring on these images. I bought a big set of Arteza markers from Amazon's Black Friday. What a great deal it was. I'm excited to get them. They look like they blend really nicely or did you just make it look easy?
Thank you so so much for the kind words! I am so happy you are enjoying the channel. The green thing is an apple yes, I presume it is caramel apple? At least that's what my hungry eyes saw. haha
I completely agree with you, Mary and it was good to be reminded. Your videos are awesome and I love me listening to you talking about craft and card making and everything else, while I'm crafting or cleaning or sometimes just watching you so I can learn a new technique. Keep up the great work! You're awesome! 😀
Hi Melissa, thank you so much! I so so appreciate you saying that. I really enjoy "hanging" out with all of you. I'm so happy you like the channel and have a good time with me. :)
I've had this video saved for a fortnight and only seeing it now. You've a great message for everyone here Mary. Most of my subscriptions are to smaller channels who really value the support and feedback. We def need to build each other up. We can also give constructive criticism (and hope it's received in the spirit it's meant!). I don't do videos, I do have aspects to give other crafters but I'm nervous about putting myself "out there". Also could I sustain and keep a channel going. It takes dedication and I wouldn't want to let viewers down by not delivering. TFS 😘 (lovely colouring btw).
💕 this video! I’m not brave enough to start a RUclips channel, but I’ve been selling my creations at craft fairs for years. It’s not enough to make a living, but it funds my addiction 😊
I started a you tube channel (like everyone) and started recently trying to make them more regular. I saw u at MFT (Friday) at Kathys road trip. I was by Seekas table. Friends with Courtney K too. I felt awkward approaching you. Thanks for sharing this video.
Kelly!!! Oh I wish you had said hi! I'm so sorry we didn't get time to chat there. I just subscribed to your channel. I can't wait to catch up on your videos! YAY!
@@marypolancodesigns i know me too. I looked over a few times and I just didnt know what to say. Plus im shy in person. I always regret it later. Hopefully you will go to the next road trip n i can meet you then for sure!😉 your so sweet, thx for subscribing to my wee lil corner of the you tube world🙏
I very nicely let a gal know her video was sped up so fast that technique and detail were lost, holy snowflake did she give me what for, haven't watched her since.
YAY! I can't wait to see what I do with them either. haha
I love how gentle and rational, your chats are. You are a good person. Encouraging. What we should all strive for. You are a wonderful crafter too.
Me too! I somehow had never heard that saying before.
Your kindness and perspective are greatly appreciated. Our world could use more of both.
Oh Melodie, thank you so so much for this! How kind of you! You just made my day! :) I appreciate you!
@@marypolancodesigns I appreciate you and your videos!
Karen this means so much to me!! Thank you so much for the kind words and for letting me know you liked it. Big hugs!!
One of your biggest strength is the ability to teach and make it fun! I started watching your channel with a art supplies comparison and I learned so much!. Loved it and I can’t stop watching and I don’t even make cards... YET! Thank you!!
Thanks so much 😊YAY! This means so much to me thank you!
This was very uplifting, Mary! I have no desire to make a living in this industry,; it's just a hobby for me, but I love your attitude and great advice for everyone! Always enjoy your videos!
Thank you so so much! I really appreciate the encouragement!
Your list of colors popped up on the screen, and out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a list of food you were requesting....LOL!!!
Hahaha that's hilarious. I often do think about food though.
Mary, your plate is full and your cup runners over. Great job being honest AND encouraging 🙂
Runneth, I meant runneth😂
Hahaha...we are BOTH tired! lol Thank you for the fix on the sayings. Yes...yes I have all those things. full plate...runny cup! LOL
This makes me so happy to read!!! Awww I love that you remember the fear one!! I love by that too!
You definitely come across as joyful in your videos. 🤗
Oh you are just the best, thanks so much! :)
Great mantra!!! I think the world would be a kinder, gentler place if we could follow that one simple idea. Well said, Mary.
So true! Thanks so much Cindy!! :)
Denise this means so much to me, thank you so much for the kind compliment! I am so happy you like hanging out with me! Thank you! :)
I love your color and chats. So much of what you said can apply to anything in our lives, our jobs and stuff like losing weight.
Oh well that's a huge compliment thank you for that! I'm so happy it was helpful! YAY!
Thanks for the chat! Good advice and some of it applies to personal life as well, such as building each other up and being kind to each other.
