The desolation squad already had the "ignore cover". They took out the part that gave them the "ignore penalties" to indirect fire. GW nerfed a unit that hasn't seen play in 8 months.
Definitely liking the change to secret missions, it should kill that hyper-passive "last turn flip" issue. I wonder if people have tried building kauyon lists to specifically use secret missions, and if they have how this would force them to alter their approach.
Realistically, I no longer see a reason to take berzerkers between the MoE nerf and Blood Surge being gutted. Some TOs are arguing that the wording on the surge move abilities satisfy the "unless stated otherwise" portion of the restrictions, since they didn't update the wordings and they still say "each time", but we all know that they intend it to be restricted to once per phase period, since they specifically cited Blood Surge for their example.
I feel like it's the exact same conversation as the Helbrute rules for World Eaters. It said each time you're attacked you can swing back but rules state you can't fight more than once per phase. If I'm not mistaken, that just got FAQ'd to he can fight back as many times as he's attacked, regardless of the fighting once per phase rule
I don't understand why the watcher in the dark ability couldn't be used against a doombolt. It can be triggered "in any phase" so surely at the start of the shooting phase is within any phase?
The Desolation Squad already had the Ignore Cover rule in addition to ignoring the hit penalty. What they effectively did was strip out half their rule, and not change the points to compensate. I get the impression GW just wants to not see them again for the rest of the edition, thanks to screwing them up so bad at the start...
@Paradukes I just hate desolators off the rip. They should have been Gravis. 3/6 of superfrag or superkrak and D3[Blast] is much less horrific than 5-10, and they're tougher so they can be played as anti-tank neo-devastators. Maybe they could even take 2 vendors, as long as the vendor replaces the supermissile AND the castellan launcher. Their rule still needs work though. Can't remember if I changed it.

@@johnj.spurgin7037 Their weapons also look so much better and less ridiculously out of proportion on Gravis bodies. It takes them from looking like completely cartoons to looking like a pretty reasonable (by 40K standards) walking artillery unit.
@@758richy that was exactly my thoguht process, yeah. I feel like if they do retire Devastators they should spread their weapon options pretty equally amongst the three armor chassis, and since desolators are the missile launchers element they should be gravis while the plasma is the incinerators and inceptors units. Grav is phobos because it's more niche but also lighter to carry.
The ruins update, why the distinction of into and through a ruin if being outside the ruin doesnt follow this rule in your opinion? I dont see how youre ever shooting through a ruin unless the model is outside of it
How is doom bolt not an "attack" but vortex of doom is? Iirc your librarian gets 4+++ against the vortex of doom mortal wounds if they are leading a unit because of the vortex of doom is considered an attack, right?
So i am new to WH 40k, and going to play Tau. I want to do Montka, With the new point changes to battle suits and piranha , what should I run as a beginner?
This is a list I used to win an RTT recently. It will need some cuts to make room for the cost increase to the piranha and riptides. I will probably cut some enhancements and MAYBE the krootox rider and go from there. pastebin.com/8u3z7E1z
First stop when a change drops - thanks!
Thanks for video guys 👊
F for the Ending Swarm
@36:02 I caught that Game Changer reference

Straight to AoW when the day is the day

So DG can finally use their stratagems properly

Lol didnt know you could still score primary points after you picked secret, this makes much more sense that they were so good xD

can I pop Witcher in the dark before I see the doom bolt roll?
Thanks Jack and John
Secret Mission nerf is such a boon to Pressure armies

I am a special flower thank you Jack
Didn't cover CSM changes
The only change for custodes was the subductor nerf

if it is like space marine librarian it was commented that damage from psychic abilities is treated as from attacks for the feel no pain abilities
forgot the Vanguard Onslaught change with Surprise assault, making it much, much weaker.
