Awesome little layout, with so many brilliant ideas! My favorites so far: - Everything in one place, even the trains. No extra boxes to haul around. - Filling structures with foam to add rigidity. - Attaching structures with magnets! - “Good enough“ modeling on the structures. - Built-in folding legs. - Air shock opener. Only at 40 minutes, but have learned a lot. Thank you for this and all of your excellent videos.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this build! - Every detail has been cleverly worked out and would make a great starting point for new modellers or something to take to train shows - If you did make the structures removable, it could be something that could be changed out every now and then to give variety! Great stuff, many thanks from Melbourne, Australia...
It is set up to be a puzzle, so you have to solve how to move the cars to their end locations (determined by shuffling the car cards). It can take a while to figure out if you have a lot of cars on the track since there is limited space. Kind of like the deal where you have to move a stack of rings from one peg to another in a specific order.
Hi Steve! You have been an inspiration to me ever since I discovered your channel. Ever since I was five, I would love to have O27 trains as that was my first train set. But one year for Christmas, I got an HO Scale Bachmann train set and J had a blast, I continued my sharing of two scales until I fell in love with N Scale because in 20212, I got an N Scale KATO Santa Fe Super Chief Starter Set (don’t know why I keep getting starter sets). At this point, I was stuck, cause a couple days later on my Bday, I got a Lionel 1980’s G Scale Santa Fe garden train set when they still made electric G scale sets. So eventually, after long thought, I have a small space, and a small office, what could be better than N scale? Now I thought hard about Z Scale, but it’s not as various in terms of Buildings, cars, locomotives or even scenery as every other scale from N-O. So I have been trying to figure out all the different industries here in Mississippi that I have a connection with. But I also keep getting other scales as I’m not going to not use everything else I have, as last year, I got myself an MTH HO Scale R36 “Redbird” Subway set. But until I can find everything I need to make a layout I want, I might make this switching layout that you have made as I would really like to have something before my childhood ends, I’m turning 15 on the 27th of December and I want to build your layout and use it as a temporary layout that’s not a floor layout.
Thanks for combining all of the various videos together! I finished mine about a year ago but haven't done any scenery yet. What do you feel are the appropriate number of cars to switch on this layout without it being to difficult or too easy?
@@StevesTrains Hi, just stand on a bathroom scale with and w/o the box. Subtract the 2 #'s and shazam = net train weight. P.S. really liked this and I also learned a few things. Gotta get me some of those 1 2 3 blocks. I see u use them all the time.

Steve I really like this layout.
How much does it weigh complete with trains, power supply, controller ect?
Something I’ll need to figure out at some point. Haven’t actuality weighed it completely finished yet.

Steve, getting some audio distortion on this one
Sorry about that. Reprocessing already processed videos instead of the raw video caused issues apparently.