Thanks Julie!! I appreciate that so much!! I think so too! It's just so important
This was awesome, and I do agree 100%. Not planning on paying the bills with my crafty side of life, but I do enjoy what I do, and love sharing with others. You have been such an inspiration in the short time I have followed your channel. THANK YOU
Oh LeeAnn thank you so much for this! I really do appreciate it. You have filled up my thank tank today! Big hugs!
Your plate is full and your cup runneth over... just combined two sayings. This was a great video, thanks Mary!
There's the words I was looking for!!!! Hahaha thank you so much Anne!!!!
I Absolutely Love your color & chat! You are so Helpfful & Kind! ❤😘
Thankyou so much Traci. I so very much appreciate that! Truly! :)
So enjoy your videos, Mary! Thanks so much for your energy, ideas and sharing your passion!
Thank you so much Lauren! I really appreciate you saying that! :) YAY!
Many greats tips here for everyone. I really enjoyed watching you color because I have a lot to learn in that area.
Great video, Mary! I always appreciate your videos and your insight ❤️❤️
Oh thank you so much Cassie! I so appreciate you saying that! :)
So love your perspective. thanks for the lift up, Mary!
Thank you so much Lauren! :)
Great advice Mary! Enjoyed the chat!
Thanks Jenn! :)
Loved the color n chat. Seems extremely helpful! The stamp set is adorable!
Thank you so much Donna! I really do appreciate that! :)
Wow, Mary.
Hi Brandy! Feel free to email me and I will help in any way I can. My email is in the about section on my YT page. :)
Thanks
Mary Polanco I feel the love & thanks for your prayers, you’re definitely in mine as well!!! Squishy hugs back!!!
I will keep you in my prayers for healing, Ms. Nyce
Cup - Mary - cup! My cup runneth over! Haha! Love your videos and what you discuss!
CUUUUUP!!!! I knew none of that was making sense. hahah Thank you Betsy! :)
Thank you for this video. I just started my own blog and You Tube channel a couple of months ago. I definitely need to get better at taking pictures and making videos, but I just jumped in as many recommended. I'm learning as I go. I have really been learning about "coloring" from videos like yours.
YAY! Congratulations! I am STILL learning and have a ton more to go so good for you diving in! YAY
Thank you Mary! I loved this video! No channel for me, but putting myself out there on IG has been wonderful! I get nervous! But I love all the positive energy!
Your a pure joy!!!!!
Thank you so much for such a sweet compliment!! The positive energy is so uplifting and it has been since I started fiing this. I'm so grateful.
Outstanding Advice! Just found you and I'm already marathon watching you lol. Love your Art but your Personality draws you in. Thank You keep it coming....Lisa
Welcome aboard! THat is such a kind and thoughtful compliment. Thank you so so much!
👏👏👏👏 I agree with everything you said. I especially liked what you said about a candle lighting another candle. Thank you for this video. Take Care. ~Barbara
Aww thank you so much Barbara! I really appreciate that!
Great video Mary. No personal interest in a job in our craft but as always, lessons abound in every one of your videos so here I am again! :)
Cheri, thank you so so much! That means so much to me! Big hugs!
I absolutely appreciated this video. Thank you so much for this video Mary. -Renee'
Renee, that is so kind of you and thank you for letting me know! I am so happy you appreciated it! :)
I so agree with your thought process & it’s so refreshing..... so positive. Thank you for the videos, I enjoy watching you color & hope it improves mine. I’m not interested in a channel but liked listening to your thoughts. Keep up the great content.
Ann, thanks so so much for the encouragement. I really appreciate that! I am so happy to hear this! YAY! Big hugs!
I really like your positivity and how you want to lift others up. This is advice that works in any field of work or just in life.
Thank you so much for this Tanya! I really appreciate that. I do feel it applies everywhere, not just here on YT or cardmaking.
Great video with wonderful advice I really needed and appreciated. I love Brene Brown, she is wonderful!
Thanks so much Jessica! I am so happy you liked the video. Brene Brown is amazing! I am so inspired by her whenever she talks!
Hey, Mary! I remember when you were new to RUclips 😊. Thanks for all your great advice and your coloring was so fun to watch! Thanks for sharing this video ♥️♥️♥️😊
Kathleen, you've been hangin with me for a long time! Yes just passed 3 years I've been on YT. I love it so much! Thank you for the kind words! Hugs!
What a great chat! Build each other up in craft and in life❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for the wonderful message, Mary!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoyed it, truly!
Mary this was so inspiring. Crafty love!
