This is insane!!! Watching from Norway!!! OMG this will end in a disaster. That front page boat was submerged 50% in water the last time
The democrats are destroying America and I believe the republicans will be the ones to force Sunday worship with the promise of bringing back prosperity. Study your Bibles it's about final exam time.
They closed the lake... Over the flu? Huh
Your leaders are intentionally creating another crisis by not building desalination plants in the western United States.
It's not a big deal. They can always desalinate sea water if they have to, just like Israel. When you put millions of people in a dry area next to the ocean, you can pretty much expect it to come to that.
@@robsonbass6058 that place is quite far from the ocean
People might not realize this, but you're doing the REAL journalism that were not seeing on the major news outlets about this issue. Keep it up.
The way they report Lake Mead News, with no bias or political malice, is 100% real journalism. Awesome!!
Came here to say this. Glad you pointed it out. 👍
Keep letting Bill Gates chem-trail your skies you're all dead
Very true guys but be safe also😳🙏
About what issue? Global warming?
Loss of the lake is bad but the young man speaking about safety and wanting to help strangers is great. Dad did an excellent job in teaching his son to become a good man.
the world has gotten dark and crappy fast lately you sir are a godsend and ppl need posutivity in life. thanks again,
Go against God like the republicans say were christens and nothing but liars God said this i will dry up your water and turn it in to sand
this is great as the real issue today is that people no longer respect themselves or other, no one want to accept responsibility for their actions and many municipalities are no longer enforcing laws so that is just bread disaster.
Or how to act... Just trying to keep you honest !
@@bluejar5614 "free real estate"? When has real estate ever been free?! Plus I don't know what's going on in your mind but I'm pretty certain a lake being full to supply millions of people with water is a helluva lot more important than a lake being dried up just for the sake of having some open land.
World needs more people like you. Thank you for telling this story.
The world does not need people like him who came to Iraq to kill children and women
Kudos to you both for taking 30 min-1h of your precious, hard-earned, lake time for helping these guys with their SUV. It would have been easy to just float away but you stayed. Good to see!
The crisis in Lake Mead is extremely ominous. The present human population in the southwest is heavily dependent on that body of water, and the electricity produced by Hoover Dam. There is a disturbing psychological disconnect between the rapidly collapsing situation and the huge lines of people still queuing up to launch recreational watercraft.
I was thinking the same
Yeah it's almost like welcoming more and more people into that part of the country is a huge mistake
Mostly white guys with trucks and boats lmaoo amerikkkka is f*cked

@@gaylejohnson8579
Its not overpopulation thats the issue really. Its people living in inhospitable environments where there is very little rainfall to begin with. Eventually the number of people moving to a certain area with a dry climate isnt going to end well.
How refreshing to see such a well spoken, confident young man! Kudos, Dad!
Right?! Great Dad!
Exactly what I thought too. Some younger folks stammer or mumble when speaking. He doesn't, and seems kind and confident

Great video. YOU are the good people that this country is made of. We took a trip 4 years ago, stopped at Hoover and couldn't believe how low it was then. Praying for snow in winter and rain in the summer for you.

I live in Las Vegas with my wife and 3 sons. I am awake and aware of this catastrophe. But thanks to you guys we really get to see how scary this truly is. It’s a recipe for disaster, 2.4 million people in Clark county.. it’s time to get out of here.
I don't blame you guys! The handwriting is on the wall!
Clark County is fine. It's California who should be the ones worrying and start making the drastic changes... At 895 feet, Hoover Dam cannot release water down river to California and Mexico. Southern Nevada can still pump water at 875 feet.
Colorado River use by state:
California: 29%
Colorado: 26%
Arizona: 19%
Utah: 11%
Wyoming: 7%
New Mexico: 5%
Nevada: 2%
Nevada is at zero risk of not having water. It is up river of California.
100% of Las Vegas drain water is recycled back into the lake. (Goes through 3 treatment stages, then released back into lake.)
Nevada doesn't even use it's entire allotment of water from the Colorado River...it only uses 80% of its allotment.
We take the least and don't even use our entire amount....we also conserve and recycle the most?
Las Vegas and Nevada is not the problem!! Everyone else needs to start conserving more.
The whole Colorado River allocation needs to be updated and everyone needs to get on board with water conservation and alternative methods of getting more water.
Desalination and water pipelines will likely be needed in the near future if conservation by the river's largest users isn't taken seriously.
@@umadbrew All of that means good paying jobs :)

My Brother in law (deceased) was an outdoorsman. He told me about the brewing water crisis in the mid 90s. That was before this drought.
It is scary at how quickly the lake is drying up, but what a perfect time to remove a load of sunken boats and debris that shouldn't be there. I can't even imagine how many cold cases there are down there, some poor team is going to be getting a few more files on their desks.

