Marvel Studios did a good job pulling us towards Yelena. This movie was just as much of a "passing of the torch movie" to Yelena as it is a "farewell" movie for natasha.
i dont know how she will do but i love chemistry between natasha and yelena i would love to see more of them together

During the end credits scene, she calls her dog "Fanny". That was the alias on Natasha's passport. She named her dog in memory of her sister.

Anyone else notice when Nat flinches when Dreykov pretends to hit her. Never seen her act that way before. Probably because the man singlehandedly ruined her life and caused her so much pain as a kid.
No she was playing the long con. She knew there was a lock because Melina told her about it. She was playing chess not checkers.

@@danwhite9184 it doesn't make sense though. She knew about the pheromones, she knew she wouldn't be able to hurt him, and also planned on him breaking her nose. She was never afraid of him.

Obviously she's not afraid of him anymore, but he clearly did psychological and physical damage to her earlier in her life. It has an lingering effect on you.
I think she was truly afraid because of the childhood trauma something like ptsd because Dreykov was already buying it She didn't need to do that
Interesting fact: Natasha did not make a mistake in the pronunciation of Budapest. She is russian, so she knows that the native pronunciation is budapesht (as all Estern Europeans pronounce it)
As a Hungarian, I was so glad they finally educated a large audience about it because the English pronunciation of BP sounds so dumb. (Plus foreigners don't know that our 'a' sounds like the 'a' in 'what', not like the 'a' in the word 'car'.)

It's so that people don't try to compete to see who can be the best with the most dangerous scenes which can be.. well dangerous. But I get it. A lot of them deserve awards for what they do.

Florence Pugh as Yelena was the highlight of the movie, she stole the show i love her, cant wait to see her in hawkeye and her future in the mcu
I feel the same way.
Favorite scenes of her were when she makes fun of Nat for posing in the gas station and at the table with the family.
She will be in one or two movies. Kevin feige and Disney announced there wont be any 9 movie contracts for actors

It's crazy that the posing gag of Yelena is actually just Florence's comment to Natasha, and then head writer heard and loved it, then he included it in the movie. Florence said this in one interview!

The fear of human trafficking just hits harder when you’re a girl cuz you’ve been told about it since you were really young. Especially because it kinda goes hand in hand with rape and sex trafficking.

Red Guardian hadn’t been in a fight in decades . It wouldn’t make sense to have him be on the same level as Taskmaster

Pugh low-key stole the show, loved her in every single scene she was in. Especially when she told them that the family was real to her.
That scene when Melina is talking about her science and how it works, and the camera has Yelena in the background and without focusing on her, you can just watch her heart breaking, it's so masterfully done

OMG! When I saw that, I was liked “She just did the Arya Stark move!” 😂 It was in the theater!
That opening montage nearly broke me in the cinema, due to the pure reality of human trafficking around the world. The way they shot it as though it had a sort of documentary feeling, gave the rest of the movies story such a hollow feeling (to me). And it gave the movie a much more humanised feel for a "superhero" movie. ( Along with the incredible acting throughout)
Favorite moments: *Yelena* and *Natasha* in the car talking about the vest. *Yelena/Pugh* was such a little sister, while still true to her character. . .and strangely very Russian.
*Edit:* Oh! And of course the very first time *Yelena* mentioned *Nat's* posing. 🤣
And my other favorite part is. . .well, there are two, but they're both *Melina* scenes: *Melina* on the catwalk calmly informing them that they are in a controlled crash. And of course at the end, _"I've clearly been injured."_ *Rachel Weisz* portrayed her in such a wonderfully odd way! 😄

fun fact: Emma Waston, Saorise Ronan, and Florence was considered for the role of Yelena, basically the cast of Little women.

Honestly I loved this film. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good thrill ride, and honestly I’m glad she got to kick so much butt on her way out!!

