I love this layout. Compact with so much going on. Great job. So many channels have large layouts but not everyone has that much free space. Keep it up!
The one thing I don’t have is time. I only have at most a few hours per week for this stuff, and usually that is either at 4am before work or after 10pm at night. My work and volunteer schedule is bananas right now so I basically just sleep 4-5 hours a night to keep doing the weekly videos.
@@StevesTrains Thanks for sharing that info. Reality is you are stealing time on the upper and lower bands to enjoy your hobby and share it with us. Shows what it takes to get these types of layouts to completion.
Obviously can only do that so long, but hoping my other responsibilities ease up som after mid-November, at least for a while. Not that the holiday season is exactly quiet time, but still will hopefully be a lot easier.
Hey Steve! Great video as always. Quick question - what type of weights do you use when gluing foam or scenery down? What are those metal bricks with holes? Thanks!
Yes if you plan to handle them a lot as they can wear off over time. These pan pastels are fairly hard to remove though. They come off easily enough with some water, but are pretty hard to rub off (besides of course anything loose). I never both spraying them on structures or things like that, and even on rolling stock it really isn’t needed unless you are handling them a lot. But that would be the main place to spray them with a clear and flat sealing coat.
This was actually clear pine that I bought at Home Depot. Usually it is pretty good, but yeah, you have to sort through their stock a while to get the straight ones.
@@StevesTrains You got that right. Something I learned with wood from Home Depot is to let it sit where I'm going to use it for a few humidity cycles so it gets used to the environment here at home. Learned that lesson the hard way when I built a layout section and in a couple of days it warped and split some of the wood.
He basically sold out of everything I think and will make another run of stuff soon. He makes everything on his own laser cutter so he makes a bunch of kits and then puts them up for sale all at once.
You make everything seem so easy! Great looking layout.
Once again wonderful job! Now I have to get going on my project 😊
Pan Pastels on the track! Great idea! I've been using diluted acrylic paints but I think your idea is a winner...
I used to use diluted acrylic paints but the pan pastels are easier and faster. Not as permanent of course, but that doesn’t usually matter.
@@StevesTrains I will give it a try!

Wonderful! I like these sma ll layouts. I plan on a small one with continuous running myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you for all the wonderfully detailed tips in this video. Looks Beautiful Steve.
Thanks!
Totally awesome steve!! Simply splendid!!🫶🫶🫶💙💙
So many skills you have and time. Sure came together nicely in the end.

This is a fantastic little layout, I love the vibe of it. Great job! (Makes me kind of want to build another N scale switching layout)
I really liked the one you had some years ago!
great projects ,nice clean work!
Great job!
Outstanding!
I've wanted to build something like that
Great video, love the tip on the parking templates. Where did you get the cars (and fedex van’ from?
Just random stores like Midwest hobby, TrainWorld etc.

Steve, you make this look easy. Great Job! as always. Just Curious, How many hours did you spend on this project (minus the filming parts)?
Really have no idea. That is something I should really start keeping track of.
Ive never used weathering powders. Do you need to spray a sealing coat of clear lacquer over the powder to keep it adhered? Thanks.

@@StevesTrains Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you.
Hey Steve what material do you use to build you layout?😅
Same question as it's hard to get good affordable lumber these days at Home Depot or Lowes
Good question. Maybe a poplar? One of the cheaper better options but still gets expensive in large pieces.

Why is links page dark. Cannot read.
Zene
Not sure why it is dark…maybe you have dark mode set up and it is displaying weird? What browser/system are you using?
Went to check out Late Night Hobbies and it looks like the site is down for maintenance.

I've been on a family vacation, when I return I'll restock