I lived in Vegas for over 45 years. The water issue has been apparent for decades. But the growth of Vegas went on without any concern. Now when its too late and people are worried. As usual day late. People never learn.
They still don't seem to care... It's going to be too late when the water completely dries up.

This is a cataclysmic problem in the making that gets basically no reporting in real media. Thanks for being on top of things for the rest of us!
There is no real media now ..at least to me

"The American West's megadrought deepened so much last year that it is now the driest in at least 1,200 years and is a worst-case climate change scenario playing out live, a new study finds.
A dramatic drying in 2021-about as dry as 2002 and one of the driest years ever recorded for the region-pushed the 22-year drought past the previous record-holder for megadroughts in the late 1500s and shows no signs of easing in the near future, according to a study Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change."
@@decimusrex92 Dude, this isn't even that bad. Go back to the 70's and it was worse but the politicians who have their fingers in the "green companies" need to push the climate change crap.
California has a long string of droughts every 40-50 years that is well documented.
Your documentation is an eye opener and a very alarming one at that!
Your time to document and share this with us will hopefully WAKE UP the country on the impact of climate change.
As it is mentioned in several other comments here, thank you and your son for these thoroughly documented journals of Lake Mead and your impactful relationship between each other.
Also, thank you for your service in the military.
God Bless you both.
Maybe you should wake up and realize global warming...I mean climate change...is a hoax. It's a manmade lake in the middle of a scorching desert with way too many people relying on it for municipalities and irrigation.
I think it's more the big city sucking it dry than climate change but that's only an opinion.
your government built massive tunnels to re route the water, the climate is changing but this drop speed has nothing to do with it. Do keep being a good little spokesperson for the gov though, make sure everybody "wakes up" to the right enemy.
Its a desert.. there's no stopping a drought lol we could all drive Teslas and compost and it wouldn't make a difference
It's a man made lake in the desert. You are the one that needs to wake up.
Great coverage and comparisons! You're providing a valuable service to let people know about this! Thank you.
I learned how to water ski at Lake Mead in 1985. That lake had spots I was told were 300 feet deep! Never did I think I’d see grass growing around the lake. It looks pretty, but unrecognizable. They warned us back then someday the lake would dry up, and no one believed it.
500 feet deep
I distinctly remember projections and estimations by experts back then of Mead drying up by about this time. And I remember a lot of people scoffing at the idea as “ridiculous”.
The lake was so big and beautiful back in the 1980s. People building big homes next to the water, now those homes are in the desert.
Always the hard way with us. Bad times are coming and no one is ready.

You guys are doing a great job of videoing this disaster! I grew up on Lake Mead and it brings tears to my eyes to see it disappearing. Keep up the great work!
There might be a body in the concrete filled barrel. It would certainly be a way to ensure the body stays at the bottom of the lake...until the bottom changes at least.
That's what I was thinking, what other possible reason would there be for a concrete filled barrel to be in the lake ?
Same thought🤔
Looks like home made mooring.
@@stevenhall657 ... it's called a boat mooring. Concrete in a lump with a rope tied to it is what they have used for 100 years. That's why there's a piece of pipe sticking out the top. It's where you weld an eyelet to tie the rope.

I'm in SoCal and my neighbors water their lawns all week long despite the restrictions. I've reduced my water use, but too many people are totally ignorant to the fact that we are running out of water in the region. We need a zero day to sober people up and realize there will be a day the tap runs out!
That is INSANE that people still insist on having lawns in this region! Here in Tucson it's extremely rare to have lawns and they should be flat out banned by the city. My yard contains only native plants that require exactly zero extra water from me. And to me, yucca and cactus look pretty awesome.
In Australia occasionally we have water restrictions. Most summers. You get fines if waterings lawns on days of week your street number isn't allowed. So if your last number is 3 or 7 you can water lawn that day etc. As for not having lawns, no it's better to have lawn or garden than nothing, especially artificial lawn . As lawns and gardens keep temperature down in house and in cities, so less energy used on air conditioning etc. So it's a balance of everything. Cement and plastic ain't a solution also. Native plants are a good alternative yes, as there is native or hardy lawns that need less water you can chose too.
Get your city government too educate them. The are selfish.
A lawn in the desert, what idiot thought that was a good idea?
Cool to see a father son team, bless you guys

Under reported? About 10 years ago, I lived in Reno for 5 years and never once heard anything about this. This is tragic.
I am pretty sure they don't report it to keep the tax base from moving to Oregon or Washington. Smart people will be moving now while they can still get something for their homes. At this rate in 10 years nothing in the desert SW will be worth anything.