Thank you so much Melissa!!!
Great advice...clearly you are kind and supportive and that is terrific to be around...
Thank you so much Joyce, I so appreciate you for saying that! :)
Mary, great talk, love your coloring.
Thanks so much Carmen!! I appreciate that so much
Not yuck, haha. Great tips Mary, I enjoy you so much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom on this subject. Hugs!
Thanks so much Diane! Hahah, yes. "yuck". I literally laughed out loud! ahahahah. Thank you for the super kind comment! I'm so happy you like hangin with me!
I'm having me some Mary time!!! Love it!!! You always make me smile and laugh. :)
Awww that is just the best thing to hear. Thank you!!!
you keep it real and i love that about you. a favorite saying is........ what other people think about is you, is none of your business.
OOOOH I like that! So good! I don't worry about that anymore because I can be held responsible for your perceptions of me; although I welcome you sharing them with me to give me an opportunity to clarify anything you might be curious about. But it's exhausting to continue to worry about certain things.
You are too cute. Love your positivity. You are so funny. I love your coloring. Tfs. 😊
Gina, so kind of you! Thank you for encouraging me! :)
I would love to see what you're making
your coloring is fabulous as are you. 💜 great chat
You are so kind; thank you so much!
Thank you for being so kind
Thank you, Elizabeth for saying that! I truly appreciate it! :)
I think once you have taught how to give succinct, organized briefings, it is hard to shake it. lol
Next, you bring up a very very good question. Someone could have written it with a smile on their face and I read it when I was in a bad mood. lol
So to answer you question, if you are coming from a genuine place of helping, then find a way to help with the feedback.
Thank you so much for weighing in and sharing your thoughts Cheryl! I appreciate it very much!
This was such awesome advice and given with such care and love. I whole heartedly believe in everything you said and we certainly could do with more people like you. You also do great work and love the colouring. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much Margaret! I really do appreciate such a kind compliment! Big hugs!
Great chat 👍 I enjoyed listening to you and enjoyed your coloring 😍 the images is amazing ❤ thanks for sharing Hugs
Thanks so much Joan!!! 😊
Just finished watching The Call to Courage, needed that for my soul. Thank you 😘
Oh THIS makes my day!
Thank you for the chat, I am looking into starting a RUclips but it is a bit scary not knowing where to start. Keep up the good work
Kitzy, you got this!
Love your coloring
Thank you so much! I really missed my real brush pens!
Great video Mary! 💞
Oh thank you so very much! :)
Great video, so uplifting and encouraging! thank you for this.
Thank you so much Heidi, I so appreciate you saying that! :) Big hugs!
Thank you, always, for sharing your talent in such an open-hearted way. Best wishes--
Thank you so much Cara! You are so sweet! I so do appreciate it. Big hugs!
You're so inspiring, thank you so very much!
Debbie!! I so appreciate that! How kind of you! Big hugs!!!😊
Words of wisdom, thanks Mar.
Thank you Mary! And I love that you called me Mar.. All my best friends from HS call me that! :) Just gave me a warm fuzzy!
@@marypolancodesigns same 😸👍
Love it.
Thank you so much!!
I just subscribed, beautiful colouring.
YAY! Thanks for joining me Shirley! woohooo
Lisa, you are so sweet thank you so much! Yeah the saying escaped my brain completely. I need a nap! LOL
Well said! Thanks!
Thanks, Linda! :)
Love your blending techniques. Are you using water color pencils
Thanks Bonnie. No I'm using Arteza Real Brush Pens 😊
Great advice!!
Thanks Jeanne! I so do appreciate that!
Really great color and chat! Thank you for trying to help us. I love your channel! Is that green thing, you colored, an apple?
Thank you so so much for the kind words! I am so happy you are enjoying the channel. The green thing is an apple yes, I presume it is caramel apple? At least that's what my hungry eyes saw. haha
I loved this video 💕
Thank you so much; I appreciate you telling me that!!
Thank you so much for the lovely message! I really appreciate you saying this. It's so nice to know how many people are so supportive out there! :)
💕 this video! I’m not brave enough to start a RUclips channel, but I’ve been selling my creations at craft fairs for years. It’s not enough to make a living, but it funds my addiction 😊
Selling face-to-face takes considerable bravery---I applaud you! :o)
I agree completely...nothing easy about that!!
Thank you so much, Robyn! I really appreciate that! Selling your crafts at almost is awesome so be proud of that milestone!!!