I'm almost absolutely certain that Yelena had been snapped & that's how Val/Madame Hydra is able to con her into going after Hawkeye. And that's why she wouldn't have known the depths Natasha would've gone through to fix the snap. It would also make for a really strong retcon to why Natasha was so desperate to bring everyone back....both of her families were torn apart by Thanos.
But that after-credits scene was so damn good. I will admit to getting a little teary because that was the 1st time we really got some closure for Natasha. And the Hawkeye show is certainly going to be touching on it some more. But it's crazy how 1 little scene can change my opinion on that series. When it was first announced I was NOT excited for Hawkeye at all. But now I'm sooooo hyped for it.
Yelena absolutely stole the show and look forward to her in the Young Avengers. I also hope they go full on comics and bring us some Madame Hydra/Nick Fury romance. I would love to see JLD and Sam on screen together. I bet they'll have great chemistry and could pull off ANY type of scene....comedy, action, drama, etc.
I don't believe she was snapped, she looks like she moved on and has a regular life, also she has a dog now, and since the snap was only a couple of months after civil war, I don't see Yelena getting this life in just a few months
@@Xthis1s4youX But I think you're looking at the timeline all wrong. She could've started her life several months after the re-snap. I mean, if we look at Falcon & Winter Soldier (using Val/Madame Hydra as a reference point for the two) then it's been a pretty long time.
I mean they just didn't hand over Cap's shield the day after Falcon had given it up to a museum...and he had apparently been holding onto it for a while as well. And the refugee terrorist group would've needed plenty of time to become THAT organized & connected.
So we could be talking about a YEAR after the re-snap before Madame Hydra started recruiting. And that would make sense. Her visiting her sister's grave a year after the re-snap to mark the memorial of her dying.

Infinite War takes place 2 years after Civil War and we don't know how many years it's been since Endgame and that ending scene. She's had time to live a normal life. It's hard to tell anything now that the MCU isn't running in real time now.

Milena is the villain Iron Maiden in the comics… she had weak spot for the girls, but her main reason to help natasha after alert the red room, she saw the potential on the unexpected team (one super soldier, 2 deadly widows, and her knowledge on the facility and organisation) to take down Dreykov, that she was gathering information about him to dethrone him because she has grudge against him ( i suppose to make her do the program 4 times) and ambitious of power… but her alone against Dreykov, Taskmater and army of widow would had been imposible, and now she got all the information/location about the girls around the world and the only cure against the brainwash thanks to natasha… she can controle them like the pigs, she would corrupted by the power, future Villain there…

The MCU hasn't always been 1:1 with how it adapts the comics and Melina is depicted as a much more sympathetic character. If anything they're probably setting up some version of the Winter Guard.
The point isn’t to “not find her attractive” but to appreciate her for things other than her beauty.

Natasha called for a truce during her fight scene with her sister because she had her beat, but she wouldn’t have submit other wise it seems. Good little detail showing how Natasha still cared deeply about her sister and didnt want to hurt her.

It wasn't a tie.... Yelena was fading... Nat sensed that and called for a truce to save her sister and assure her.
What’s cool about the Taskmaster Red Guardian fight is taskmaster has all the abilities of the Avengers but Red Guardian is using traditional Russian Sambo and Karate techniques which is what he would have learned in the era he was active. Shows you how much Marvel thinks about character.

I think antonia's mind control *not* being something that keeps her alive makes it more fucked up (and thematically fitting).
dreykov had the methods to save her and make her live a normal life, but opted to use his goddamn daughter's near-death as an opportunity to do what he does best, turn young girls into his tools without agency.
Florence Pugh needs to be in more things. First saw her in Outlaw King and she was the best actor there.
Lobotomy can go through the inside corner of the eye, btw. Horrible useless abuse, but if you're skilled at it, you can literally do it with an ice pick and a mallet.
The horrified silence the woman on the far left had the entire opening credits while everyone else was giving commentary further drives the point the film was trying to make. Normally I enjoy your content, but watching your reaction during that part of the movie was hard to take in.
The guys can never help themselves. They have a need to share what they know even if it means talking over important stuff.

The movie was incredible, Florence absolutely killed it, and the after credits scene had me actually screaming
the opening credits were fucking incredible. felt so real with the old camera footage and stuf
The chip gave task master her the ability to mimic any move that she observed.
Fun fact: At 26:32 Red Guardian's shoulder tattoo of the two roses has Natasha and Yelena's names underneath them. Also, this entire movie takes place after the main events of Civil War but BEFORE the Avengers are broken out of the raft. At the end of this movie when she's blond and leaves in the jet, she's going to help Steve break the others out, which is the final scene in Civil War. And this was supposed to be the first time we saw Valentina, before FATWS.
Yeah, people forget this was supposed to come out before any of the Disney + shows.
i was so shook throughout the movie and my brain was trying to process everything that i somehow missed the taskmaster mirroring the t’challa claws and bucky knife flip and now i feel stupid for not noticing until now 😭😭