@teedockinpond that’s funny. 90% of the water used in California is used for agriculture, in other words, it’s to feed you.
It's going to be dropping quicker and quicker in linear feet because of there being less volume in the narrowing walls.

Born, raised, and spent much of my adult life in the Las Vegas/Boulder City/Lake Mead/Valley of Fire area. I remember boating with family and going right up to the dam. Just goes to show, the more we try to change, the more the planet tries to fight it. Give it a bit more time and we'll start seeing the small trail towns and stuff that were along the river before the dam was built. The area started as a desert, and to the desert it shall return.

Man can conquer many things if we put the resources into it. Where will the millions go if they run out of water? Globalists sure do know how to pick a perfect storm.

Wow, the little remote pilot outboard is fantastic. My unkle sheered the prop off our outboard coming back into the harbour.Wise words at the end.
I was at the dam the summer of '83 when the spillways were open and the ice house and restaurant were surrounded by sandbag dikes to keep them from being submerged at Temple Bar. You don't know how much it breaks my heart to see the lake disappearing like this. So many fond memories from my childhood...
Keep up the good work, guys. Probably the best blow-by-blow of what's going on up there.
I'm subbing just because yall spent most of your time HELPING someone else. We need more men like you guys.
Yes, absolutely we need more men like them. Talked to someone who lost their home in Yellowstone ( Park Employee). Said they were throwing their belongings out the windows because they knew the house was going into the river. Over 200 people on the bank photographing and only a few offered to help them
Great video. You really showed the water drop well. I grew up between Las Vegas and Henderson when it was still desert and no people. We left in 1979 and I haven't been back. Lake Mead was low at times then, but not like that. When the water dropped, we would go collect fish lures people had lost. I still have some of them, but no striped bass around here. I'd love to go back now and see what I could find. St. Thomas, I knew was there, but too far underwater to go see it.
Thank you for your service and the video water is getting pumped out.
Even if water consumption is reduced, the lake will continue to drain faster. The funnel-ish shape of the lake means that 1 foot of water at the highest levels may measure 1 million gallons, but 1 foot at the current level may be less than 100k gallons.
The lake is huge your only see a small section.. The lake literally goes for hundreds of miles still
@@Pinkielover I get that it's an absolutely MASSIVE body of water; even in it's depleted state. I mean, they measure the damned thing in acre-ft for volume, not gallons!
I was trying to say that you can't measure lake volumes the same way you would with a vertical cylinder like a soda can. With a can, if half of the liquid is gone, then the fluid in the can is at half the height of the full can.
With a lake, the uneven shape dictates how much water remains at one water height versus that of a level that is 50 ft higher. The higher the water level, the more land the water covers as it expands outward.
my theory is the shape of the lake makes the current water level seem like it's shrinking faster when in fact it's just that particular bay and the way its shaped which makes it look like it's shrinking faster. like Mr McClain stated.
It's not about water consumption. It's about the water that passes through the dam to make electricity. The more people in Socal, the more electricity needs to be made
I'm in Scotland & seeing this is just insane to me.!
We've got so much water here that we take it for granted.
That looks like a disaster.
A 1 to 4 hours wait to launch & then again to trailer your boat.!
That's a potential 8 hour wait in that crazy heat... That would make it absolutely not worth it for me.!
Stay safe out there & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️.!
Yes, it is. As far as I know, Las Vegas depend on it. Las Vegas and some other cities are dying and barely anyone notice it. You can also see this developement in realEstate prices there. Pretty much the only place where realEstatePrices didnt went up.

😭😭😭I was born here, 1968, this lake was sooo beautiful when we were kids/teens. Im feeling really sick right now. Nothing else to say. Sad. Thanks guys for the video, great job.
Too many Californians
My God, this is incredible. I can't believe how little water is left.
Sometime in the early 2000's I was involved with a group of engineers and scientists who were installing water quality monitors near the "Towers" you were showing us. There were 4 or 5 of those installations all around Lake Mead. The idea was to check the water at every depth to figure out what depth to draw water from at each location. This would reduce treatment costs for the city. So much for that! It looks like there's only one depth: SHALLOW and not much water left to pump out of the lake. This is not good.
thanks for speaking up, little bits like this add perspective and adds to the info.
What's sad is 99% of the population is oblivious to this. Along with any other serious issue going on in this country.

