If all you can get is WSL then yes, it is nice.
I had given myself a lot of time with WSL but ultimately felt too restricted. I still prefer remoting from windows into a server, using a live usb or bring my own gnu/linux laptop.
Dual boot on modern machine is often really fast and has been my favorite way to juggle between OS.
I was a windows first power user. Only came to gnu/linux after using it for years as servers through cli.

It is because it a sub system. I rater use VMWare Workstation or Virtual Box and have a virt. I can't do dual boot. God, I wish I could. Where I work, it's very much a Windows Shop, and the Window's Admin don't understand I have done their work. I just prefer Unix over Windows. WSL is nice because the last year I have to teach myself on Windows how to build docker containers. So it was nice to have WSL to run commands. Yes, I can do cli, but I could use some GUI tools to trouble shot.
The other tool I use to I have some what Unix Tools is Mobaxterm, most want Putty, but I can so much more with Mobaxterm.
I can't install Kali, that a BIG RED Flag, so I've been looking for another way.

@@terrorpup Depending on what you need to do, there are GUI windows tool that can connect to linux servers. Simple example is VSCode, you can spin vscode on the linux box and connect remotely from the windows vscode. You get to use the native windows gui and the linux terminal with the full fledged linux server environment (dockers/bash)

0:18 If you do a lot of work with GNU/Linux, I would personally suggest to just install GNU/Linux :)

He mentions in the end of the vid that he can’t use bare metal linux at work.
But this does seem like too many hoops when other virtualization solutions exist.

@@MichaelSt I meet RMS about 10 years go. I got the whole speech about not calling Linux, that I need to call GNU/Linux. I am 1/2 Norwegian, we don't same Gnah ome, we say Nomw, the G is silent, He didn't like my calling Nu Linux. LOL.
Yes, it a bit more work than installing Win-Kex, but that seems to only be on Kali at this time. I like to see for all Debian base ditro for WSL. Should be easy enough. Maybe I use do a fresh Debian install of the WSL. copy over the dpkg and see if I can just do dpkg -i, and see if it just works.