I think he did get to be a super soldier (he talks about wanting to be in the field “again” in 1995), and I saw a mention of there having been a TV show (thus the fans and the costume).
And I think he had, either out of real belief or just wanting to be That Guy for Russia, a 100% buy in on the espionage/Cold War conflict. Like, he has KARL + MARX on his knuckles. 😆

The reason taskmaster knows all of the avengers fight moves are because they showed him footage of them all fighting at the airport in Civil War

The reason Taskmaster knows the fighting moves, is because the character has photographic reflexes that allow him to mimic any fighting style at the cost of his long and short-term memory.

That Post Credit Scene made "Hawkeye" even more interesting, the irony is, Barton probably still blames himself more than even Yelena does for her Sister dying. "Hawkeye" needs to drop before 2021, is over.

Widow really surprised me. I went in with really low expectations and came out really liking the characters. I think strong thematic storytelling and character work made if for me.
Just one movie and Yelena is already one of my favorite characters ever! Her personality is so perfect! ❤

I love the fact that Alexei/Red Guardian has Nat and Yelena's names tattooed on his shoulder in russian, where he has the two roses with the ribbon underneath. And that to me proves that even though he was telling Dreykov he wanted to be back on the field, he actually cared about them and never stopped. Even though he didn't show it a lot. And you can actually see it when they tell him what the red room did to them.

When Red Guardian was talking about his fight with Captain America my brain immediately went to Isaiah Bradley, not Steve. I'm not sure on the specifics of when Isaiah stopped being the Captain but its the only thing that made sense to me. It didn't feel like Red Guardian lied to me but who knows!

The little girl that plays Natasha is Mila Jovovichs daughter and the little girl playing Yelena is little Nellie from Hill House, also fun fact i just read that Alexei (red guardian) has yelena and natashas names in russian tattooed on his arm so thats a cute little detail

Cool that you guys liked the Taskmaster twist. A lot of people are upset, and I get it, especially for fans of the original comics character, but I think this iteration worked so much better in this story than introducing a new party who was either just Dreykov's henchman or a random bad guy. At least Natasha had a personal connection with Antonia. Would have liked to have seen her Taskmaster in action more, but I like what we got.
With all the more fantastical Phase 4 entries like WandaVision, Loki, and Multiverse of Madness coming up, I wasn't too hyped for this one, but I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. Unexpectedly gritty and brutal action but with a lot of heart. I also loved that it had strong feminist themes without being in-your-face girl power.
And Florence Pugh will never not just steal the show in whatever she's in.
I totally expected it to be gritty and action packed.
The comics fans tent to act that way, I am not a comic fan, I just know the important things, but I like that they made a conetion to Natasha, I think the other Taskmaster didnt fit as well, and I like that the Bad guy was Dreykov, because he is the villian in the Story of Natasha R , he is the ona that made her like she was becfore sheild, he is the one that made her life hell and why Natsha is like we new her. I hate that Nat died, she was my favorite Avenger but in this movie they close her circle becore Infinty War..
Pugh says that she made fun of the fighting pose and they thought it was funny and added it to the movie.
You guys weren’t paying attention! Red Guardian wasn’t lying about fighting Cap! We know this because he asked Natasha if Captain America ever mentioned him to her! (BTW….in the comics Red Guardian was one of his biggest foes right behind Red Skull)

It's possible that The Red Guardian may have fought Isaiah Bradley, the first African American super soldier for the USA. He was alive and active during the time Steve was under ice.

The timline doesn't add up since Isaiah was arrested in the 50 and was in jail for 30 years and then never fought again and he was never Captain America and never wore the uniform in the MCU.

Between Yelena and USAgent (Falcon and Winter Soldier) it looks like someone's making their own anti-avengers team. So far they have their own Captain America and Black Widow. Now they just need a Hulk (can anyone point to Abomination?) and Thor (recruit the TV Loki into their ranks?) and Iron Man (not sure who will fill this role).
The opening to this movie is the most intense, well done opening out of any Marvel movie. It gave me chills and neatly had me crying!
The rest of the film definitely made me cry though. What an incredible story about overcoming abuse and finding family ;;