I just discovered you guys thanks to a video from HeavyDSparks the boat rescue video. Wow, this is crazy how the water levels are dropping so fast, I couldn't believe it! I believe in order to fight this drought is to provide water to essential sources only. This means eliminating water to Golf courses and ban watering lawns. Yes I know that means many jobs will be lost however this will help conserve water. Then restrict water use to residents every day. Not so long ago around 10 or 13 years ago parts of Mexico restricted water use to residents to only 3 hours per day, then water was shut off. I fear we may have to do this in order to make it last as long as possible. We have to do whatever it takes no matter how inconvenient it may become. Keep up on the updates great job!
My first view of one of your posts. Very eye-opening and entertaining at the same time. Keep it up.
I'm addicted to these updates and I live nowhere near Las Vegas. Keep them coming. This is scary!
Gentlemen, please keep posting updated videos of the before and after shots. I know there are lots of videos about lake mead, but you have the best coverage
what a good deed helping out the people who were stuck
Thanks for the video. Scary stuff. Blows my mind.
Blessings to you and your boys for recording this
Probably going to be the most iconic series you guys can produce. It’s educational, it’s informative, and just flat out pure journalism. Good job guys. This series can actually be useful for the future as education for the the generations to come.
For who? After the lake becomes completely dry in a few years and half the City's population has to move away

That’s what I was thinking!
It's also how you anchor a bouy.

Yup
Its how you do both sink stuff , and hide stuff
I was fishing there in 2000, and I still recall seeing the "bathtub ring" and saying to myself "boy, the lake is losing water". It's sad to see the lake like that. I recall fishing in the lake in the 80's. There was plenty of water then. I guess we took it for granted.
All of US took things for granted, allowing politicians and corporations run like they own the land. Look to your leaders now to see how they fix the problem. Ah, wait, they're at it playing yet another classic divide-and-conquer play. It's seriously unfunny watching US struggle because not even one moment, anyone considers that the problems you'll face are going to break the country in half like Batman on Bane's knee and the kicker is there's no pit of wisdom to climb out. Word to the wise, at least in regards to the outcomes of drought. That entire city will be unrecognizable.
I'm from Massachusetts and went fishing there in 1998. So beautiful. Now... DEVASTATION!!! Don't know what it'll take to fix the problem.
@@matthewclay6535 The problem is that we (the Southwest, particularly AZ) have been in a drought since 1994, and we have not had substantial and regular rains since then, hence why we're in a drought. However, I doubt that even if more rains came and came more regularly the problem would be solved. I think it's just an overpopulation issue along with climate change fuckin with the weather patterns and making it hotter here, plus all the misuse of water through inefficient farming, etc. I'm from Arizona and I like it here, but at this rate we're fucked.

I lived in MN for a decade. The cold and mosquito ("State Bird") are not worth it. Go south! Even Iowa is far more tolerable. :-)
I've been to Ely couple times, in the summer to canoe the boundary waters and camp/fish. It's truly a great place on earth. But don't forget the deet as one reminded of your "state bird" the mosquito.
Lived I MN for years. Trust me you could do so much better. Don't settle for that state.
I worked at Lake Mead back in the days when it was full (1970s). The water at Callville Bay used to come all the way up to the resort. I also remember the water pouring ten feet over the top of the spillway gates at Hoover dam. I just stumbled on your RUclips videos quite by accident. But I wanted to let you know that your videos are extremely informative and done very professionally. I no longer live in Nevada and so the only pictures of Lake Mead they show you in other parts of the country when they are talking about the low lake levels are always filmed at Hoover dam, and that really doesn’t show you much at all. The way you explain things and show the differences from one month to the next really hits home. Thank you for putting out such informative and professional done videos!😉
That was 130+ million people ago that lived in this country. Of course this was predictable.

@@honghong3153 yes blame that and ignore weather and climate engineering which is causing droughts and floods and other extreme weather.
Two things causing the problem, 1st is drought and the second is all the water pulled out of the Colorado for the growing cities in the south west. I live in Salt Lake city and the great salt lake is also dropping like crazy, and nobody pumps water out of Salt Lake. Our mountain reservoirs are also low due to drought. We just haven't been getting good snow packs in the mountains in the last few years. All the reservoirs upstream from you are low and getting lower, its a real problem. As much as I hate the snow we need several hard winters up here in the north.
